I have been dating the singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes, for four months now. Our relationship is still a secret, so we have to sneak around in order to see each other, which can be hard at times. I was hanging out at Shawn's place one night when suddenly I became very tired as we watched one of the Harry Potter movies for the umpteenth time. We were cuddled up to each other, my head on his chest and my arm wrapped around his torso. He had one of his arms wrapped around my shoulders and back, and the other was draped around my arm that was on his torso. He rubbed my back and arm.

"You tired baby girl?" Shawn asked. I looked at him and nodded.

"Yeah. I'm going to head back to my place." I said as I went to stand back up, but Shawn gently pulled me back down.

"Stay." He said.

"What?" I asked.

"Stay the night. I don't want you driving like this honey. Please?" Shawn pleaded. I chewed at my bottom lip for a moment while thinking.

"I mean, I would love to, but I don't even have any clothes here or anything." I said. Shawn shrugged and rubbed my cheek.

"So just borrow some of my clothes. Please honey, I don't want you driving." Shawn pleaded again. I sighed and thought for a moment before nodding.

"Okay." I said. Shawn smiled at me and then scooped me into his arms so he could carry me into his bedroom. He set me down so I was sitting on his bed. I stayed in my sweatpants but he handed me one of his long sleeve shirts and a hoodie.

"There you go Y/n." Shawn said. I smiled.

"Thank you honey. And thank you for letting me stay overnight." I said. Shawn kissed my forehead before he got changed into sweats too.

"Of course. Come on, let's get cozy and we can cuddle up to each other. Does that sound good?" Shawn said and asked. I sent him a tired smile and nodded. Shawn got into bed and I put my head on his chest again. I was practically half asleep by now. "Good night honey."

"Good night Shawn. I love you." I said, and then fell asleep. We had never said I love you to each other but it was definitely how I felt. I was so tired that it just slipped out before I fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up to no Shawn in bed. I got up and wandered down the hall and ventured into the kitchen. Shawn spotted me out of the corner of his eye and his whole face lit up.

"Good morning honey. Thank you for letting me sleep over last night." I said to Shawn. He smiled at me.

"Good morning baby. You're welcome. Can we talk about last night?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yeah. What about last night?" I asked.

"Well, do you remember what you said before you fell asleep?" Shawn asked. I shook my head no.

"No, I don't. What did I say?" I asked nervously.

"You said that you loved me." Shawn said, looking me in the eyes.

"Oh my gosh Shawn, I am so sorry. I'll completely understand if you don't feel the same way and want to break up with me." I said. Shawn shook his head, held my face in his hands, and smiled at me.

"I love you Y/n Y/l/n." Shawn said. I smiled.

"You do?" I asked. He chuckled and nodded.

"Yup. I do." Shawn said. I cupped the back of his neck and pulled him in for a kiss. As soon as our lips made contact with each other, I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy, and I felt sparks shoot through me like fireworks. Shawn and I pulled away, gasping for air after our passionate yet loving kiss.

"I love you Shawn. I'm in love with you." I said with a giggle and a smile. Shawn continued to hold my face and he chuckled and smiled right back at me.

"I love you too Y/n. I'm in love with you too." Shawn said. He leaned his forehead against mine, but suddenly I pulled away. He gave me a confused look. "What's up my love?"

"When did you realize that you're in love with me?" I asked Shawn. He smiled at me as he moved his hands from my face to my waist. I wrapped my arms around his broad shoulders.

"Honestly, it was the moment that I saw you for the first time." Shawn said. My jaw dropped.

"Really?" I asked. Shawn laughed and nodded.

"Yup. I saw those beautiful y/e/c eyes and, damn did I fall. When did you realize that you're in love with me?" Shawn said and asked. I smiled at the memory.

"It happened to me a little bit later. We were on our first date and I asked you if we could take things slow. You said 'You set the pace, I'll get keep up.' and that was when I fell for you. Hell Shawn, I'm still falling for you." I said with a laugh. Shawn laughed and kissed me again.

"Well I'm still falling for you too. It feels like everyday I fall for you more and more. I love you honey." Shawn said. My smiled widened.

"I love you too. I fall for you more and more everyday. I love finding out new things about you." I said. Shawn raised his eyebrows.

"Really?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yup. You're a very interesting guy mister Mendes." I said. Shawn smiled.

"Well I love finding out new things about you too. You're pretty interesting too." Shawn said. I hugged him.

"We should probably eat." I said. Shawn pulled away from the hug and we sat down and ate. My mind wandered to different things and I suddenly became quiet. Shawn sent me a questioning look.

"You okay my love?" Shawn asked. I faked a smiled and nodded.

"Yeah. I'm fine." I said. Shawn shook his head.

"No you're not. Your lip just twitched and it only does that when you're lying. What's on your mind baby girl?" Shawn asked. I put my fork down and thought for a moment.

"Now that we know that we love each other, should we go public with our relationship? I mean, we've been together for four months now." I asked and said. Shawn put his fork down too and sighed.

"I don't know. Let's just savor this and keep it a secret a little bit longer, okay?" Shawn asked. I wasn't totally satisfied with that but I smiled and nodded.

The next week, Shawn and I would sneak to each other's places, hoping not to get caught since we still wanted to keep the relationship a secret. One day, Shawn and I went for a walk. Looking back, we should have known that the paparazzi would find us and take pictures of us, which they would then publish and the rumors would begin. I opened up Twitter and saw that a bunch of Shawn's fan accounts were freaking out over a few photos. Oh my God. One was a picture of us holding hands and smiling at each other as we walked, another was of Shawn holding my face in his hands with me smiling at him, and the other one, the one that people were really freaking out about, was one of Shawn and I kissing. I took my phone and brought it to Shawn since I was at his place.

"Hello my love. What's up?" Shawn asked. I handed him my phone and his eyes widened.

"I guess we've been caught." I said. Shawn nodded slowly. "Are you okay with this?"

"I mean, I wish that we could have been the ones to announce our relationship, but now that it's out there, we're public. I'm okay with it. I'll post something on Instagram. Is that okay?" Shawn asked. I smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, that's fine. Would you mind if I post something too?" I said and asked. Shawn smiled and shook his head.

"Go ahead honey. Look, you're being called the mystery girl." Shawn said, causing the both of us to laugh. He handed me back my phone, and I let him post a picture of us first before I posted anything. My phone dinged since I get notifications when he posts. He had chosen a picture that mainly showed me, but you could see his beautiful smile. I read the caption.

"Some of you may have seen the article about me with a mystery girl. Well, let me clear up the mystery: this is my lovely, beautiful, supportive, amazing, girlfriend Y/n Y/l/n, (your Instagram username). I'm sorry that I've been keeping her a secret for so long, but we've just wanted to savor our relationship. Please don't send her any hate, she doesn't deserve it. She's an amazing girl and I really, truly do love her. I know you're sitting right next to me as I write this, but I love you honey." Shawn wrote. I smiled as I read it. I then posted a picture of him and I sitting next to each other but we're facing each other, leaning our foreheads together and smiling at each other. I captioned it.

"I am so beyond lucky to call this man my boyfriend. He is so kind, caring, loving, passionate, compassionate, and just an all around amazing person. I know that we wanted to keep our relationship a secret for a little bit longer, but I'm happy with what happened. I love you so much my dear." I wrote, and posted it. Shawn smiled at me after he read my caption. He then pulled me down so I was laying in bed next to him.

"Cuddle time." Shawn said, causing me to giggle. I kissed his jaw, causing him to smile.

"Cuddle time. I love you Shawn." I said.

"I love you too Y/n." Shawn said. Although I wish that Shawn and I could have announced our relationship on our own, I'm glad we're public now. I'll love this boy forever.
