A/n: Okay so OBVIOUSLY I'm not trying to give the Mendes Army a bad name or anything, but this may happen some day, who know? Anyways, please enjoy this imagine! Okay, let's begin!
My boyfriend of three years, singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes, and I have an apartment together in Boston. He was at the studio when I decided that I wanted to go out to the library to get some books and then to a coffee shop - I love coffee. I decided to call Shawn just to let him know that I was going out.
"Hello there my dear. What's up?" Shawn asked.
"I just wanted to let you know that I'm going out to the library to get some books and then to the coffee shop. Oh crap I probably shouldn't have called and bothered you, I'm sorry honey." I said.
"Honey, listen to me, you did not at all bother me by calling me. In fact, I'm glad that you called and told me where you're going. Just please stay safe out there, and remember, if the paparazzi see you, don't talk to them, okay?" Shawn said and asked. I nodded my head even though he couldn't see me.
"Okay. I'll stay safe, I promise." I said.
"Good. Please call me if there's a problem, okay?" Shawn pleaded. I thought for a moment while picking at my bottom lip.
"Okay. I will." I said.
"Thank you. I love you, my beautiful girl." Shawn said, causing me to smile.
"I love you too, my handsome man." I said. We said goodbye and hung up.
I stepped out of mine and Shawn's apartment and had only walked a few steps when the paparazzi started to follow me.
"Y/n! Y/n! Where's Shawn?" Many of them yelled. Shawn always told me not to engage in conversation with them because it would only egg them on. I ignored them and kept walking. I had been wearing black leggings, Shawn's pink hoodie that smelled like him, sunglasses, and a white baseball cap. I had hoped that they wouldn't recognize me, but obviously I was wrong.
"Y/n! Y/n! Where are you going?" They asked. Did they really think that I would give them the answer to that? Ugh, they're so disgusting.
I finally reached the library and went inside. Even though I'm an adult, I'm still a sucker for the young adult section. Once the librarians saw me, they waved.
"Hi Y/n! How are you today?" One of them, Tracy, asked me. I've been her so many times and I come here so often that I'm on a first name basis with a lot of the librarians.
"Hi Tracy! I'm good, how are you?" I asked. She smiled.
"Can't complain." She said. I smiled and went to browsing the books. I picked out about seven books that I wanted, and when I checked them out, I put them in the paper bag that I had brought.
"Have a nice day guys!" I said. They all smiled and waved.
"You too Y/n! Tell Shawn that we say hi." Annie said. I nodded and smiled.
"I will." I said. I soon headed out the door and saw that there were no paparazzi out there. Good. I called Shawn again.
"Hi honey." Shawn said.
"Hi. Just wanted to let you know that I just left the library and I'm on my way to the coffee shop. The librarians say hi." I said. Shawn chuckled.
"Okay, thank you for letting them know. I'll have to come to the library with you one of these times so I can say hi to them in person. Plus I love to help you look for books." Shawn said. I smiled.
"Yeah. Well, I'll let you get back to work. I love you. Bye." I said.
"I love you too. Bye." Shawn said, and we hung up. The coffee shop was a bit of a ways away, but I didn't mind the walk. I soon heard footsteps behind me and then I heard someone whisper.
"Is that Y/n? Do you think that that's Y/n?" One of them asked.
"It sure looks like her. Do you think that we should ask her for a picture?" Another one asked.
"Yeah, definitely." The first one asked.
"No guys, don't bother her." A third one said, and I hoped that the other two would listen to her. Don't get me wrong, I love Shawn's fans. Without them, Shawn wouldn't be where he is today - a Grammy nominated singer. But sometimes I just like to go undisturbed.
"Come on, it's just a picture." The second one said.
"Y/n?" The first one said rather loudly. I turned around and nervously smiled at them. They were three teenage girls.
"Hi guys." I said.
"Hi Y/n! You and Shawn are sooo cute together and I ship you guys so hard. I always have and I always will." The first one said. I smiled at them for real.
"Thank you, I appreciate that." I said.
"Would you mind taking a picture with us?" The second one asked. I shook my head.
"No that's fine." I said. We all posed for a picture and they took it.
"Thank you Y/n! Please tell Shawn that we love him." The third one said. I nodded.
"I will. Bye guys!" I said and waved.
"Bye Y/n!" They all said and I turned to walk away.
As I continued to walk, I also continued to hear those same footsteps behind me. I knew that it was the three girls because I could hear them whispering and giggling. I started to get slightly nervous. Maybe they were just heading to some place near where I was and we were just heading in the same direction... yeah, that's what it could be. But after three more blocks of them following me, my nerves heightened. I saw another coffee shop and ducked into there to get away from the girls. I had originally been heading for my favorite coffee shop, where the people knew my order by heart, but that was another three blocks away.
I walked in and went up to the counter to order my coffee. I paid for it, got it, and went to sit down for a moment. When I turned around to find a seat, I saw the three girls sitting in the corner, watching me and whispering. I sent them a small smile and sat on the other side of the coffee shop. There was no way in hell that I was going to walk straight back to mine and Shawn's apartment building right now. The first reason being that I was anxious, the second reason being that I didn't want them following me there and then knowing where Shawn and I lived. As I sipped my coffee and looked out the window, I heard someone sit across from me. I looked and it was one of the girls.
"Hi Y/n." She said.
"Hi there." I said.
"Where's Shawn?" She asked.
"Oh he's working right now." I said.
"Oh! Hopefully he puts out new music soon, I've been a fan of his since forever." She said with a smile. I nervously smiled back.
"Yeah. I was a big fan of his when I met him, and now I'm an even bigger fan." I said.
"Awww. How did you two meet?" She asked. I smiled for real at the memory.
"I went to a Justin Timberlake concert that my best friend dragged me along to. I didn't want to go but she had an extra ticket and no one else to take. When I saw Shawn there, I instantly recognized him, and I got this surge of confidence. I asked him for a picture and he asked me if I could text that to him. When my best friend Grace and I left the concert, we found out that Shawn was parked near us, and he asked me out on a date. The rest is history." I said, still smiling.
"Oh my gosh that's so cute. What did you guys do for your first date?" She said and asked. Should I tell her? The nerves crept back into me.
"I'll keep that between him and I, but he was very romantic and very sweet. He still is." I said.
"Oh, please tell me." She pleaded. I sipped my coffee and shook my head.
"No, it's mine and his little memory together. Actually, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but would you mind if I sat alone please?" I asked. Her eyes widened and she scoffed.
"Fine. Whatever. See Y/n, this is why some fans don't like you. You're too uptight." She said and then walked away. Uptight? Literally no one has ever called me that before, so I highly doubt that I'm uptight. Another one of the girls came up to me and sat down across from me.
"Hi Y/n. Sorry about my friend. I just wanted to say thank you because whenever Shawn's with you, he looks so happy, like, happier than I've ever seen him before. You can tell that you two are very in love." She said.
"Thank you very much. We are very in love. Again, like I said to your friend, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I would just like some alone time." I said. She scoffed and walked away. My nerves were very high by this point. I pulled out my phone and texted Shawn.
Me: I'm at a coffee shop on (random street name). Three of your fans were following me and they even followed me in here and now they keep coming up to my table and talking to me. When I told the first one that I would like to be alone, she told me that this is why some fans don't like me, because I'm uptight. I don't dare walk back to our apartment because I don't want them following me there too and I'm really nervous right now. Sorry, that was a lot.
Shawn texted back within less than a minute.
Shawn: It's fine honey. Stay where you are, I'll be right there.
Me: Okay.
I obviously had no plans or intentions of telling the girls that Shawn was on his way. That would just get them riled up and I didn't feel like talking to anyone but Shawn right now. Shawn's my rock, he's my protector, and I couldn't be more thankful for him. Within five minutes of our texting conversation, I saw Shawn pull up. I stayed seated and waited for him to come in. When he walked in, the girls got all excited.
"Shawn! Oh my gosh! Can we get a picture with you?" One of them asked. I wasn't too far away, the coffee shop wasn't that big, so I could hear what was being said.
"Which one of you guys called my girlfriend uptight?" Shawn asked. Oh gosh. One of the girls shyly raised her hand up.
"It was me. I was just trying to talk to her and she said that she wanted to be alone." The girl said.
"Well when she's getting followed by you guys for a few blocks and then you guys follow her into a coffee shop, it makes her more than a bit nervous, and sometimes when she's nervous, she likes to be alone. Please don't follow my girlfriend, and please don't call her uptight, because she is in no way, shape or form, uptight. I love you guys, I really do, but you can't just follow my girlfriend. It's okay to ask for a picture, but it's not okay to follow someone." Shawn said before taking a quick picture with them and then he walked over to me. I stood up and hugged him.
"Thank you for coming." I said as he held me nice and close to him. We pulled away and sat down.
"You're welcome my love. How are your nerves feeling?" Shawn said and asked. I thought for a moment while I picked at my bottom lip. Shawn gently pulled my hand away from bottom lip, knowing that if I kept picking at it, it would bleed. He took my hands in his. His touch electrified me yet made me feel safe and warm at the same time.
"Well they're a bit high but they're also better now that you're here. Thank you for saying something to them." I said with a smile. Shawn smiled back.
"You're welcome Y/n. I'm sorry that they said those things to you." Shawn said with a frown. I squeezed his hand so he would let his caramel colored eyes like into my own eyes.
"It's okay. It's not your fault." I said.
"Well it kind of is since they're my fans." Shawn said. I shook my head.
"Baby, please don't blame yourself. It's okay, really. I'm better now that you're here." I said. Shawn smiled and his face softened. He suddenly started to study my face.
"Okay, good. God you're gorgeous. I mean seriously, how is it that I'm dating the most beautiful girl in the world?" Shawn asked. I blushed, smiled, and shook my head.
"I'm not the most beautiful girl in the world, but you're definitely the most handsome man in the world." I said. Shawn frowned and shook his head.
"Thank you but why don't you think that you're the most beautiful girl in the world?" Shawn asked me. I shook my head.
"Let's not talk about this here. Why don't you drop me off at home and then you can head back to the studio, and I'll see you when you get home, okay?" I said and asked. Shawn shook his head.
"Andrew and Jake and I didn't like the fact that you were being followed, so I have the rest of the day off." Shawn said, causing my jaw to drop. I reached over and put my hand on his cheek and rubbed it with my thumb.
"No Shawn, go back to work. I'll just see you when you get back from the studio." I said, protesting. Shawn shook his head.
"No Y/n. Andrew gave me the rest of the day off. Let's go home honey. Please?" Shawn pleaded as he stood up and reached for my hand. I finally stood up, grabbed my coffee as Shawn grabbed my bag of books and I held his free hand.
"Okay." I said. Shawn smiled at me. The three girls had left by now.
"Thank you honey." Shawn said. I smiled at him.
"You're welcome." I said. As soon as we stepped outside, we were met with a bunch of the paparazzi. Ugh. Shawn squeezed my hand, holding it tight, now wanting me to get away from him, and we got in the car and drove back to our apartment. Once we got inside I put the books down on the couch and plopped myself down on the couch. Shawn sat down next to me and pulled me into his lap. I wrapped my arms around him as he wrapped his arms around me.
"Y/n?" Shawn asked. I ran my fingers through his gorgeous luscious locks and smiled at him as I looked into his beautiful eyes.
"Yes bubs?" I asked. We sometimes call each other bubs, which we think is cute. It all started one night when he was drunk as hell and called me that, and then it stuck.
"Now that we're home we can talk about this: why don't you think that you're the most beautiful girl in the world honey?" Shawn asked, and I could see the pain in his eyes. I felt so bad.
"I just... I don't like my stomach, or my arms, or my thighs, or my face. I'm just so fat and ugly and I hate it. I wish I was prettier, you know? I wish that I looked like someone else." I said. Shawn shook his head.
"Baby, there is no way in the world that you could be even prettier. You're so stunning and beautiful and gorgeous. You know that I always mean every word that I say, right?" Shawn asked. I nodded, still running my fingers through his hair as he rubbed my back.
"Yeah." I said.
"Then please believe me when I say that you really are the most beautiful girl in the world. I love your stomach and your arms and your thighs, and especially your face. I love kissing all over your face, especially considering the fact that it makes you laugh and giggle. Honey, your giggles and laughter are the most beautiful pieces of music that I've ever heard, and your smile is the most beautiful piece of artwork that I've ever seen. You're stunning, and I love you more than anything, okay?" Shawn said and asked. I smiled at him and nodded.
"Thank you. I love you too. I love seeing your gorgeous smile and when you chuckle or laugh, oh my gosh Shawn, it's like my heart flutters." I said. Shawn smiled at me.
"Yeah I get the same feeling too." Shawn said.
"Really?" I asked. Shawn nodded.
"Yup. You look tired honey, do you want to take a nap and I'll nap with you?" Shawn asked. I thought for a moment.
"Only if you promise to read to me later." I said with a smirk. Sometimes, when I checkout books from the library, Shawn will read them to me. I love listening to him tell me stories, and he loves reading to me. Shawn threw his head back with laughter and nodded.
"Of course bubs. Come on, let's get you in bed." Shawn said. I stood up and laid in bed with him.
"Shawm?" I asked. He kissed the top of my head before responding.
"Yes my love?" Shawn asked.
"Thank you for coming to the coffee shop for me when I was being followed by those girls and thank you for telling them that I'm not uptight." I said. Shawn lifted my head up a bit so I could look at him better, and I could see all of his love for me, right in his deep earthy brown eyes.
"You're welcome honey. It's my job to protect you at all costs. I'll do anything to protect you baby." Shawn said. I smiled at him and placed my lips on his and felt a whole bunch of magical feelings. I felt my heart race as if I had just run a marathon, I felt sparks shoot throughout my body like fireworks, and I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my tummy. We pulled away from our kiss and smiled at each other. I will always be so beyond grateful for Shawn and how he protects me from anyone and anything.
