124. You Go To His Condo
My boyfriend of two years, Shawn Mendes, had given me a key to his apartment about eight months into our relationship. He had told me that he wanted me to have the key for when I'm in town and just want to come over and visit him.
After not having seen my boyfriend in close to two months, I felt clingy and wanted to see him. I decided to text him before I headed over to his place.
Me: Hey baby boy. What's on your agenda for today?
Shawn: I have a couple of meetings so I have to leave my place soon and then I'm just going to head back to my place to relax and unwind when I'm done with my meetings.
Me: Why do I get the feeling that you'll get to your place and just end up playing guitar for hours on end?
Shawn: Lol you're probably right. I have to go. I love you honey.
Me: I love you too baby.
I put my phone in my purse and headed out to my car. I live far away from Shawn, like, about an hour and a half away. Him and I are both so busy all of the time, which is the reason why we haven't seen each other in almost two months, so I'm hoping that he'll be happy to see me. He probably will be.
I got into my car and started it. Once it was running, I turned on the radio. I left the garage of my apartment complex, and started to long drive to Shawn's place, but I didn't mind it. As long as I got to see my man, I was happy. After an hour and a half I reached Shawn's place, and parked my car next to spot that he usually parks in.
I went inside his apartment and was surprised to see that it looked different. There were new pictures that were framed around his place. I walked over to his white, comfy couch and sat down. I picked up a picture that was next to the couch and smiled as I looked at it. It was a selfie that he had taken of the two of us kissing while on the beach. I set it back down and went into the kitchen to get a bottle of water and saw a picture of us on the refrigerator. It was another selfie photo that I had taken. In it, I was squishing his squishy face and kissing his cheek as his lips were puckered up. I grabbed a water and continued to find more pictures of us around his apartment.
I sat on the couch, turned on the television, and put on Netflix. I put on some random movie and soon grew tired. I turned off the movie, Netflix, and then the tv before wandering down the hall and into Shawn's bedroom. I stopped in my tracks once I got close to the bed when I saw a framed picture of us that I had never seen before on his nightstand. I picked it up and smiled. The photo had been taken at my place, and whoever had taken it and done it sneakily. In it, Shawn's arms were wrapped around my shoulders and my arms were wrapped around his torso. His forehead rested on mine and our eyes were closed. It looked like he was comforting me, but I couldn't remember when the picture was taken or what he could have been comforting me about.
I got into Shawn's bed, covered myself up with his soft blankets, inhaled his lovely scent from his pillows and fell into a deep slumber.
Shawn's point of view
I just finished my third and last meeting of the day. I can't wait to go home and just unwind. I decided to text my girlfriend of two years, Y/n, to let her know that I was done with my meetings.
Me: Hey darling. Just finished my meetings. I'm going to head back to my place now. What are you up to honey?
After about five minutes of sitting in my car, waiting for a response from her, I decided to text her again. She typically responds pretty quickly.
Me: Baby? You there?
Once again, after another five minutes, there was no response. I decided to call her. It rang and rang and rang but eventually went to her voicemail. I decided to leave her a message.
"Hey there love, I've sent you a couple of text messages and you usually respond pretty soon after, but you're not answering so I'm getting worried. Call me back when you hear this - don't text because I'm driving. Just please call your worried boyfriend back honey. I love you. Bye." I said before hanging up.
I backed out of my parking spot and started to drive back to my place. My fingers drummed on the steering wheel nervously as my thoughts raced about what could have happened to cause her not to respond to my texts or answer my phone call. I couldn't drive to her place because it's about an hour and a half away. It wasn't until I reached my apartment building's garage that I realized that I hadn't even turned on the radio. As I pulled into my usual parking spot, I noticed a familiar looking car parked next to me. Wait, is that Y/n's car? I think it is!
I got out of my car and locked it up. I practically ran to my apartment and unlocked the door. I quietly shut my front door, kicked my boots off, and went in search of her. I looked out at my balcony. Nope, she wasn't there. She wasn't in the living room, or the kitchen. There's only one place left that she could be: my bedroom. I walked into my room and found my gorgeous girlfriend asleep under the covers. A smile made its way onto my face and I leaned against the doorframe for a moment before fully walking into the room. I got in on the other side of the bed and got underneath the blankets, hoping not to wake her up, but she started to stir when I pulled her body closer to me. She opened her eyes and gave me a tired smile.
"Hi handsome." She practically whispered in a tired tone. I smiled back at her.
"Hi gorgeous. What are you doing here?" I asked. She cozied up to me even further.
"Thought I would visit you. I missed you, haven't seen you in a while." She said. I kissed her forehead and started to rub the back of her head, massaging her scalp.
"Oh honey, I missed you too. I tried texting you and I called you, but when you didn't answer I got so worried. Please don't scare me like that again honey." I said. She pulled away from me a little bit so she could look at me.
"I'm so sorry Shawny. I didn't mean to make you worried or scare you." She said.
"It's okay honey. You're safe and that's all that matters." I said. She sat up, and I sat up with her.
"Babe?" Y/n asked.
"Yes love?" I asked. She picked up the picture of us that was on my nightstand and showed it to me.
"When was this taken and who took it? I don't remember it being taken." Y/n asked and said. A small smile formed on my face as I thought of that day. I moved myself so our bodies were touching as we sat next to each other on my bed. I gently took the picture frame out of her hands and looked at it.
"It's from a couple of months ago. I had come over to your apartment, and then Andrew wanted to talk about something over lunch, so I left. When I got back, you were sitting on your couch and I could tell that something was off. When I asked you if you were okay, you said that you were, but I could tell that you weren't. I took you into the other room, and you insisted that you were fine, but you finally and gave up and told me what you were upset about. I had completely forgotten the fact that the anniversary of your friend's death was coming up and you told me that that was what it was that had been upsetting you. I pulled you in for a hug and comforted you and that's when Andrew took this picture. He sent it to me later on. I just love the fact that it's such a tender and loving moment between us." I said. Y/n smiled at me.
"I love that. I had no clue that Andrew took that picture. I really like it. It looks like it was supposed to be a private moment between us but I'm glad that he caught in on camera. Thank you for being my rock and always comforting me Shawn. I can't even put into words how much I appreciate it." Y/n said as she smiled at me. I placed my lips on hers and felt my heart practically beat out of my chest, I felt sparks shoot through my body, and I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my stomach. Y/n and I pulled away and smiled at each other.
"I love you." I said, whispering it for some reason. Y/n's smile grew.
"I love you too." She whispered back.
"Are you just here for a few hours?" I asked, hoping that she would be able to spend at least one night. She was on vacation from school, so it's not like she had anything to do tomorrow. Y/n thought for a moment.
"Probably. I mean, I would love to sleep over but I didn't think to bring any of my stuff." She said. I pulled her into my lap and shrugged.
"So what? Borrow some of my clothes. I know how much you love wearing them." I said, wiggling my eyebrows at her. She laughed and nodded.
"Okay, I'll spend the night, but only if I get to wear your pink hoodie and you text me that picture of us that Andrew took." Y/n said. I laughed and nodded.
"Consider it done, my love." I said. She smiled at me. I pulled my phone out and sent her the picture as she listened to the voicemail that I left her. I then got up and grabbed my pink hoodie that she loves so much. Before I could even fully make my way over to the bed, she rushed over to me and hugged me tight.
"I am so sorry that I worried you that much Shawn. I feel so bad, oh my gosh." She said. I pulled away, tossed the hoodie onto my bed, and held her face in my hands.
"Y/n, my darling love, it's fine. I know that you're safe now, so everything is okay. It's just that, well, you mean the world to me and I would never want anything bad to happen to you." I said. She nodded her gorgeous head.
"I don't ever want anything bad to happen to you either. Come kiss me." She said before puckering her lips. I laughed before grazing my lips on hers, not quite kissing her, but teasing her. She tried to go on her tiptoes to push her lips on mine, but I just backed away a little and continued to graze my lips lightly over hers. She quickly let go of me and walked over to my bed. She put on my hoodie, grabbed her water bottle, crossed her arms, and walked out of my room. I followed her and watched as she plopped herself down on my couch and looked out at the view. I sat down next to her.
"Come on baby, I was just teasing you." I said. She continued to look out the window, not responding to me. I started to get slightly worried that she was actually upset with me. "Honey don't be upset with me, I was just teasing you." I said. She looked at me with a frown on her face, her arms still crossed across her chest.
"I haven't been able to kiss my boyfriend in almost two months and we've only kissed once since I've been here. Shawny, you can't just tease me and deprive me of your kisses. I want those magical feelings that I get whenever we kiss." She said. I scooted closer to her and pulled her onto my lap. I took her arms and uncrossed them.
"I'm sorry my love. You're right, we haven't been able to kiss in what feels like forever." I said.
"It has been forever." Y/n said with a giggle. I laughed and smiled as she wrapped her arms around me, while my arms wrapped around her waist.
"So, you get magical feelings when you kiss me, eh?" I asked. She blushed and nodded.
"Yeah. My heart races and I get sparks and butterflies. You make my knees weak Shawn." She said. I smiled at her.
"Well that's good because I get all of those feelings too." I said. Her eyes widened and she gave me a big smile.
"Really?" She asked. I nodded.
"Yup." I said, popping the p.
"Now, are you going to keep depriving me of your magical kisses?" Y/n asked. I chuckled and shook my head.
"Nope. Get those gorgeous and magical lips over here." I said with a smirk. She immediately put her lips on mine and our lips moved in sync with each other as we both got magical feelings. We pulled away and leaned our foreheads together as we smiled at each other.
"Shawn?" She asked.
"Hm?" I asked.
"Do you want to sit on your balcony with me and maybe you could play your guitar for me? Please?" She asked. I smiled and nodded.
"Of course. But let me get you another one of my jackets that can zip up over that so you're nice and warm." I said as we both got up.
"You're so cute, how you take care of me." She said. I turned around and pulled her close to me.
"Well I can't have my girl catching a cold or getting sick or anything, now can I?" I asked. She giggled and shook her head.
"Nope. But I want you to bundle up too mister!" She said, pointing a finger at me. I laughed and went back into my room.
"I will, I promise." I said. I handed her one of my black jackets which she gladly put on. I was already wearing a long sleeve and a hoodie but I out on one of my other black jackets.
"Look! We match!" She said excitedly. I laughed and kissed her forehead before gently grabbing her hand and guiding her out to the balcony. Her touch electrified me yet made me feel safe and warm. I grabbed one of my guitars and we sat out in my lounge chairs. Not liking how far away she was from me, I pulled her chair closer to me, which made her giggle. The sound made my heart flutter and I smiled.
"Any requests?" I asked her. She thought for a moment, biting her bottom lip as she thought. Suddenly she turned to me, her eyes twinkling.
"Thinking Out Loud by Ed?" She asked. I smiled, nodded, and began to strum away and sing. I watched her as I sang, and she kept her eyes on me too, smiling at me. Her smile is like a work of art. Eventually the song came to an end, and she clapped her hands, causing me laugh.
"Do you want another one darling?" I asked. She thought for a moment.
"Yes but you choose. Just keep singing babe." She said with a smile and leaned back in the chair, closing her eyes. I sang a few songs before noticing that she was beginning to fall asleep. She always said that my voice was soothing and relaxing to her. I stopped playing guitar and gently shook her to wake her up.
"Come on love, let's go to bed." I said. She rubbed her eyes and turned to me, looking confused.
"Did I fall asleep while you were playing for me?" She asked. I nodded.
"Yeah. Now come on sleepy head." I said with a chuckle. She giggled and stood up.
"Sorry I fell asleep, your voice is just so relaxing. You sound like an angel sent from above. Actually, I'm pretty sure that you are an angel sent from above." She said as I walked her to bed. I laughed.
"It's okay. Let's get that jacket off you, yeah? Don't want you sweating buckets onto my bed, now do we?" I teased. She laughed her angelic laugh, and shook her head.
"Nope." She said. She got under the covers and I kissed her head.
"I'll be right back, I just have to bring the guitar in." I said. She nodded and I could tell that she was already half asleep. I grabbed my guitar, put it on my couch, and walked back into my bedroom to find Y/n curled up and fully asleep. I chuckled as I got into bed and pulled her close to me. I love the fact that she feels comfortable enough to randomly come over to my place, and I love her.
