120. You're Stressed From Work
A/n: Okay so I know that today is Saturday, but let's pretend that it's Friday. I hope that you enjoy this imagine! Okay, let's begin!
"Okay Y/n, have a nice night." My boss said.
"Thanks Patrick, you too." I said. As soon as he was out of my office, I sighed and packed up my things. I had gotten to work at six o'clock that morning, and by the time that I was finished with all of my work for the day, it was ten o'clock at night. That's a sixteen hour work day. I had barely even been able to text my husband, singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes. I would usually text him during my lunch break, but I had to keep working during that time too.
I finally finished packing up my things and headed to my car. As soon as I got in and shut the door, I let my head fall back against the headrest and closed my eyes for a moment before opening them again and starting the car. I turned on the radio and instantly heard my husband's song, In My Blood, come on. I smiled as I looked down at my wedding ring. I got onto the road but could still feel the stress of work. Thank God tomorrow is a Saturday. I pulled in the driveway and saw that Shawn's jeep, JBone, was there too, and the living room light was on. I walked in the door and saw Shawn sitting on the couch. He smiled when he saw me.
"Hello Mrs. Mendes. How was your day?" Shawn asked as he walked over to me. I smiled at the name that he called me. We've been married for eight months now and I don't think being called Mrs. Mendes or Shawn referring to me as his wife will ever get old. I took my heels off and wrapped my arms around his torso. I sighed as he wrapped his arms around me too and rubbed my back.
"Long." I said.
"Well considering the fact that you left for work at five thirty this morning and now it's ten thirty, I'd consider that a pretty long day my love." Shawn said with a chuckle. I gave him a weak smile and nodded.
"Yeah. It was a sixteen hours long work day. Thank God it's the weekend though and I get to spend time with my amazing husband." I said with a more real smile this time. Shawn smiled back at me before ducking down and putting his soft lips on my chapped ones. I felt my heart race like crazy, like it was going to beat out of my chest at any moment, I felt butterflies erupt and fly around in my stomach, and I felt sparks shoot through my body like fireworks on the fourth of July. Shawn and I smiled into the kiss, causing us to pull away.
"I love you, my amazing wife." Shawn said.
"I love you too my dear. Now, how about we get some wine in my system?" I asked. Shawn chuckled.
"Here, let me get it for you honey. You go get changed into more comfortable clothes, take your make up off, and then come back down and sit on the couch." Shawn said. I smiled at him before cupping the back of his neck with my hand to pull him back down to my lips for a sweet and gentle kiss. I went upstairs and changed into sweatpants, a long sleeve, and Shawn's pink hoodie, which is my favorite hoodie of his. I went back downstairs and sat on the couch as Shawn handed me a glass of red wine.
"Thank you Shawn." I said.
"You're welcome Y/n. You've had a long day, you deserve to relax. And you want to know something?" Shawn said and asked.
"What?" I asked.
"Tomorrow will be dedicated to just the two of us, and you're not allowed to do anything. No laundry, no dishes, no sweeping, no vacuuming, nothing. The house can wait. Your relaxation, however, can not. I will be catering to you and all of your needs all day long." Shawn said, sincerity laced in his voice. I smiled at him and put my hand to his cheek so I could rub it with my thumb.
"What did I do to deserve you?" I asked. Shawn kissed my forehead, and the spot that he had kissed was left feeling tingly even after his lips left it.
"I ask myself what I did to deserve you every single day. I've been asking myself that ever since the day that we started dating." Shawn said. My eyes filled with happy tears and soon a couple of them ran over onto my cheeks. Once Shawn saw the tears, a look of concern became etched across his face. "What's wrong my love?"
"I'm just really happy that I love someone so much who loves me back just as much." I said as Shawn wiped away my tears with the pad of his thumb. I soon stopped crying.
"Come give your husband a kiss." Shawn said, causing me to giggle. I immediately put my lips on his and felt all of the same familiar feelings that I did before. The heart racing, the butterflies, the sparks, it all felt magical. We soon pulled away, breathless from our amazing kiss.
"You make me feel like I'm living in a fairy tale Shawn." I said. Shawn smiled at me, and I could see all of his love and adoration for me in his eyes. "You make me feel so special and loved."
"Honey, you are so special and loved. You're so precious to me and everyone that knows you - but especially me." Shawn said. I smiled and went to lean my head on his shoulder, the glass of wine that I had barely touched was still in my hand, but I leaned too far and spilled wine all over Shawn's pink hoodie. I immediately sat up and put the glass of wine down as tears formed in my eyes. First, I've had the most stressful day at work, and right when I'm starting to feel better and relax, I mess up.
"Oh my gosh Shawn I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your hoodie. Oh and this is one of your favorites, I'm so sorry." I said, tears streaming down my face. Shawn turned me so I was facing him and helped me take the hoodie off as I sobbed.
"It's okay, I'll be right back, okay?" Shawn asked. I simply just nodded as he went downstairs to where our washing machine is. When he came back upstairs, I was still sobbing, but by now I was also tugging at my hair. Shawn pulled my hands away from my hair as he sat down on the coffee table in front of me.
"I'm so sorry Shawn, I'll buy you a new one if you want. I'm really, really, sorry that I ruined it." I said. Shawn sat back down next to me and pulled me onto his lap. He rubbed slow circles on my back, attempting to soothe me.
"Shhh, shhhh, it's okay, everything's okay. You didn't ruin it. It's just a little stain and it should come out in the wash, okay? I got you honey, it's okay." Shawn said, trying to reassure me, but the pent up stress of the whole work week came out in uncontrollable sobs that wouldn't stop. "Is there something else going on? You know, besides the hoodie?"
"I've hated this whole work week. I hated it. There's so much going on at work and they're giving me so much stuff to do. It feels like the stack on my desk just keeps getting bigger and bigger. And every single time they hand me something, they say that it's high priority. Like, what am I supposed to do if all of it is high priority? I just can't handle all of this, it's too much. I'm trying so, so, hard to be able to handle it, but it's getting to be a real big struggle." I said as I continued to sob. Shawn continued to rub my back.
"Oh honey, why didn't you tell me that you were this stressed out?" Shawn asked. I suddenly felt bad as a pang of guilt shot through me.
"I didn't want to worry you or burden you. I'm so sorry Shawn, I should've told you sooner, I'm sorry." I said.
"It's okay my love. Y/n, you never, ever, burden me. You are not a burden, understand?" Shawn said and asked. I nodded as my tears slowed down and Shawn continued to rub my back.
"Okay. I love you." I said with a smile as my tears stopped. Shawn sent me a warm and loving smile back.
"I love you too, my wifey. Now come on, let's get you to bed." Shawn said as he patted my leg. Him calling me his wifey caused me to giggle. I stood up and started to head toward the stairs before stopping and turning around.
"I almost forgot about the wine glasses, let me just put them in the dishwasher." I said. Shawn gently grabbed my wrist, not letting me walk any further. I turned around to give him a look of confusion. He shook his head.
"Leave them baby, I'll take care of them in the morning. You need your rest. You've had a long week, and you look exhausted." Shawn said. I looked back at the wine glasses before sighing and nodding.
"Okay." I said to Shawn. He smiled at me and then scooped me into his arms so he could carry me up to bed. I squealed and giggled, causing Shawn to chuckle. Shawn laid me down on the bed and covered me up before getting in on his side of the bed. As soon as he was underneath the blankets, I scooted as close to him as humanly possible, and put my head on his chest so I could listen to the soothing beat of his heart. Our bodies molded together perfectly, like we were two puzzle pieces that fit together.
"Y/n?" Shawn asked. I looked up at him.
"Yes Shawny?" I asked.
"I just want to say that I'm sorry that I didn't realize that you were so stressed earlier. I feel like I've let you down, you know? I'm your husband, I'm supposed to know when you're upset." Shawn said. I straddled him and held his face in my hands.
"Shawn, it's okay. You in no way at all let me down. Not one single bit. It's okay that you didn't realize that I was stressed. Honey, this is all on me. I should have let you know about it and told you. It's okay, all right handsome?" I said and asked. Shawn nodded and I stopped straddling him and put my head back on his chest and closed my eyes.
"Good night Mrs. Mendes. I love you." Shawn said. I smiled and kissed his jaw. He kissed the top of my head.
"Good night Mr. Mendes. I love you too." I said, and I could hear Shawn smile. I soon fell into a deep slumber.
After many hours of sleep, I was woken up by the sound of my husband's voice. It sounded like he was in the bathroom. I rubbed the tiredness out of my eyes and looked at the bathroom door. It was shut.
"Yes, I know that she has work to do, but she's completely exhausted. How is she supposed to work if she can barely even function right now? If she keeps getting pushed to work like this, I'm worried that she's going to have a breakdown or something. Sir, it's the weekend, that means that it's time to relax and unwind. I've already promised her that today will be spent by her doing nothing and me catering to her, and I don't intend on breaking that promise. I'm her husband, it's my job to take care of her. Okay, thank you for understanding. Have a nice day. Bye." Shawn said to someone over the phone. Was he talking to someone from my work? From the sounds of it, he must have been. Shawn soon walked out of the bathroom, my phone in his hand. When he saw that I was awake, he smiled.
"Good morning handsome. Were you talking to someone from my work?" I asked Shawn as he sat down on the bed next to me as I sat up. He nodded and sighed.
"Good morning gorgeous. Yeah, they wanted you to come in today, but I took care of it. Why don't you stay in bed and I'll go make you some pancakes?" Shawn asked. I leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
"I want to come downstairs with you. I'll just sit on the counter while you make them. With all of these late nights at work, I've barely been able to see my husband, and I miss him." I said as I brushed a stray curl out of his face. He thought for a moment before nodding.
"Okay. Come on honey." Shawn said as he stood up, and I did too. I slipped my hand into his and our fingers intertwined. His touch gave me sparks of electricity yet I felt safe and warm at the same time. We walked down the stairs holding hands and when we got into the kitchen, Shawn picked me up and put me on the counter. Shawn was wearing a pair of gray sweatpants and a blue long sleeve shirt that hugged his biceps, causing me to practically drool. I eyed him up and down and licked my lips. How is he all mine? Suddenly, Shawn started to laugh.
"What?" I asked, feeling confused.
"You eyed me up and down and then licked your lips. Do you like what you see baby girl?" Shawn asked with a smirk on his face. I bit my lower lip and nodded.
"Yeah, I do. I like it a lot." I said, and went back to biting my lower lip as I stared at his biceps.
"Don't do that." Shawn said.
"Don't do what?" I asked, feeling confused once again.
"Don't bite your lip. You know that it drives me crazy." Shawn said. I rolled my eyes. Shawn walked over to me and stood between my legs before he started to make the pancakes. He took his thumb and put it to my lips, tracing them. I put my hands on his biceps and squeezed, loving the feeling of his muscles. He chuckled before placing his lips on mine for a sweet, gentle, and loving kiss.
"I love you Shawn." I said with a smile. He smiled back at me.
"I love you too Y/n." He said before putting his lips back on mine. He pulled me closer to him, but kept me on the counter. Suddenly, his kisses turned from sweet, gentle, and loving, to hungry and lustful. We eventually pulled away from each other so we could catch our breaths. I noticed that his eyes were dark with lust and hungry.
"You're like a drug Shawn, and I'm hooked on you." I said. Shawn smiled before pulling me in for another lustful kiss and as soon as he slipped his tongue into my mouth, I knew he wanted more.
"How about we take this upstairs and into the bedroom to help you relax some more? Hm?" Shawn asked. I smiled.
"What about the pancakes?" I asked. He chuckled and shook his head.
"The pancakes can wait my love. Come on, let's go upstairs and help you relax." Shawn said. I giggled as he picked me up and carried me up to our bedroom. Needless to say, our day was very relaxing and I will forever be grateful for my amazing husband.
