Chapter 2- Why do I even bother trying anymore?

Lynn, Alex, and Andy finally stopped running once they were out of Ilex Forest.

"Well Lynn looks like I was right," Andy said with a smug grin.

"Shut up. Let's just go to Goldenrod." Lynn huffed.

"Can I catch a Pokémon there?" Alex requested.

"What do you think?"

"Yes?"

"Alex..." Lynn sighed and walked off towards Goldenrod City.

"Well, I might as well follow them. Or not. I don't really care that much." Andy said. "Besides they don't need to be in my story. I've waited fifteen years for this, so it's about time I take the spotlight! Now if I want to be the champion of the world I should probably train David. But he did just beat those Houndoom, plus I don't really feel like battling. Well, time for a really out of place stealth mission!"

Route 35 was basically a straight line to Goldenrod city. There was a path full of trainers on it but there was also a path through the grass that only had one trainer standing at the edge of the grass. The only real point of interest was the day care.

"I'm Agent Double O 05!" Andy tiptoed past one of the trainers that were just standing there. He moved forward and saw that the next trainer would be impossible to avoid. So he took out his hoverboard and cloaking device and flew right over all the trainers and then became the champion of the universe! No! None of that happened. Instead, Andy imagined all that happening. Boo!

"Alright, how will I get past this guy? I need some type of plot armor or a plot device to get me past this guy."

Suddenly a bunch of cat aliens flew in and began abducting people! Andy escaped but the entire route was cleared so he was fine. Then he became the champion of the universe! Dude just give up. None of that happened either.

"Man Author you sure are a stickler. Well, I guess I'll just have to..." Andy shuddered. "Walk through the grass." Tall grass stood up, allowing for a path around the trainer. But the chance of encountering a wild Pokémon was high.

"I can do this. For Narnia!" Andy ran into the grass and after blindly dashing through he somehow didn't encounter any Pokémon and ended up avoiding the trainer.

"Awesome! Oh hey, the day care. If I had another Pokémon I might just leave it there for some levels. Then again I'm also broke so I don't know. Wish I had my Gameshark." Andy walked down the path and into Goldenrod City.

Goldenrod City was the largest city in all of Johto. Buildings were everywhere, whether it was the Radio Tower, the Department Store, the Pokémon Center, the Bike Shop, Game Corner, gym, and even more! The walkway was made up of golden bricks and lit by the many street lamps lining the roads.

"Man this place gets cooler every time." Andy murmured. "Now where is my next meal? I mean Lynn's wallet! I mean Lynn..'s wallet."

Lynn and Alex were touring the city. They'd just left the flower shop.

"Lynn where's Andy?" Alex asked.

"Who cares? He only hangs out with us because I actually battle trainers and make money." Lynn replied, taking Alex's hand and walking towards the gym.

"That's not true! He likes hanging out with us! Right?"

"Alex look. There are good people, and then there's Andy. Andy's the kind of person you don't want to rely on or count on." Lynn explained.

"So Andy is a bad person?"

"Exactly. He doesn't care about anybody but himself."

"Then why does he follow us around?" Alex asked.

"Because I haven't mastered the roundhouse kick yet." Lynn smiled, Alex looked away. "I'm kidding! Look I'll tell him to bug off next time we see him. For now, let's just enjoy the beautiful town."

"Yeah the sunset is really pretty," Alex said.

Meanwhile, Andy was doing something way more important than them! And what is this important thing? He was...um... in the underground! "So what you're saying, is you'll give my Pokémon a haircut. Even though David doesn't have any hair?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"A good hair stylist never reveals his secrets."

"That's magicians. Though that would explain your hair abilities." Andy grinned. "Would you say that you're a wizard, hairy?"

"My name isn't Harry."

"Wow, you're dense. Well, I better get going before Lynn and Alex start to miss me. Later Hairy."

"My name isn't Harry." Andy walked out of the underground without responding.

"Now if I was Lynn, well if I was Lynn that'd be my worst nightmare, she is so boring. Wait where was I? Oh right. Where would I be?" Andy noticed Lynn and Alex walking from the gym towards the Department Store. "There they are!" Andy suddenly had a genius idea and pulled the book from his pocket.

The lights suddenly vanished in the street of Goldenrod city and a piano appeared out of nowhere in front of Andy. He began playing it perfectly and didn't make a single mistake even though he'd never played it in his life.

"This is apparently a musical now! There were no hints before! We're literally at chapter two and we're now singing a song! Even though you don't know how it goes, I'm sure when we get the movie it will show. We'll write a tune and see it soon, or maybe not. I don't know! This apparently a musical now! Even though it doesn't fit the genre! Now we're singing songs for fun! Even though it makes no sense, I mean let's be real. When has anything Author wrote made sense?" Andy sung perfectly. Oh my god, I look away for five seconds! Actually, forget it, I want to see where this is going.

"Music is something that exists! Lyrics! More lyrics! Yeah! And I bet you're all probably making up a tune. Just take one from some generic jazz song with the piano or any song with the piano really. If I'm being honest, this is just filler! But it's a filler night! Do you think Michael Jackson would be offended by that? I bet he would. I would be too. But I didn't write the song so I don't really care!"

Andy stopped singing for a moment "I wish we could like, perform a hit song from like Frozen, but then Disney would probably have us arrested. Honestly, I don't see why. This is non-profit! If it was profit we'd actually be making quality work. And no Author, nobody counts this as quality work! Wait am I still singing? I already did the second verse. Do you want a third? No way am I doing that." Andy stopped playing the piano and stood up.

"Andy, what the heck just happened?" Lynn demanded walking up to him with Alex in tow.

"I did a musical number. Thought that was pretty obvious, it'll either be the only one and really out of place or we'll make more of them. Depends." Andy replied.

"Andy you should never sing."

"Oh, and you're SO much better!"

"I've never sung with you in a fifty-mile radius. How would you know!"

"Well according to the book you're never going to sing and this is the only musical number so I guess we'll never find out," Andy reported, holding the book in his hands.

"You and this 'book' thing again. I swear one of these days I'll stop tolerating you."

"Why do you keep me around? I'm not even related to you."

"I've been asking that question ever since I met you."

"Hey, Audience don't start shipping us now. Well, that's assuming people are reading this book. I'm guessing it's one person, maybe two if this gets entered into the PokemonWattys and they HAVE to read it. I'm so sorry person! I feel you, man or woman! Don't want to offend anyone."

"Please stop your crackpot talk and let's get going," Lynn said.

"Whatever mom." Andy rolled his eyes. No, she wasn't actually his mom. Just have to clear that up. Nobody thought she was.

"But Lynn I thought you were going to tell h-" Alex said.

"Not now Alex. I'm just too exhausted. In the morning." Lynn promised.

"That's what you've said every day for two weeks." Alex reminded her.

"Lynn, are you planning on getting rid of me?" Andy asked.

"Fine. Yes." Lynn said. "So just go away."

"Eh how about no," Andy suggested.

"Andy I swear, you do not want to make me angry right now." Lynn let go of Alex's hand and clenched her fists.

"Lynn, we both know I know what your job really was. So I hate to do this, but unless you want me to spread the word you should keep your mouth shut."

Lynn's face flushed red. "Why I oughta!"

Alex had his head tilted to one said and tapped his temple, trying to figure out what they were talking about.

"And for the record, I am a great singer!" Andy said.

"You are the worst human in existence!" Lynn punched Andy in the nose, turned, and ran off.

"Yikes. She can really punch. Not a problem." Andy's nose magically healed. No. It didn't. Yes, it did. NO, IT DIDN'T! Why do I even bother trying anymore?

"Andy... Where did Lynn go?" Alex asked tears welled up in his eyes.

"Um. I dunno. Go follow her." Alex opened his mouth to say something but closed it and ran off in Lynn's direction. "Man it feels like we're reaching the climax already. The pacing in this story is just off. They'll turn up eventually." Andy shrugged and turned to walk off, but he bumped into a man standing in the way.

"'Scuse me sir but get the hell out of my way," Andy ordered.

"You may want to watch yer mouth. Especially since you're alone. It's dangerous to go alone doncha know." The man snarled.

"Yeah well take this!" Andy kicked the man's shin, a moment later he grabbed his foot. "OW! What are you wearing? Iron shin guards?"

"I've actually been kicked by ten-year-olds harder than that."

"What if I said I was nine?"

"I'd conk you over the head and steal yer Pokémon and anythin' of value."

"Alright well, I'm just gonna go then."

"No yer not."

"Let me guess, you're gonna conk me over the head and steal mer Pokémon and anythin' of value, you discount pirate."

"I take great offense to that!" The man swung at Andy but Andy barely avoided the punch.

Andy smirked. "Oh yeah? Well, I take great offense to your face!" Andy turned and ran off.

"GET HIM!" The man screamed.
