Chapter 10- Andy just HAD to ransack an abandoned home!
The group walked into Mahogany Town completely exhausted after a long trip through the ice.
Mahogany Town was a very small little cluster of buildings. There was a few houses, a gym, and a Pokémon Center. It wasn't exactly a place to rest but they didn't have much of a choice.
The sun was setting pretty quickly and the group was fairly eager to find somewhere to rest.
A cool breeze signified that they weren't in for a warm night if they slept outdoors.
Andy was groaning at the thought of having to sleep on the ground again but for whatever reason, the Nurse Joy probably wouldn't let him sleep in there.
It didn't make any sense to him. They were mystical non-profit always running hospitals with identical ladies at each one.
And they were all bitches. Yeah, I said it. Bitch. Take it in readers. Andy is tired and cursing. Shut up, Andy.
Alex ran into the small town all wide-eyed. "Wow! What a place this is! We should go to the big lake!"
Lynn shook her head. "Absolutely not. I want to get to Ecruteak as soon as possible. We're only stopping for tonight to rest."
"And," Andy followed after them. "Where exactly are we going to rest? This place doesn't exactly have a hotel. Come to think of it I never see hotels anywhere."
Lynn stared back at him with an eyebrow raised. "Andy you do know you can stay at Pokémon Centers right? It's a bit pricey but in this weather, I don't feel like slumming it outside."
Andy stood there with his mouth agape. "You mean to tell me-that Nurse Joy-AGH!" Andy could barely form words in his unjustified fury.
SHE THREW ME OUT! SHE RUNS A HOTEL! WHAT THE HELL? THIS GAME I SWEAR!
Lynn decided to ignore Andy furiously scribbling into his book and walked into not the Pokémon Center.
Andy rushed after her into the heated building. Lynn and Andy had their Pokémon healed and Lynn got a room from Nurse Joy.
The magical mystery that was where she got the space for these rooms could only be explained by the fact that Pokémon Centers are magic pocket dimensions.
Andy was about to follow Lynn and Alex down the hall when she whipped around. "Andy, aren't you going to get your own room?"
Andy hadn't considered the fact that bunking with Lynn and Alex would be really weird. "Yeah makes enough sense." He shrugged and went back to the counter while his two friends uh no went to their room.
"Yo Joy. How much for a room?" Andy asked.
Nurse Joy looked up from her crossword puzzle. "5000 Pokedollars."
Andy checked his wallet and found that he was about 3000 short. But then found about 2000 in his back pocket. Cmon man don't do this to me. Shouldn't have had all those sandwiches.
Can we at least skip through the part where I die of hypothermia?
The sun slowly rose over the small town. Andy woke up sitting on a bench and slowly got up. He was freezing but fortunately hadn't received any serious medical afflictions from the long night.
And his back totally didn't hurt at all. Plus he didn't feel like he hadn't showered in two weeks either.
Andy then took out an apple and called up his moon bus. Which took him out to space and just stop trying Andy.
You'll let me do a musical number but I can't take a moon bus? What even is a moon bus exactly? It's a bus that goes to the moon. It's in the name. Andy, I think it's time to give up. You're not going to win this. Man auth you're l a m i. Lame. Wait a second I'm writing this how did I even manage to do that?
Lynn and Alex walked outside about an hour later to see Andy trying to deface the gym's sign.
"Hehe, Andy is cooler than you. Perfect!" Andy said as he etched the message into the gym sign.
Lynn facepalmed. "Andy, what are you doing?"
"Looks fun! Can I do it?" Alex asked.
"No."
"Yes. Here." Andy tossed Alex his tool and Lynn snatched it from her brother's hands and launched it into the woods.
"Hey! Lynn do you have any idea how hard that was to steal?" Andy asked. "Because I sure don't. I don't even remember getting it honestly."
"Just shut up Andy. Let's get going." Lynn said. She grabbed Alex by the hand and they marched off.
Andy stood up and jogged after her. "Lynn! Come on there's one thing we should check out before we go! There's probably some really cool stuff we can stea-I mean find!"
Lynn shook her head. "No way Andy. We've wasted enough time as it is with all the detours. I want to get to Ecruteak ASAP."
Andy crossed his arms. "Fine be that way. Hey Alex, have fun missing out on this super cool secret base I'm going to."
"Cool secret base? That sounds SO COOL! Can we go, Lynn? Please? Pretty please? I really want to see it! Please?"
Lynn smacked the smug grin off of Andy as she caved to Alex's pleading. "Fine Andy. What's this thing that you just 'had' to see?"
Andy led them to an old run-down shack and broke in the door. Then he pushed some furniture over and ransacked the place.
Ok, you're definitely making this worse than it is.
Lynn sighed disapprovingly. "Andy. Why are we ransacking an abandoned house?" Alex ran off and started kicking things over to join the fun.
"So basically, back in the day, there was a rocket base down here. I bet they left a ton of stuff in there. So it's basically free money!" Andy explained as he knocked over a giant dresser and revealed a wooden staircase leading down into darkness.
Lynn's expression was a mixture of disgust and surprise. "Wow, you were actually right about something. This is new."
The group walked down the stairs and into the abandoned base. Their feet echoed down the empty metal hallways.
The lights had long gone out and the entire place seemed dead. The air was stale and the only sounds were the groups' footsteps.
The group slowly walked through the first floor of the building finding no riches LAME and no signs of life.
They crept to the next floor and had far better luck. Andy found quite a few trinkets and even some money left behind.
The team of three continued on without saying or finding much until the came across a room separated from everything else.
It appeared to be some sort of office. Full of pictures, various documents, a desk, and a somehow still working computer. As well as a nice stash of Pokedollars that Andy was forced to split with Lynn. Which was ultra lame of her.
"Looks like that's everything," Lynn said. "Let's get out of here now. This place gives me the creeps."
"Oooh, are you scared, Lily?" Alex asked.
"Well, I'm not scared I just would rather not be here," Lynn answered.
Andy chuckled. "Don't listen to her Alex. She's totally scared."
"Am not!" Lynn said.
"Oh totally not. I couldn't imagine you being scared." Andy said, practically dripping with sarcasm.
"Boo!" Alex shouted from behind Lynn as Weedle crawled up her back.
"EEEEK!" Lynn screamed and she jumped into the air.
Andy and Alex pointed and laughed at her. "You looked! So stupid! Ha!" Andy chuckled.
"I...did...a...funny!" Alex choked out between laughs.
Lynn wasn't too pleased with their hysterics. She slid Weedle down Andy's shirt and he began to freak out.
"Ahh! There's something on me! There's something on me!"
After everything with Weedle had been settled and the laughter had died down the group got ready to leave.
Andy charged ahead into the darkness and tripped on a loose tile. "Ow!"
Lynn began to laugh. "Andy only you could look like an idiot while raiding a secret base!"
Andy stood up and flared at her. "At least I have bigger ambitions than-" He opened up his book and flipped through it. "You're going to be a waitress? Yeah, have fun with that for the next 60 years of your life."
"How did you even? Ugh, whatever Andy! At least I'm actually realistic. Your stupid dream of 'taking over the universe.' Obviously won't ever happen. What are you actually going to do with your life when you don't have anybody to bother anymore?" Lynn snapped.
Alex tilted his head. "Andy isn't staying with us?"
Andy laughed. "Of course not kid. I've got bigger dreams than just 'getting by' at some boring town."
Alex frowned. "But you're our friend. Why would you leave us?"
"He's not our friend." Lynn corrected
"I'm not your friend," Andy said at the same time as Lynn.
"Oh." Alex whimpered.
"Way to go Andy! Now Alex is sad because he has to face the reality that people like you exist!" Lynn pointed her finger in Andy's face.
Andy narrowed his eyes. "Lynn, have you ever considered that maybe I'd care a little more about you and that sorry sack of flesh you carry around if you actually were real?"
"You really think this is some sort of fantasy realm, don't you?" Lynn whispered.
"Lynn. You are not real." Andy whipped out his book and pen and shoved them into her face. "Read it. No better. Write something down into it. Something simple and watch it happen."
Lynn scribbled something into the book. Lynn knew what time it was. Andy grabbed the book back. Suddenly she gasped. She looked at the time on the computer monitor in the office and gasped again.
"Oh my god. This thing is... it's..." Lynn grabbed onto the table so she wouldn't pass out.
Andy's smug grin returned. "Told you so Lynn. Now if you'll kindly shut up and have a bit of fun knowing nothing matters." And let's just remember to ignore the bold.
Oh come on! Fine, guess I can't prove it to her then.
Lynn seemed ready to punch Andy in the face. "You're so wrapped up in your own conspiracy that you can't even understand that we're hurt by your actions? You've screwed me over time and time again Andy! I've had it! How can you think you're not a bad person?"
"I never said I wasn't a bad person. I just said it ain't real so I might as well live how I want to. This little fantasy realm is my playground, Lynn. You're just a means to a meal for me."
Alex began to cry watching the conversation unfold. "Andy, stop being such a meanie! Stop saying these things!"
Andy faced the small boy. "And why should I? They're true. And you guys don't seem to get it so I have to spell it out for you. Whatever, I'm out of here. This is an Andy Only Adventure from now on!" Andy turned to storm out when he bumped into a Gramps Grunt.
All he could process was that ten of them were there before he had his lights punched out and things went dark.
