In the middle of the night when darkness had enveloped the earth, she looked over at the figure on her left and after a while  she carefully  pulled the covers off her body. Her right foot made contact with the soft carpet on the floor. She turned and focused on the figure at her left. Her eyes  reflected confidence and with new found determination her left foot also kissed the floor. She silently moved to the wardrobe, removed her night gown  and she changed into a dress.

She  tiptoed to the door silently,she opened it slowly making sure no sound came from it,before leaving the room, she turned and looked at the figure on the bed and her heart beat increased , she was scared, but she needed it.

As soon as she was out of the room, she increased her pace, she turned the door knob of another room and she opened it silently, the pink walls with diagrams of cartoons welcomed her, she rushed  to the small bed  which was perfectly placed in the middle and she shook the little girl on it impatiently

"Emma wake up we need to go" She whispered in her ears.

The little girl whined "Mummy_"

"I have said we need to go" She cut her off rudely.

She carried her off the bed. She ran  to the closet and pulled it, behind it was a suitcase , she ran back to the little girl "Emma no talking we going to be okay " She stroked her hair "okay?"
The little girl nodded with fear evident in her eyes.

Confidence clouded her face"Okay we go"

She peeped in the hallway first, it was as silent as a grave yard.

She caught Emma's hand in hers and they tiptoed downstairs. She rummaged through a basket on the counter and she got her keys.

Carefully, she opened the front door silently, she allowed Emma out first and she also followed with the suitcase. She ran to her car, placed Emma inside. She first made sure that she was safe before she also ran to the driver's seat. Immediately she turned the engine to life and the car sped off at a very high speed.

A wave of hope blew over her face the moment they hit the road, she looked over at Emma, and with a smile  she whispered "Mummy got you

Tears of joy threatened to spill out of her eyes, her eyes glittered in happiness.

Whatever they were running from, wherever they were going no one knew.

One thing they were sure of they were to start in a new life.
