Chapter Two

Vórimarac groaned and opened his eyes. He stared at the ceiling for a few moments before rolling out of bed. He was not sure how long had since he made the deal with Melkor and Marion. Days and weeks blurred together making his concept of time now near none existent. He stretched and stopped. He looked to the side of his room and sighed he turned away and left his room pulling his hood over his head.

"Well good morning," Mairon said to him as he passed. Vórimarac just grumbled a reply and kept walking. Prompting Mairon to follow him and he said, "Did not sleep again?"

"I did. Not for that long though," He replied.

"It's interesting. Everything about you is different but you get nightmares that are related to Maedhros's life."  Mairon said. Vórimarac just shrugged and kept walking till he got outside Angband's fortress. He figured a long time must have passed since he became Vórimarac. He looked different now and his fighting skills improved. He also trained a lot still since he could not sleep most of the times so he trained during those times. He most likely could hold his own against a Valar if needed and fight a Maiar easily. He leaned against a wall and closed his eyes leaning his head back.

"Vórimarac?" A voice said.

Vórimarac opened his eyes and glared forward. "What?" He asked the orc his voice cold.

"A small group of elves has been sighted within these borders." He replied.

He sighed as he leaned forward and moved pulled up his mask. He walked the distance and stood on top of a cliff that overlooked where the elves were. Vórimarac looked down at the elves and judging by how they were dressed and looked it seemed they were just travelers. Just bad luck it seemed to have them wounder here. Vórimarac drew his sword and jumped down.

A few minutes later he was done. The intruders were disposed of, Vórimarac just whipped his sword off with the edge of his cloak and slid it away. He did not care he just killed his own kind and it did not matter to him. In reality, this helped soothed his bloodlust but only slightly. He just stepped over the bodies and went back to his post.

Mairon looked up as Vórimarac stalked in and sat down in the open chair. He grabbed a bottle of wine that was on the table and took a long drink from it. "I heard a group of elves were in Angband's borders," Mairon said.

"They are dead if you want someone can get their bodies for you to study for your weird books," Vórimarac replied as he took another drink.

"You read them," Mairon pointed out.

"Since it's that or reading what Melkor wrote," He said.

Mairon sighed and said, "I have told him he should not write anything."

Vórimarac just ignored him and went back to drinking. He knew he was a mess, he had nightmares that made him an insomniac, he drank to sooth the chaos that ruled his mind, he had periodic hallucinations and a bit too much bloodlust. Yet, this was who he was all these things combined into a deadly warrior. Yet, as much as some will think otherwise he saw things through a much clearer lens.

"Vórimarac?" Mairon asked looking at him.

"Hmm?" Vórimarac replied looking at him slightly.

"You did change your deal with us that now that you had what you wanted you'll just be work for hire," Mairon said.

"Your point?" Vórimarac asked putting down the now empty bottle.

"If someone offered you something more will you betray us?" Mairon asked.

"It's not betrayal. I am working for hire but keep paying with this and money you are set." He said.

"So that's a yes," Mairon said.

"Basically," Vórimarac shrugged as he leaned back in his chair.

Mairon looked at him and laughed. "I know I have said this before but this new you is much fascinating." He said.

Vórimarac rolled his eyes and sat forward. "Whatever...also if you want some help for what you're working on." He said standing up. Looking at the map of Angband that Mairon was looking at to see where the defense should be strengthened. "The defense is weakened here..here...and here."

Mairon looked down at the map and circled those areas with a quill but when he looked up Vórimarac already left. He chuckled to himself, Vórimarac sure was interesting. He changed even more over his time here when first becoming Vórimarac. He was very interested to see how things will happen with him like this. All Mairon could do is wait and see.
