Chapter 11: Kusanagi

Fun Fact: Hiroshi Shinto was in the same graduating Academy class as Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki.

2 years later

A swirl of leaves twirled high up in the air around the bright red Hokage building. The sunlight shined through it's windows, illuminating the inside of the Hokage's office where Hiruzen Sarutobi sat quietly smoking his pipe and going through the piles and piles of papers on his desk which had only increased with the beginning of the war two years ago.

The Third Shinobi World War was something Hiruzen had tried to avoid at all cost. But in the end, it was inevitable. Relations with Iwagakure and the other nations had taken a turn for the worst. The Second Shinobi War had left the Five Great Nations in a difficult position all leading to this current war. There was nothing he could have done to save all the lives of the shinobi and children fighting out in the battle fields far from their homes.

Hiruzen leaned back sighing, trying to enjoy the rare peace and quiet of his office. That is, until he heard shouts coming from the hall, only getting louder and louder by the second.

"—I did too!"

"No you didn't."

"You bastard! I'm going to beat you black and blue!"

"Yeah, yeah. Tell me that when you get your Sharingan." Hiruzen rolled his eyes and groaned as the shouts started coming from right outside his door.

A new, feminine, voice sprung up, "ENOUGH! I don't want to hear it!"

"BUT!"

"SHH!"

"Ahso-"

"ZIP IT!" A deafening silence followed, only broken by a light knock on the office door a moment later.

"Come in." The Hokage called out in a weary voice. The door creaked open revealing an embarrassed looking Minato Namikaze.

"Ah ha ha, sorry for that Hokage-sama. The genin seem to be a bit riled up after the mission." Minato stepped in, sheepishly scratching the back of his neck as the four genin followed him into the office, standing in a straight line in front of the desk.

"I see..." The Hokage deadpanned as he scanned the genin. Rin looked like she wanted the Earth to swallow her right there and then while Ahsoka was sending death glares to the two boys on her left who were nervously sweat dropping.

Hiruzen shook his head, deciding it was best to ignore the problem, "How did the mission go?"

"It was a success, sir. The message was delivered safely to our forces on the Kusagakure border. However, we were ambushed by Iwagakure shinobi hidden further south than expected."

Hiruzen's eyes widened, "They've broken further south?"

Minato's face grew grave, "Hai, it seems they have stationed there to cut off our communications. It was thanks to Ahsoka's sensing abilities and quick thinking that we were able to spot them." He gave his student a warm smile and the auburnette ducked her head with a flattered blush.

Hiruzen seemed pleased at that, "Is that so?" He leaned back on his chair with the slightest upward turn of his lips, "Well then, it's a good thing I planned this for today."

"Huh?" The whole team looked at the Hokage in confusion. Just then, a knock sounded at the door, turning everyone's attention to it.

"Come in." Hiruzen called out. Once more, the door creaked open revealing a brown haired jonin.

"Hokage-sama." Hiroshi Shinto closed the door behind him and bowed his head.

Ahsoka gave a light gasp,"Hiroshi!" She immediately ran up to the man that had taken care of her all these years, "What are you doing here?"

"Hey kiddo, I was called here on an extra special mission." He gave her a wink which only confused the eleven-year old.

He turned to the rest of Team Minato, raising a hand in greeting, "Yo."

"Hiroshi-san!" Obito and Rin beamed at the man who helped mentor them during their Academy days.

"Hiroshi, it's nice to see you again." Minato placed a hand on his hip, an easy smile playing on his lips.

"Minato, it's been a while." Hiroshi went to stand next to the blonde as Ahsoka followed, taking her place between Rin and Obito again.

"You two know each other?" Rin leaned forward, looking between the two men.

Minato turned to them, "Of course, we were in the Academy together." This was followed by a chorus of 'ohhs and ahhhs'

The Hokage cleared his throat, effectively turning everyone's attention back to him, "Now that Hiroshi is here, I will need you to stay, Ahsoka. The rest of you are dismissed."

"Heh?" Ahsoka blinked, followed by immediate sounds of protest and worry.

"Wait, what?! Why does she have to stay?!" Obito demanded an answer.

"Is she in trouble?" Rin looked over at her friend worriedly.

"Is something wrong?" Kakashi crossed his arms.

Hiruzen held a hand up, "There is no need to worry. You may all take your leave now. Go get some rest. I expect written mission reports tomorrow morning. "

The genin groaned but with one last worried look at Ahsoka they walked out the door. Minato grabbed the door handle, giving his student one last warm smile before shutting the door behind him.

Ahsoka watched the door shut with a nervous sweat drop running down her brow.

"So...Ahsoka," She gulped, turning back to the two men. The Hokage leaned forward and placed his hands beneath his chin, "During these past five years you have improved immensely in all areas and I am pleased to say that I am very proud of you."

Ahsoka bowed her head, flattered but confused as to where this was going, "Thank you, Hokage-sama."

Hiruzen looked over at Hiroshi for him to continue. Hiroshi turned to Ahsoka, his head held high and pride in his voice, "And that is why, we think that you are ready for the next step." The jonin wore a pleased grin as he looked down at Ahsoka.

She looked at Hiroshi, eyes scrunched in confusion, "...T-The next step?" Hiruzen then stood up, a hand behind his back while the other held his pipe.

"Well, let's go." Hiruzen smirked at the Aoyama from across his desk.

"G-Go? Go where? What the heck is going on?" Ahsoka stuttered nervously. She suddenly felt a hand push her forward causing her to gasp and stumble.

She snapped her head back to glare at Hiroshi with a pout. He only gave her a cheekish closed-eyed smile as an apology, "Maa, don't be so nervous, kid."

She huffed, "I'd be less nervous if you people would just tell me what's going on."

Hiruzen crossed the office, walking past the two shinobi and grabbing the door handle, "We'll explain when we get there." He said, eyes meeting the Aoyama's.

The dark hallways deep inside the mountain were dimly lit with small torches hanging on the walls every once in a while. The air was cold and dry, giving Ahsoka slight goosebumps. She could sense things here...powerful things, objects, scrolls, and a bunch of other things she didn't want to investigate.

The sound of their three pairs of footsteps bounced off the tight walls, echoing through the maze of corridors. Ahsoka glanced around their surroundings, eyes nervously shifting from side to side.

"You know...if you people wanted to kidnap me you could have done it yeas ago right? I've heard a person costs more when the person is younger! Ehehe..." She laughed nervously as she tried to cover up her uneasiness.

Hiroshi rolled his eyes with an exasperated sigh, "We're not gonna kidnap you, baka." He turned his head to face the girl to his left with a pointed glare, "Besides, you are still pretty young.... You're still a peep squeak you know?" Hiroshi shook his head in amusement.

"I'm not a peep squeak! I'm not young either!" Ahsoka demanded.

The jonin gave the girl a narrowed side glance, "Oh yeah? If you are not young then what am I?"

"..."

"Ancient..."

Hiroshi squawked, "You little brat! You sure have a lot of nerve!" Ahsoka stuck her tongue out at him and pulled on hers lower eye lid as the jonin gritted his teeth.

Hiroshi gave a frustrated huff and crossed his arms as he turned back to face ahead, "Wait-if I'm ancient then what is the Sandaime?" Ahsoka faced forward, deep in thought as she studied the Hokage's back. Said man walking ahead wore an exasperated expression.

"..."

"..."

"A mummy." Ahsoka deadpanned. A tick mark appeared on Hiruzen's forehead as Hiroshi and Ahsoka broke out into muffled laughter and snorts behind him.

"The mummy can hear you two, you know. The mummy can also give out punishments..." That shut the two up quickly.

"Hai!"

The trio continued through a series of hallways into the mountain in silence, making Ahsoka wonder just how deep this maze ran. That was when she felt it...something completely different from anything else in the mountain. A strong, cold, familiar, menacing chakra...it's sheer essence chilling Ahsoka's body to the bone. A chakra she had rarely come in contact with since her arrival at the Hidden Leaf Village.

It was so strong, 'Why didn't I sense him earlier? I know I should have been able to...' She glanced at Hiroshi who appeared to have not felt a thing, 'The only explanation is that he was compressing his chakra before...but why?"

Ahsoka got her answer as they turned left and down a flight of stairs. Waiting at the bottom of those stairs was Danzo Shimura.

His long dark robe and bandaged face giving him an eerie look. The deep X shaped scar sat on his chin only adding to the rough look of his face.

One cold eye fixated itself on Ahsoka as soon as she came into view, examining her from head to toe as if he could find out everything about her with just one look. Honey-colored eyes met him head on, not breaking away from his gaze despite the sweat and shivers rattling her limbs.

"Danzo...This sure is a surprise." The Hokage stopped in front of his long time rival. Danzo tore his gaze away from Ahsoka and turned to Hiruzen.

"Well Hiruzen, I heard that today was a special day for the youngling and I didn't want to miss out on it." The man said in a casual and innocent tone.

Ahsoka stared at the man with furrowed brows and pursed lips. That was when she noticed Hiroshi was glaring cooly at the man, his body perfectly in the way between Danzo and Ahsoka.

Hiruzen sighed, "I suppose you can be present. Though I do not see much point in it."

Ahsoka's eyes widened, darting to the Hokage, 'No, no, please'

Danzo bowed his head, "Thank you Hiruzen," He slowly lifted his head, eyes falling back on the Aoyama, "It means a lot to me."

Ahsoka met his eyes again, fear shining through them. She was trapped, or at least she felt like she was. His cold menacing chakra flared the tiniest bit, so little that Ahsoka was sure she was the only one that felt it.

Hiroshi gritted his teeth, "Hokage-sama, are you sure this is wise? Wouldn't it make Ahsoka uncom-"

"I assure you Hiroshi-san, I will be of no hinderance to the operation." Danzo interrupted the jonin, which only served to fuel Hiroshi's anger and Ahsoka's unease.

Hiroshi was about to say something else when the Hokage held up a hand, "That's enough, Hiroshi." The brown haired man backed off, but not before sending Danzo a glare.

"Will anyone tell me what we are doing here?" Everyone turned to Ahsoka. Her voice came out weaker than she wanted but there was not much she could do about that with the 'Hawk' staring down at her.

She could swear his stare got more intense as she spoke...as if he were taking her every action and word into account.

The Hokage turned to Ahsoka with a kind smile, "Thank you for being so patient Ahsoka. I know it couldn't have been easy."

He then turned to the wall behind Danzo, placing his hand on what looked like a door to a vault that Ahsoka hadn't even noticed, "The answer to that...is right in this room."

Hiruzen ran his hand down some markings before placing it flat against the wall and channeling chakra through it. Blue hues illuminated the markings and bouncing off every surface in the hall for a split second before a deep rumble shook the walls and the door parted to the left.

There was something there...at the very end of the room. Ahsoka could feel it. It felt so strange yet so familiar, warm, energetic...kind? It called to Ahsoka, and for some reason...she wasn't bothered by it.

She was comforted.

With a loud thud the door finished opening and the Hokage turned back to the group. His wrinkled and kind eyes met Ahsoka's, "Please, step inside Ahsoka." The young Aoyama didn't hesitate.

She took carefully measured steps, eyes never leaving the strange glow coming from the vault. She completely ignored Hiroshi and Danzo as she passed, even though Ahsoka could feel the latter burning holes in her back as he watched her.

Hiruzen stepped aside as Ahsoka approached, letting her pass and enter the room.

The bright silver glow bounced off Ahsoka's bright eyes and hair. It even made her skin look paler. But she didn't notice, her full attention was on the short bladed twin swords on the pedestal giving off the silver glow. They had a unique curve to them at the end of their blades, almost like a hook to grab things with. And a gold and maroon hilt that seemed so familiar.

"I've seen these before." She whispered.

"I would assume so...though the fact that you remember them surprises me." Ahsoka hadn't even realized the Sandaime and the others had stepped into the room, "It was you fathers."

Ahsoka's breathing stopped.

Yes, now she remembered clearly. Even though she had only been two the last time she saw these blades...she remembered her father wielding them when they still lived in Konoha.

"My...father." Her words were no louder than a breath. Memories of a wide warm smile, joyful laughter, messy dark brown hair, and shining honey colored eyes exactly like her own came at Ahsoka like a ton of bricks. 'Papa...'

"That's right," Hiruzen watched the girl from the sidelines with an easy smile, "It wasn't always his though. It's been passed down your family for many generations."

There was only one blade in the Aoyama clan that was passed down each generation of clan heads. Most members of the clan were buried with their swords. There was only one that broke that rule.

"Kusanagi..." Ahsoka breathed out. She walked slowly towards the podium, circling around until she was behind it. The gold and maroon hilt with a bright ruby contrasted beautifully with the shinning silver of the blade. The Aoyama Clan symbol stood proudly embedded into the hilt.

The Hokage hummed in response, "Your father left it in my possession before your family left. Hoping that one day it would belong to you." Ahsoka's hand reached to test the swords sharpness.

Hiruzen continued, "And today is that day." Ahsoka looked up.

"R-Really?"

The Sandaime nodded, "Yes, you are ready." Hiroshi watched on with a proud smile from a corner of the vault while Danzo remained expressionless, "Do you accept this sword as your own, Ahsoka Aoyama?"

Her father's sword...her family's sword. This is what she had been training for all these years with Hiroshi. It was all for her to be worthy of wielding this legendary sword. To be honest, Ahsoka was nervous, but she would finally have something to tie her to her family once more.

Ahsoka lifted her head and looked right at the Hokage, "Yes, yes I do."

"Then you must stain the blade with you own blood for it to acknowledge you as the rightful heir of the Aoyama clan. Ahsoka understood immediately. She slowly lifted her hands and wrapped them around the hilts of the twin swords. One by one, she cut each of her palms, letting her blood run down the silver blades.

Suddenly her blood was absorbed into the silver metal and the blades started glowing brighter and brighter. The light auburn haired girl took a step back.

"W-What's going on?" Ahsoka lifted the swords in front of her as the light started to get brighter. The three men's faces were stuck in awe, eyes wide. Danzo's awe struck look suddenly changed as a poisonous grin crawled up his's usually blank face. The silver glow accentuating his rough features and sharpening the shadows on his face as he ducked his head slightly.

Ahsoka yelped. The glow got so bright she had to close her eyes and turn away. She felt as if her hands were going to melt but at the same time she couldn't let go. Hiroshi put his arm up while the rest squinted as they tried to see what was happening. Just before the light got too intense to blind any of them, it subsided.

Ahsoka felt the hilt start to cold off, taking it as a sign that she could open her eyes again, she turned back to the swords she held in front of her. Only it wasn't two swords anymore, it was one long one. Hiroshi opened his eyes slowly and lowered his arm. His eyes suddenly widened as he caught sight of the new sword.

The hilt was white with a line of black upside down triangles running down its length finishing with a gold piece at the it's base. A circular piece decorated with what looked like gold petals connected the hilt to the swords long silver blade with a black embroidery of the Aoyama crest on the silver blade close to the hilt.

"A-Ahsoka." Hiroshi stuttered as he watched the young girl hold up the sword. Ahsoka's mouth was agape as she stared at the sword in her hand with wonder. It felt light in her grip, but not too light...it was just the perfect weight for her.

"It-It.." The young Aoyama stuttered.

"It changed, yes. Kusanagi, as it is passed on to the next wielder, changes to fit the clan head's fighting style and personality perfectly." Ahsoka studied the sword and gave it a spin, "It seems that this style suits you."

Ahsoka held the sword out in front of her once more, a wide grin appearing on her face. She could feel it, the chakra of past wielders, the power...'Kusanagi'

It's perfect," She turned to the old Hokage who had been watching the girl with soft eyes, "Thank you, Hokage-sama."

Hiruzen chuckled, "No need to thank me. It was yours to begin with." A loud cough from the back of the vault caught everyone's attention.

"As much as I enjoyed the show, I will take my leave now." Danzo spoke in his rough voice. His eyes landing on Ahsoka once more, "Thank you for letting me watch, Hiruzen. And you child...have potential." Somehow his words didn't encourage Ahsoka at all.

Danzo turned on his heel and marched out of the vault without saying another word, footsteps echoing as he walked away. Ahsoka watched his back with worried furrowed brows. her grip on Kusanagi tightening.

The sun shone high in the sky as Hiroshi and Ahsoka walked through the streets back to their apartment. A bag of scrolls containing Aoyama secrets given to her by the Hokage now hanged from Ahsoka's shoulder.

"I can't wait to show the team! They're going to be amazed!" Ahsoka said as she pulled out a slight part of Kusanagi out of sheath just enough to see the clan symbol sitting on the glistening silver blade. She suddenly gasped in excitement, "Kakashi is always bragging about how great his tanto is. Now I can brag about this!"

The light auburn haired girl closed her eyes and giggled happily as Hiroshi watched her with a caring smile. But his eyes...they looked tired.

The girl continued rambling on about her team. Her cheeks flushed in excitement while her eyes sparkled with almost childish delight. So different from the girl Hiroshi had taken in five years ago...She was so care free now, kind, beautiful, a ball of sass and sarcasm. And Hiroshi couldn't be more proud of her.

His eyes dropped to the ground for a second before letting out a sigh and coming to a stop. Ahsoka walked a couple more steps as she continued rambling before noticing Hiroshi wasn't next to her.

"Huh?" She whipped around to see the jonin standing a bit behind, "What's the matter, Hiroshi?"

The jonin stared at her for a second before breaking out into a wide grin, "Neh, it's nothing too important," He scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, "It's just that-I forgot to tell you something."

Ahsoka raised an eyebrow in confusion, cocking her head slightly to the side, "A-All right...What is it?"

Hiroshi's grin faltered for a second as he dropped his hand to his side, "It's-It's just that I'm gonna be gone for a bit," Ahsoka gave him another confused look, waiting for him to continue. This time Hiroshi couldn't hide his uneasiness, "I'm getting sent to the front lines on a special mission."

Ahsoka's eyes widened. The childish spark that played in them just moments ago was gone as reality came crashing down, "Y-You-You're coming back..right?" Ahsoka's eyes held the slightest bit of panic as her voice sped up, "You'll come back? Y-You have to come back! Y-"

"Ahsoka..." Large warm hands wrapped around Ahsoka's as a slight gasp escaped her throat, "I'll come back... I promise." Hazel eyes looked down at her with the care and love she hadn't seen since her parents. Something so unfamiliar yet not.

Ahsoka stayed silent with her mouth agape before she gave a rueful smile, "Yeah...Sorry for panicking." She gave a sheepish laugh.

Hiroshi chuckled before he put an arm over her shoulder, "Come on, let's go home. I'm starving."

"We ran out of Onogiri..."

"..."

"Damn it."

Time skip to a couple of weeks later

The full moon shone down on the training field as Obito threw a kunai with a frustrated cry, lodging it deep into the wood of the training post. The boy gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. 'Kakashi...'

Their last mission had been a disaster. They were supposed to be part of the back up team for the vanguard attacking the supply post but the enemy knew exactly where they were and attacked, completely wiping out the vanguard and part of the back up. Team Minato might have perished too if it hadn't been for Kakashi's and Minato-sensei's quick thinking.

Flashbacks of Kakashi running at the enemy, jumping as if he were about to engage when in reality he was just activating his earlier set trap that electrocuted the Kumogakure forces to a crisp. Obito watched from the sidelines as Minato-sensei put a hand on Kakashi's shoulder, Ahsoka thanked him, and Rin praised him to high heaven.

With another cry Obito released another kunai, lodging it even deeper into the wood than the one before. 'Nande, NANDE! Rin never praises me the way she does Kakashi...I never give her a reason to...'

Obito clenched his fist as tears threatened to spill from his eyes, "Nande..." He whispered, taking a step back.

"I figured you'd be here." Obito jumped and let out a high pitched scream at the sudden voice in the darkness as he scrambled to find the source. High in the tree branches surrounding the training ground sat a young light auburn haired girl who let out a giggle. Her legs were crossed over one another and her hands behind her supporting her weight.

Obito's head snapped to the tree branches as Ahsoka leaped from her post landing gracefully on the ground, "A-Ahsoka?!" Obito squawked, "What are you doing here?"

She walked towards him with her hands behind her back, "Hmm, let me think..." She put a finger to her chin, "I really like to be out at this time to watch the stars, I also like to train...and-," She dropped her finger and sent Obito an amused raised eyebrow, "-I know you dummy."

Obito fumbled for a second before crossing his arms over his chest and holding his head up high, "I-I I have no idea what you are talking about."

Ahsoka took a step forward, "Are you sure about that-," She flicked his goggles with a mischievous smirk, "-twerp?" Obito yelped and held on to his goggles.

Ahsoka brought her hand to her mouth as she giggled while Obito fixed his goggles with an embarrassed blush, "I'm not a twerp! And nothing is wrong with me so you can leave now."

Ahsoka's giggles died down as she looked at Obito with soft eyes, "I don't think that's true." Obito gulped and stared at her with wide eyes. The auburn haired girl suddenly flopped down on the grass, landing on her bum with a thud, "Come on, sit." She patted the patch of grass next to her and Obito reluctantly sat down.

Ahsoka leaned forward and tried to catch Obito's eye, "You know...you can tell me anything right? I'm your friend after all." She sent him a close eyed smile. The moonlight bathing her in a bluish hue.

Obito looked away from her and gave a frustrated sigh, "It's-It's just that-I can't do anything right, Ahsoka!" His hands clenched into fists on his lap, "I've tried so hard to prove myself. To prove that I can become Hokage...It's my dream! But all I've done is make a fool of myself."

Ahsoka listened with sad eyes. She couldn't understand Obito's struggles from experience, she never had to deal with these things, but she did understand somewhat and could still lend a hand, "And then there is Kakashi. That damned bastard! He is good at everything he does! He doesn't have a signal flaw about him-except maybe being an insufferable asshole-but that's besides the point!"

Obito gripped his pants hard, making his fist shake with effort before relaxing his hand slowly, his eyes staring sadly at the ground, "Ever since our Academy days, I've been in Kakashi's shadow."

Ahsoka's honey-colored eyes looked at the boy, her mouth slightly agape, before looking down at the blades of grass. The sounds of the night filled the silence as both stayed quiet. Ahsoka lifted her head up to look at the stars, "You're annoying."

"Eh?" Obito turned to her.

"You are always late. Unexpectedly, your excuses for that are usually true." Ahsoka closed her eyes, "You are no good at advanced ninjutsu. You are no match for me and are jealous of child prodigy Kakashi Hatake."

Obito blinked at her words, almost not processing what she was saying. Was this supposed to make him feel better?

Ahsoka turned to face him with a serious expression, "But, you are not in his shadow at all. You have your own set of strengths. You have dreams. You're you. The boy that helps the elderly. The boy that never leaves his friends. No matter what you do, no matter what you change, it doesn't mean a thing. You're just you, the boy that will become Hokage not matter what."

Obito's onyx eyes stared into Ahsoka's. A light blush now covered the girl's pale cheeks, barely visible by the moon. Ahsoka suddenly threw her arms up with a sigh and let her back hit the ground.

"We can't be perfect, ya know? We're not kami-sama after all." She giggled softly, "Just play your strengths. Give it everything you've got. Follow your dreams, even if it takes you longer to get it than most people," She turned to look at him, "I still mean what I said all those years ago. I think you would make a great Hokage."

Obito stared in awe down at the girl with wide eyes, "You really have a way with words sometimes..." A tick mark appeared on Ahsoka's forehead before she threw a kick at Obito from the ground.

"What?! What do you mean sometimes! I am great with words all the time! I'm trying to encourage you over here!!" Obito yelped and rubbed his injured side as Ahsoka cursed him out to his left.

Obito sighed before laying down next to his teammate with a heavy thud, 'My own strengths...' He thought with his arms behind his head.

"Ahsoka..."

"Yeah?"

"...What is your dream?" She stayed silent for a long time before speaking.

"I don't know..." She answered simply.

"Come on! You must have something you dream of doing!" Obito demanded, to which Ahsoka only shook her head.

"Haven't given it much thought." Silence filled the air once more as Obito gave the girl a curios look.

"Neh, look up there!" Ahsoka's hand suddenly shot up to point at sky.

"Eh?"

"The stars, they are so pretty..." Obito looked up and noticed the green and blue hues decorating the sky.

A wide grin grew on his face, "You're right. They are really pretty." It wasn't often they got to notice little things like this with the war going on. But they had their moments, "I wish Rin were here to see it."

Ahsoka's eyes glanced at the boy. His eyes were bright with a naive light as he gazed up at the stars. The wide grin on his face only adding to the innocent look that made her heart flutter.

'My dream...You asked me that and I didn't have an answer. But I do wish for something...to see you succeed. To see Rin succeeed. For all of us to move forward. That's my dream.' Her hair moved softly in front of her face as she watched the boy calmly.

'...And I've told myself that that dream is enough...Yet here you are, making me wish you would look at me in another light while you talk of loving my best friend. Such a cruel boy you are, Obito Uchiha.'

Ahsoka turned her gaze back up to the sky, "Hai, she would love to see this." But her words didn't have much enthusiasm. A long silence followed afterwards.

"D-Do you think...we could stay here a bit longer?" Obito turned his head to look at his friend. Ahsoka's eyes widened at the odd request but quickly soften. A warm, soft smile making it's way to her lips.

"Hai. We can stay."

Ahsoka didn't know why, or how, but she suddenly found herself humming a sweet melody. Her voice filling the silence that surrounded the two as they both enjoyed the peaceful moment.

A/N: This is legit one of my favorite chapters. I felt like I needed to grow or at least show a little bit more of their relationship before I could really move on to the next steps...I do have one more thing planned before any big changes come to pass. (I'm making it sound like something big when it rlly isn't pfft)

Ahsoka finally has Kusanagi, which I'd been waiting for the right time to give to her. It changed because the blade changes to the wielders liking and has done that for every single user when it comes in contact with blood from the heir to the Aoyama Clan Head family. Why was Danzo so interested in her and Kusanagi? Welp that's an answer for another chapter
