Shattered To Choose
Azun:
Nothing like summer on Malison.
All the ladies are looking quite pretty in their summer dresses and skirts.
I am in my office. Doing my duties as a Zodiac.
"No Luke." I hang up the phone.
I will never accept that offer unless I have no other option. That's the thing with free agency, there are always other options.
I remember teaching Nathaniel when to say no to things. He was fourteen when I lost him, so I didn't get to teach him more mature things. It's the little things that count, like holding a door for a girl or standing up when they enter a room. Nathaniel was a gentleman, he still is, that is if he is still alive.
"Excuse me sir." I hear a voice like velvet.
I turned my head. A young girl around fifteen stood in the office doorway. I wasn't surprised by visitors at this hour. Girls do tend to come here at night if they don't feel comfortable walking home alone or somebody is following them. But it was her face that stood out to me, she wore a dress that didn't cover a lot of skin but her face was that on an android or robot. She wasn't a very good actor, that's for certain.
"I don't know where to go." She said, rehearsing her lines. "So I came here all alone."
"Goodbye." I walk her to the door, pushing her out into the streets, throwing a couple dollars after her so she can call a cab.
I know a girl like that when I see one. Next thing you know her boyfriend or father will be at my throats asking for my money. Typical, it bugs me that that's what people do now.
I said no to her like a man. A man doesn't have to give in to a women's command, I can control myself around the other gender. I know what is right and what is wrong. I will follow my principals and standards.
A situation like this is something I never taught my little brother about. Nathaniel was just too young and innocent to know these things.
But who will teach him if I didn't?
