Shattered Assasination
Azun:
I am Death. I click the elevator button to the top floor. I won't wait another year for what I should of done over a decade ago. The elevator opens and I step out and walk down the hallway, my feet echo across the walls with each step I take, I can feel every breath I take.
I close my eyes, focusing on the negative space, and I can see him. My mind is focused on every promise he has broken to me, he will talk to me later, he will be at my birthday, he will help me with my animal report back in third grade. The list is endless.
The hallway smells of gold and polished silver, every day servants come to clean his work space, he can't afford to listen to his own son.
Every game he plays, sacrificing pawn after pawn, each night he lets more escape, through out all the death, I have been watching him.
He doesn't belong in the empty space that belongs to my father, my heart beats faster every step I take; with every move I make, my vow as a Zodiac I am breaking as I open his doors. His smile is fake, I can't see it, but I know it is there, plastered like a manakin.
"Azun." My father doesn't look surprise. "Are you here about my email to you, I really think you are the chosen one for this position. General may not have suited you quite like I thought but-"
"Stop." My voice is rough.
He kept calling me the chosen one. He had no idea that I had died three days before, not a clue to even care. I will not be the chosen one that he intended to create, I would save everyone on this planet, it's such a shame that I had already sided with the darkness.
"Azun?" My father walked over to me. "Are you looking for a higher position?"
"Let is experiment with unhappy endings." I state. "The murder gets away and the villain takes over."
"Is that suppose to scare me?" My father laughed, drawing a sword from the many decorative weapons on his wall.
I drew my double sided Scythe from my back. "Don't fight me." I glared. "You know you can't win."
"You are weak." My father walked around me.
"I'm stronger." I walked around him, we created a circle.
"You are quite smart Azun." My father nodded.
"You underestimate me." I lung at him, our weapons collided in the air.
I am watching him, blocking and countering his every move. He swipes over my head, I stop his blade with one of my hooks and kick his knees. He lunged at my chest I pull a spare dagger from my hip and slice his wrist. My father screams, stepping back.
"Go to Hades." He curses, holding back the blood on his wrist.
"Been there." I spat. "The devil didn't like me and spat me back out."
My father screamed and ran at me with his blade. I darted at him, our weapons sparked off each other as we twisted and turned using every bit of the room to our advantage. The rules of war did not apply in this situation. I was playing dirty, I will not give him a turn to strike me like a wooden doll. He lets his guard down too many times, I strike his triceps, right lung, thigh and stomach. He is barely hanging on as he falls onto the ground from the lose of blood.
I leave him there for a moment as I walk over to his desk. On it sits a crystal ball circling with tiny specks of light like a snow globe. I grab the ball and walk over to my father.
"This is for my brother." I snare at him as I throw the glass against the wall, it shattered into a million pieces and the lights float up till they disappear one by one.
"Do you have any idea what you just did?" My father coughs. "You know the people that exist on that planet!"
"They aren't any different from you." I throw my weapon onto my back and pull out my dueling pistol from my pocket.
"Azun have mercy!"
"I am not Azun. I am Death." I hold the pistol to his head. "And Death shows no mercy."
I pull the trigger and he falls to the ground. Lifeless and stuff. I feel no emotions. That is how my story came to a close, my journey complete, my only job finished. I then realized that I had been the villain all along, not the hero I dreamed I would be.
The news don't know what happened in that room. Luke and Mike were never able to put together the pieces. Ames, Larkin and Dustan never put together the pieces and nobody ever knew I existed.
That's how the murderer got away.
