Chapter 7: The Angel
Annabel's POV
Just before I went to bed, I looked out the window. There, in the garden, was Sebastian and Raven. I couldn't really see what they were doing, so I decided to go to the garden. When I was almost the garden, I heard Raven's voice. "I knew it! So you are a demon!! Do you have a contract with Ciel?!" I froze. Then I heard Sebastian say,"Indeed, I do. Why is this any of your concern, Raven?" I could tell that Raven was thinking hard.
Raven's POV
I thought hard about Sebastian's question. 'Why was I concerned about this? Should I tell him that I'm a demon hunter? Do I even want to kill Sebastian?' Sebastian looked concerned. "Is something wrong?" I shook my head vigorously. "Just thinking about your question." Sebastian smirked. "If you did care, you would have already told me why." He had a good point. I decided to be honest with Sebastian. "I really don't know why I am concerned about this." He gave a sigh, then guided me out of the garden. "You should probably get some rest, Raven." I stopped walking, shocked. "Raven, what's..." Sebastian began, then stopped. Outside of the garden, there was Annabel, frozen with shock. "Annabel!! What are you doing out here?!" I hissed. She recovered from her shock. "I could ask you the same thing." I looked at Sebastian and he looked at me. "We were talking about something." I said hastily. "Uh huh...." Annabel gave me a look. "Look, if you two lovebirds don't want to tell me that you two like each other, then don't even bother!" She smirked. 'Why that little..!!' I looked over at Sebastian and he was actually...BLUSHING!!!! My face began to feel warm too. Annabel went back inside the manor, laughing her head off. I stormed off to the manor, leaving Sebastian alone in the garden. When I reached the guest room, the door was opened and I saw Annabel in there, sleeping.
*Annabel's Dream Sequence*
I was in a beautiful meadow that had colorful flowers scattered everywhere. Then I saw, in the center of the meadow, a very tall tree. It had a silver trunk and branches, but the leaves were pure gold. I went toward the tree and stopped, shocked. There, sitting on the lowest branch, smiling, was Arabella. She gave me a small wave and jumped onto the ground. "Annabel!!" She exclaimed,"It's so good to see you!" I didn't know what to do or say. She hugged me, but I didn't hug her back. Arabella, concerned, said,"Well? Aren't you happy to see me, Annabel dear?" My eyes were filled with tears. She looked even more upset and asked,"Are you alright? Annabel?"
Arabella's POV (Dream Sequence)
Annabel looked at me with a watery smile. "I didn't miss you," Annabel said. My heart felt like it shattered into a million pieces. "I..I.." I stuttered. Annabel whispered,"Where have you been for the past few years? Where were you when I needed you most?" I lowered my head in shame. She started to walk away, but I grabbed her wrist. "Annabel, listen to me!" I began. "Why should I? I feel like I don't even know you anymore, Arabella." Annabel said quietly. "Please, Annabel, just let me explain." I pleaded. She sighed, and said,"Alright..." I took a deep breath and began.
"Annabel, after your parents and everyone in your manor was killed, you were being chased by an angel. She tried to kill you, but you summoned me before you blacked out. I took you far away from your manor, somewhere where she couldn't find you. You were unconscious for three days. I left when you woke up but I kept watching over you all these years. I didn't need to help you because I knew you could handle it. You've grown into a strong and beautiful woman, Annabel. You don't need me anymore." I smiled. Annabel twisted out of my grip and glared at me. Then, all of a sudden, she hugged me tightly. More tears streamed down her face. "Arabella, of course I still need you!!! You are like a second mother to me, just like Lucy!!" She looked up at me. "Will I ever get to meet you in person?" I stroked her hair gently. "I don't know. After all, you are an angel hunter, so you have to kill me." Annabel looked shocked. "Even though I'm an angel hunter, I would never kill you, no matter what." "That's great to hear," I said with a smile.
Annabel's POV (Dream Sequence)
I let go of Arabella and saw that she was beginning to disappear in a shower of white feathers. "Wait!! Will I ever see you in real life or not?!" I exclaimed, reaching out my hand. She grabbed my hand and held it with both hands. "Soon, my Annabel, soon." She disappeared with a smile on her face.
