Chapter 2: The Hunter

Several years later....

Raven's POV

While walking around in the forest, I heard something coming towards my direction. I quickly hid behind a bush and saw an angel flying as fast as it could away from...a girl?! She looks like my age; she has long black hair with hints of red and light green eyes with flecks of gold. The girl also wore a short, black, and deep blue dress with black thigh-high boots. Why the hell was she chasing an angel unarmed?! That was dangerous! I sighed, not even surprised at this girl's stupidity. 'Maybe I should help her.' I thought to myself, inwardly rolling my eyes. Sighing, I got up, sword in hand.

Annabel's POV

While walking around town, I saw a suspicious figure in an alley. They had a knife pressed against a man's throat. "Where is it?!" They screamed. "I don't know!! I don't even know what you're talking about!!!" The man yelled, his face flushed with signs of drunkness. The figure pressed their knife more into the man's throat. A drop of blood trickled down the man's neck. "Let me ask one more time," they said calmly, "Where. Is. The. Weapon!!!" "What the bloody hell are you talking about you madman?!" The man slurred, failing to get out of his captor's grasp. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I strolled towards them, hands on my hips. "Hey!! Why are you doing this?! Let go of him!" I shouted, glaring at the man's captor. Then I realized that the figure that was holding the man was..an angel. The angel turned, menacingly staring at me. "Why are you here? Just keep walking, little girl." He said smugly, still holding the handle of his knife. I said in a quiet voice, "I'm sorry, but what did you just call me?" "A little girl," the angel grinned, clearly enjoying my anger. "So what?" I took a step forward, making the angel flinch a little. "Angel," I said sweetly, "I'm not just a little girl...I'm also an angel hunter." The angel's eyes squinted a little, looking at me. "Just out of curiosity...do you happen to be Annabel, the youngest angel hunter in existence?" I smiled, glad that the angel knew who I was. "Yes, I happen to be. You better start backing up." Unintentionally, the angel released the drunk man. The man scrambled to his feet, winked at me, and stumbled away from the alley. "If you want to kill me," the angel said while spreading his wings, "then catch me if you can!" He began to fly away from the alley. "Hey get back here!!" I shouted, running after that irritating angel. Soon, he went into the forest. 'Damn,' I thought, 'When I catch this angel I'm going to kill him with my bare hands!!'

Soon, I caught up to the angel. I thought I saw a flash of blonde from behind a bush at some point but it didn't matter. I picked up a sharp rock from the ground, throwing it directly between the angel's wings. He shrieked in pain, falling a little. This time, I threw a bigger rock at the bottom of his back. The angel fell while screaming, first landing on the top of a tree, then falling to the ground. I then jumped on top of him, pinning him to the ground. The angel screamed at me to let go of him, but I struggled to hold him down. "Need some help?" A girl's voice said. I looked up and saw one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen. Her eyes were a sharp icy blue, which matched her beautiful waist-length blonde hair. The girl also wore a short black and white dress that was just above her knees. She wore black boots with white bows that were not quite as high as my boots. In her hand was a sword that I have never seen before. The sword was pure black, with an eerie aura surrounding it. On the sword, there was writing that I did not understand. She briskly said to me, "My name is Raven. What's yours?" I replied, "Annabel." "Ok, Annabel...WHY THE HELL was YOU HUNTING DOWN AN ANGEL WITHOUT A PROPER WEAPON!?!?" Raven yelled, losing her cold demeanor. I show her my small knife. "I've been using this to kill the angels."

Raven's POV

I scoffed at Annabel, thinking to myself, 'Goodness, this girl doesn't know much about the angel killing business does she?' I sigh. "How on earth did you manage to kill angels with that knife?" She grinned. "It's a very slow and painful death for all the angels that I've killed."
