Chapter 9
"A date,"
"What?"
"A. Date," Chris mouthed to Steven. He took a slow sip from his strawberry smoothie while Steven chewed some of his donut.
"We don't have time for that. The world could end!" Steven exclaimed trying to find excuses. Chris rolled his eyes.
"If our plan doesn't work then the world will be destroyed anyways. Might as well enjoy it while you can," He responded so calmly. Steven looked down at the table. A date... A date. He covered his face at the thought of a date with Connie. Her beautiful hair blowing in the wind as she leaned closer a-
"Augh! Why am I thinking about considering this!" He screamed at himself. Chris chuckled. He set his smoothie down and looked Steven right in the eyes.
"You have no choice,"
"Why not?"
"I have invited Claire and Connie for a double date," Chris said. Steven turned red, dying for something else to talk about.
"Y-you're dating C-Claire?" Steven stuttered finding a new topic. Chris laughed awkwardly. "Leafa's going to be so mad," Steven joked. Chris stopped laughing and stared at the table. Steven noticed his mistake and instantly regretted it. "I'm so sorry! I forgot for a second!"
"It's ok Steven. I know you didn't mean it. It just hurts. It hurts so much," Chris whispered. It sounded like he didn't care if Steven heard or not. "Now about the date," Chris brought up again with a smile replaced from his other grim look. He ran his fingers through his blue hair and smiled lost in thought.
"Chris I can't,"
"Oh yes you can," Chris said. "Now let's go get you some more casual clothes. We're going to the movies so you need to look at least better than that," He said relating 'that' to his star shirt and jeans.
------------
Steven and Chris stepped out of the store looking better. Chris was wearing leather jacket opened, a gray shirt underneath, and blue jeans. Steven had on a pink buttoned shirt with a red undershirt. He bought some black jeans as well to wear with it. It was better than the normal clothes they wore all the time.
"I'm actually pretty excited," Steven smiled fiddling with the collar of his shirt. Chris playfully punched him in the shoulder and readjusted his glasses. "I think I see them!" Steven interrupted.
He was right. In the distance Connie wore her 'fake' glasses. She had on a beautiful blue dress with straps. To cover her shoulder she had a white jacket that was open to show a dark blue heart on her dress. She had on blue flats and a white headband on. Claire wore a red dress. She had on a black opened jacket. A belt was sown where her waist was and dark red striped filled her dress. She had on red flats and a black headband. The dress blended in her hair at the same time highlighted the fact that it wasn't in a braid. It was flowing down her back in a wavy pattern. They must've went shopping together.
Steven went red and smiled at the girls. Chris bowed at them which Connie laughed at.
"Such a gentleman," she joked. Claire rolled her eyes in a jokingly matter. "So where are we going again?" She asked looking at Steven. Steven met eye contact to which she responded by looking away.
"The movies!" Chris responded. Steven summoned his shield and made it huge. The girls and him got on. Chris summoned his spear and gave out a huge huff. "Get ready," He ordered. Sweat trickled down his forehead as he hit the shield towards the movies. It spiraled forward causing them to scream. People came out to watch, but they went back in seeing that it was only Steven.
Chris dashed forward to try to get on the shield. Steven noticed that he wasn't going to make it because it was getting faster and faster. He reached his hand out. Not good enough. He told Connie to grab his feet. She did. It still wasn't good enough. Claire was already on it as she jumped off and grabbed Chris.
He was shocked as she forced him to stop running. She kissed his cheek and he blushed. Passed out was a better word. Now that he was passed out. She threw his body onto the shield. He landed safely. She summoned Steven's shield and hopped on. Then she summoned Chris's scythe and knocked herself full speed towards the group. She hopped on and destroyed the other weapons.
"That was pretty cool!" Connie gawked. Steven couldn't even speak. "How did you get Chris's weapon and Steven's? Why did you make Chris sleep?" Connie fumbled for words.
"My weapon is copying others. If I see them or have come into experience with one. Even though Steven's seemed really powerful. It almost hurt touching it. It almost backfired and I would've been burned to death or something."
"That's not scary,"
"I can smell the sarcasm from over here. Also my plan for Chris was simple. I didn't want him seeing me use his weapon. He got mad last time. Also Chris gets really light all of sudden whenever he sleeps. Like he loses a chunk of his weight and gets really light. Also he wouldn't have like being flung onto the shield," Claire explained. Steven laughed and Connie stared at Claire.
"I didn't. Also we're about to crash," Chris said waking up from his fake sleeping act. Steven didn't get to even say anything before he was flung off of the shield. Everyone else was as well. They all fell onto the grass outside of the movie theater. The shield deformed and went into Steven's gem. They all got up, dusted themselves off, and went into the movie theater to watch dogcopter 4.
-------------
Steven held Connie's hand trying to guide her through the crowd. She squeezed at it and it warned his hand up. Her arm ran on his arm occasionally making him feel weird. They somehow made it out. A relieved smile fell upon their faces.
"Finally!" She sighed. Steven nodded and hugged her. Connie was surprised. Just as she moved her arms to hug him back they went flying into the air. Steven landed on the roof and flew even higher. The couple were in the clouds now. They could still see people as they waited for Claire and Chris.
"Isn't this cool?" Steven exclaimed. Connie nodded staring at the stars surrounding them.
"This really is your universe..."
"What?"
"How are you doing this?" She asked. Her right hand slid down his left arm as she hung to him by only her left hand.
"It's a new power!" He stated proudly. Connie slowly giggled as she looked at the ground. "I see them!" Steven said. They were weird though. They were close together, Claire looking up at Chris. In a quick moment their faces were closed in. Steven couldn't see it that good, but Connie saw it all.
"They're kissing," She said. Steven turned pink at the thought he had earlier. Connie kissing him with the wind blowing through the air. Steven shook off the thought.
"That's weird," He said trying to act cool. Connie held back another laugh.
"Yeah," She mumbled. There was silence for a while and Steven was getting ready to think negative so that they could descend. "Let's try it," Connie finally said. Steven didn't understand what she was talking about.
"Try what?" He asked tracing back his attention to her.
"Kissing," She said. Steven almost let her go. The sky was getting darker hiding his embarrassment.
"You don't mean that," he joked. This couldn't be happening. It had to be a dream. A dream from the beginning.
"Why wouldn't I?" She stared at him. Her ears were turning darker at the tips as if she was starting to notice and blush at what she wanted.
"I-,"
"Steven!" She yelled at him. He shut his mouth for her. "Why are you putting yourself down? When we met you were so bubbly. What happened to your personality?"
"Things that have been happening recently..."
"Well stop it. Steven Quartz Universe, I Connie Tom Maheswaren, want to kiss you." She stated. "I like you. I mean like you in a way I don't feel for many people!" Steven felt tears run down his face. "Will you let me be apart of your universe?"
Steven placed his lips onto hers. Connie was startled at the sudden movement. This feeling. It felt like when they fused. It felt peaceful and like they were melting into one person. His gem wasn't glowing though. She closed her eyes and kissed back. They stopped soon after. Steven wasn't looking at her.
"I've never had anyone say that to me before... Thank you Connie," Steven smiled. Connie gave him a warm grin.
"Now how do we get down?"
"I don't think we'll be getting down anytime soon with the way I'm feeling. Sorry!"

I cried. I love this ship, yet I feel like I made it to gushy. It made me cringe. Originally it was going to be a date between Sapphira and Onyx, but something stopped me. I don't show the close relationship between Connie and Steven that much. I barely did in this chapter. I didn't really focus on anyone this chapter. Next chapter can be a little more Sapphira and Onyx hangout time. Comment on what they should do because I kind of don't want to do two dates in a row. So like comment what you think they should do. I'm leaving next chapter to you guys (has to be Sapphira and Onyx though) BYE!!!
(Drawn in 30 minutes)
(Omg I forgot to add Chris's glasses)
(Edit: I actually wrote this chapter weeks ago and drew the picture the day after. I just forgot to post it. 😅)
