It was 8th period. Which means it was study hall for me and Jesse was supposed to meet me down here. My study hall consists of mostly techno nerds who don't have a chance of getting a girlfriend anytime soon. They like to make fun of other kids in my grade to make their boring lame lives seem somewhat exciting. Or worth living for.

"Hey you." Jesse peered out of the door way coming over to me.

"Hey stranger." I said.

"What's up?" He took a seat next to me. He scooted closer to me.

"Nothing. I don't have anything to do sooo...." I said. "So what did you want to tell me?"

"Oh! Yeah. I wanted to get to know you more." Jesse said looking at me with those beautiful hazel eyes.

"Well let's see; I'm 14 and-"

"Three quarters. You're in ninth grade and you're in counseling because your sisters made you for a personal reason." Jesse said. "Which by the way, I won't poke my nose in."

"Basically." I said. "You know pretty much the basics about me."

"No I wanted to get to know you more. Like why do I feel like you're not interested in me?"

"What do you mean?"

"Like when ever I try to talk to you, you don't seem interested to be my friend or possibly more? May I ask why?" Jesse asked.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to give you that intention." I said frantically. "I just get really shy around boys and I don't know why. I can't control it. I'm sorry."

Oh no. It's happening again. I'm getting an anxiety attack. My throat feels like it's closing. I feel like I dry swallowed a pill. I feel tears prickling in the corners of my eyes.

Oh god this is embarrassing.

"Hey, it's okay. I get it." He said, putting his hand on top of mine. I got butterflies. My god his hands were so soft.

"So," I began. "What did you wanna ask me?"

"Oh-um I was wondering if you-uh wanted to maybe hang out-er-something? Maybe tomorrow?" He asked.

"What?" I said.

"I said do you wanna hang out tomorrow?"

I want to squeal so loud it you couldn't tell if it was me or a dog whistle.

He wants to hang out with me!! Oh my god this is the best day of my life!!

Remember how I said that I felt like today was the best day ever until I ran into Amanda and her posy? This would be he reason why it was the best day ever!

"Yeah I would love to! Where do you want to meet?"

"How about my house?" Jesse asked, flipping his hair over his shoulder.

"Sure! I'll ask my sister later tonight!" I said smiling ear to ear.

"Cool!"

"Why not?!" I whined. "I'll be fine!"

"Because Jesse is a boy! And I know how teenage boys think at this age! He's gonna try and pull a move on you and then terrible things will happen to you!" Beth yelled, putting our spaghetti dinner on the plates.

"Beth, Jesse is not like that I swear!"

"You've known him for a week!" Beth pointed out.

"It's been almost a month!" I said.

"Has it been that long?" She muttered.

"Beth, I promise I'll be fine. It's not like I'm gonna sleep with him!"

Beth made a disgusted face.

Shut up, Jean.

"Okay not the best example but at least you know that's one thing I won't do." I said.

"Jean, I don't think it's a good idea."

"Ramona can you please help me??" I turned to Ramona who was sipping on an Arizona Tea.

"Well, she sounds pretty convincing, Beth. I think you should let her go. Plus she could always use more friends."

Ramona is such a good sister.

"I don't know."

"Come on, " Ramona pleaded. "Remember before her accident how she used to say you never treat her like an adult? Well how can you when you're not even giving her a chance." Ramona argued.

"Okay can someone explain what accident I went through please??" I asked.

"Never mind." Beth waved off and turned to face me. "You promise everything will be fine?"

"Yes, I swear on my life!" I said defensively.

"Jean I'm not kidding!"

"I know! I promise! I swear!" I said.

Beth looked up at the ceiling for a few moments before saying: "Alright you can go."

"Yes!" I cheered.

"But I want you to call me if anything happens, okay?" Beth directed.

"I will. Don't worry." I said.

"Now, come eat your dinner." Beth said handing me my plate of spaghetti.

I can't wait to tell Jesse the good news tomorrow!
