Do you trust me?
Anastasia
It has been a week since helping Darla and Kingston has not put his end of the deal in effect yet. Which makes me even more nervous. I have caught him smirking at me throughout the shifts and he still comes over for lunch every day like clockwork. I am taking the evening off but I will still be in the bar. It is not like I have a life and my sister tries her hardest to make me have one.
"Stas, come on no work tonight remember." The frown on her face said it all. "Lucy, come on now. I won't work only hang out." She nodded and went back to finish setting up. Then I smelled his scent approaching. He was wearing a tight black t-shirt and blue jeans. I would be lying if I said did not find him sexy. Darla walked in behind him, and she had a smile plastered on her face. I knew that we did indeed help her and I am glad things are looking better for her.
The bar was doing well tonight. I have noticed a few new faces as well. It is always good to see new faces means the bar is becoming a hit. My wolf was feeling uneasy, 'Ember, what is going on with you tonight?' 'Something is not right but I cannot place it.' 'Let me know if you do.' "Hey, Stas," Lucy yelled from behind the bar. "Yeah, Luce." "I am getting a serious migraine from my wolf can you take over a couple of hours so I can lay down?" I nodded, "Of course." I could tell she was not feeling well. So, I hopped behind the bar, and she went upstairs.
There was this older couple at the end of the bar that would not stop staring at me and it was making feel uneasy but I did not have time to deal with them. "FIRE, OUT NOW!" I turned and saw red flames near the bathrooms. I started ushering people out as did Kingston. "Anastasia, what is going on?" "Layla, Calvin, get everyone outside now." I did not have time to explain, and they did as I demanded.
People were screaming and scared as was I. I tried to push through the crowd back in but it was difficult. "Anastasia, No, what are you doing?" I tried to shake him off. "It is too dangerous." I shoved Kingston as hard as I could. "My sister is up there. Help everyone else, I promise I will be back." I could tell he was afraid by the look in his eyes as I turned and ran back in.
I ran as fast as I could through the building. The flames were growing in size and the smoke was making it hard to breathe and hard to see. I took the jacket off me and covered my nose and mouth to help from the smoke. I ran upstairs as I heard Lucy scream, "HELP! SOMEBODY, PLEASE HELP ME!" I kicked in her door hoping she was in her room. "Stas, help me." she was crying and I noticed a piece of the roof had fallen trapping her legs.
I ran to her giving her my jacket. "Lucy, cover your mouth with this. Try to breathe calmly. I removed the debris that I could off of her lower half as I heard her hiss in pain. 'Ember please, we can do this.' 'Let me take over for a brief moment.' I did just that and a surge of her strength flowed through my body and the fallen pillar slowly began lifting up. "Lucy, I need you to wiggle out as soon as you can. We can do this." She knew it was my wolf speaking to her. She nodded and we kept lifting the pillar. "I am free Ember, Stas, I am out." I noticed her leg was broken and cut up. She was bleeding badly.
I took back over my body and knew I had to get us out of there. I picked up Lucy to where she was standing using me for her body weight. "Lucy, do you trust me?" she looked at me petrified. "Always big sister." "Through hell and high water, I got you." She smiled at our old saying and I grabbed her big comforter off the broken bed. I threw it over her and picked her up, her arms around my neck, hugging me tightly. "No matter what happens Lucy, I love you and you are the best sister in the world." I did not give her time to say anything back as I launched our bodies out of her bedroom window.
Silently as we fell, I prayed to the goddess that we both would survive. I turned our bodies as best as I could so I would take the majority of the fall. The impact caused a few bones to crack and the air to leave my lungs. I gasped as I heard feet thumping against the ground. I slowly regained my breath as I heard Kingston yelling my name but I ignored him. I crawled over to where my sister rolled out of my arms. "Lucy?" my breath was ragged but I need to check on her. I fought all instincts that told me to lay back down and relax. I grabbed her face, "Lucy, please answer me." I heard a deep growl as a man approached. I did not know this man; I had never seen him before. "MINE!" he growled out. I noticed he was looking at my little sister. Her second chance mate.
She began coughing, which caused me to sigh in relief that she was alive. "My guards are on their way, they will help transport her and any wounded back to our pack hospital." I heard Kingston say and I just laid back trying to catch my breath. "Where are Layla and Calvin?" "They just went to their house to get some supplies to help the wounded." I slowly got to my feet. "Check on everyone and I am going to help them get supplies." He hugged me as I stood in relief that I was okay and the sparks looming I welcomed. I then headed to their house behind my bar which was burning to the ground. When I came closer my eyes were playing tricks on me. Until I was right there. "LAYLA!"
