ONE
A young girl with black short hair, reaching down below her shoulders walked through the academy walls. She wore the U.A High Academy uniform and carried a blue handbag over her shoulder.
As her hair bounced back to back, she stole a glance at the man walking beside her. Aizawa Shota who had taken her under his wing when she needed the most. He had already been declared a godparent to the child, in case something happened to her birth parents.
That something did happen when she was only a nine-year-old kid, and the event had left her traumatized. She had a perfect memory of it too. She and her mother had been in the midst of a battle with a vicious villain. She remembered feeling as if the world was going to end.
"I love you so much Asuka." Her limping mother had tried to carry her to a safer place when she happened upon an old friend of hers, All Might.
"Please take her. I will take care of this." Those were the last words she heard her mother say.
All Might hesitated, but her mother mouthed something to him that made him fly away, taking little Asuka in his arms along with him. The nine-year-old kid screamed for her mother, with swollen eyes as she was taken away and watched the scene go up in flames. She was there only to witness something she shouldn't have seen.
"Mom!"
After the incident, she didn't speak much, not even to her friends. It was months before Shota decided to take her in, making her at least mumble a few words. People never treated her with any kind of special treatment, especially Shota, just because she was an orphan. They had treated her with care and support, but she was still punished when punishment was needed.
Despite the traumatizing event in her life, she kept moving on, walking on the correct path with the help of those she started considers her family. They raised her with the love and the patience parents usually did.
The incident did change the way she views the world, for a couple of months there. When she found signs that she may be going down a wrong path, Shota and others prevented her from going down a dark road.
"Asuka," Shota called her out of the trance she was in, noticing the child had walked past him. Asuka scratched the back of her neck nervously before Shota glared at her and entered the classroom.
"Shota." She squinted her eyes at him as she patted her skirt and took a breath in and then out.
"You will be receiving a new transfer student this year. Take Asuka." She watched as Shota walked behind the teacher's podium.
Hearing those words, Asuka immediately walked in and stopped at the front of the classroom to take a quick look at the students.
She then noticed two familiar faces, Bakugou Katsuki, and Izuku Midoriya.
Giving a quick smile, she bowed down and stood up straight afterward. "I am Takemi Asuka. Feel free to use my first name. Please take care of me."
"She is so cute."
"I wonder what kind of quirk she has."
Whispers could be heard all throughout the classroom. She noticed that Bakugou was the only one giving her a dirty look, but she decided to ignore it.
"You can take any available chairs, Asuka. Anyways, good job everyone and hope you're well rested from yesterday's battle. I took the liberty of looking at your marks and evaluation." Asuka listened as she sat down behind Izuku.
He quickly whispered. "Hi, Asu-chan. "
Both kids hoped they wouldn't get caught by Shota, who was giving a compliment to Bakugou, along with a complaint. Being a talented student, but also needing to improve his behavior.
Asuka shook her head and thought. 'Still the same as always.'
Shota's next victim was Izuku Midoriya, who bravely sat in his chair, hearing Shota's comment on his performance. The comment included the fact that Izuku broke his arm again. Shota glared at the boy, advising him to get control over his quirk.
Asuka immediately noticed Izuku's behavior changing completely from embarrassment to inspire with Shota's lasts words. She felt something familiar coming from him that he didn't have a few years back. A different aura to the boy.
'Is it his quirk? But he still hasn't gained control over it. It must still be new to him. That's strange' She thought to herself while spacing off.
She barely heard when Shota started blabbering about the class president. She didn't feel like hearing about it since she had just gotten there and barely knew anyone. Except for Midoriya and Katsuki.
The day before,
"Here are your replacements for the old ones. They are more useful for maintaining your quirk to a level your body can use. Don't over do it, breaking them like the old ones." Shota suddenly pushed a box towards her.
Asuka blinked a couple of times before leaning over to see brand new silver bracelets and flat ankles with a little design around them. She lifted one up, before thinking about how light those compared to the last ones.
"Thank you!"
"Let me sleep!"
She smiled to herself before putting them on, clicking it up on one of her wrists and hearing them close shut. She took the two ankle bracelets and bent down to lift her pajama's pants up, putting it around her ankle as heard the usual clicking sound they make. Asuka double-checked to see if they aren't loose.
"These are a lot better than my old ones. Thank you, Shota." She whispered to herself.

It was lunchtime at "Lunch Rush Eatery." Asuka has gotten her food, and sigh in disbelief, not knowing who to lunch with. That was one of the reasons why she doesn't like being the new kid.
She was walking around the cafeteria and about to give up on looking for a seat until she heard someone calling her out with her nickname. "Asu-chan!"
Turning around, she saw it was Midoriya who called her and he sat with two other students she didn't really know. She recognized them from the own class but aside from that, nothing. Asuka gulped and walked towards them.
"You can sit with us if you like to. Asu-chan." Midoriya offered, making her nod her head at him.
"Thank you. Midoriya." Asuka took the empty seat next to the black haired boy wearing rectangular half-rim glasses. "What are your names? You guys already know mine"
"Iida Tenya." The other boy replied.
"Ochaco Uraraka." The girl answered next.
"Pleasure meeting you," Asuka said, feeling way too formal.
"Oh no. The pleasure is mine." Iida responded, before adding. "Aren't you the daughter of the well known female superhero... Hm... Dark Warrior?"
Iida's comment made Midoriya choke while eating his food. He hesitated to look at Asuka who had to stop eating her own piece of meat. He knew it was a sensitive topic to her. In middle school, she would never want to talk about what happened to her family to that day. Midoriya himself only he found out about it by watching the TV news along with seeing it in newspapers.
"Yeah. I am." Asuka gave a forced smile before staring into her food and continuing eating her it.
Deep inside, her heart tightened and she tried to shake the feeling away. Midoriya changed the subject immediately after her answer and they were talking, as Asuka was finished eating her lunch. Before excusing herself, she speed walked out of the cafeteria into the hallway. Putting her hand on the wall, and Asuka took deep breaths in. She did all that before leaning over to the wall to rest her forehead and close her eyes.
Right then, Asuka had a deep desire to cry and shout at the top of her lungs, but she couldn't, not in her current position. She barely knew anyone there. She didn't want anyone thinking she was weak.
"Shortie!" Lifting her head up, she glanced at the person who called her, only to see Bakugou Katsuki walking towards her with his hands inside his pockets.
Very much like he was in middle school, Asuka wasn't surprised that he called her shortie, wasn't surprised he had an angry frown on his face and she wasn't surprised when he asked the question.
"How did you even get transferred here? Without taking the entrance exam." Bakugou harshly said, getting closer and closer to her.
Asuka looked straight in his eyes and responded calmly. "The only other way I could have gotten in is through recommendations, Katsuki-kun."
Bakugou chuckled. "Did you get recommendations from your mother's friends?"
Asuka was caught off-guard by his statement, immediately retorting. "What do you want, Bakugou? Yes, they are my mother's friends, but they are my family! I go to this school because I am good, not because I have connections. You don't know how it feels lose someone you love, who loved you unconditionally. It hurts, it hurts like hell and I don't need you to remind me!"
Bakugou knew that he had touched a nerve. It was the most sensitive topic there was for Asuka and he knew it, he freaking knew it.
He didn't have time to apologize or say anything else as the sirens go off inside the building, making him turn around. The sudden noise made Asuka jump on his back. She clued onto his back like a koala.
"Security Level 3 Has Been Breached. Students, Please Promptly Evacuate."
Bakugou jolted and quickly yelled at her. "Get the fuck off of me, Shor-!"
He stopped when he felt her body tremble, making him remember, that Asuka was a big scary cat when she was younger. She would jump on his back if she saw or heard something that scared her, back then, just like she did now.
"Kacchan!" The little black haired girl jumped onto the ash blond spiky hair boy. She trembled with teary eyes,
"Protect me."
Seeing as some 4th graders walking towards them, she clenched his clothes with her tiny fists. "What did you do?!"
"I just bumped into some boy!"
When they were younger, Asuka would always run to Bakugou when she accidentally got into a problem that she couldn't solve by herself. She would count on Bakugou to scare them away or something. If she was emotional, she would be yelling back at him, before jumping on his back and pull his cheeks. Afterward, she'd break down in tears.
Old habits die hard. Bakugou Katsuki and Takemi Asuka could be considered best friends, since pre-school.
Over the years the gap between them widened, especially after the incident with her family.
The memory made him sigh in disbelief and grumpy walk down the exit with Asuka on his back.
"..Sorry.." He mumbled, feeling her grip tighten.
Asuka had just started remembering the good old days when her mother was alive. They would bake together and play games with each other.
The tears slipped down her eyes, falling on the floor before Bakugou's feet.
