chapter two
The next day comes in a blink of an eye, and the world is almost in a daze. I've been woken up at five in the morning, and I'm not a morning person. We've been staying in a hotel in O'Khasis since last night for the concert tonight, and it's currently a mess for getting ready.
Laurance had forgotten to pack a pair of pants for him to wear tonight, but he hadn't notice that he didn't bring them until last minute once it was time to get ready. If it weren't for Vylad pounding on Alex's and my hotel bedroom door while I was slipping a shirt on over my head, I wouldn't have known that Laurance had called, a now furious, Leo regarding the missing clothing article. Now, Leo is running around wild like a chicken with its head cut off trying to buy Laurance a new pair of pants and deliver it to him at the hotel. And on top of all that, be able to have us arrive at sound check on time for the concert. For being nineteen, Laurance is irresponsible.
Leonardo Nighman has been our manager for around three years now. He had found us on YouTube, like others have been found on, and there must've been something he liked or saw in us that brought him to our doorsteps. At first, Vylad was semi paranoid about him, but mom seemed perfectly fine with the band becoming a career for the meantime as long as we continued with our studies. But after we started to continue to go to our public school, Phoenix Drop High, mini blowouts occurred that we're brought to Leo's attention that we should be privately tutored for an education. This left Vylad in complete awe considering he had the ability to quickly learn whatever he wanted faster than those left behind in Phoenix Drop High. Leo is currently in his late twenties in a serious relationship with his girlfriend, Adaline, and he even plans to purpose to her in a little bit of time. In the end, Leo feels like another father to me, and I am in his corner routing for him no matter what happens.
Alex sighs at her older brother as he raids what we have inside of the minifidge in the corner of the room in the little section dedicated as a small kitchen. "Must I really have to pack not only an extra shirt, but now a pair of pants for him in my suitcase when we leave to places because he's too stupid to double check his own? Was not only going on stage, but also walking around town, in no shirt not enough of a lesson to teach you? It's not a mistake if you keep repeating it!" She lets out an exasperated sigh as she watches him open up a single can of soda, take one sip from it, and get rid of it quickly only to to get a new one. "What are you doing? Act your age, Laurance! You are nineteen and I am sixteen, but somehow I still manage to have to pick up after you like a mother. And you need to stop wasting all the sodas like that, I'm going to limit you to only water soon."
"I happened to enjoy being shirtless, and the ladies did as well," Laurance says and walks over to us with his hands on his hips in a sassy like manner. He glares down at the shorter girl, and his bare legs stick out like a sore spot. "You're not my mother, and you can not tell me what to do."
She returns the expression to him but instead tries to double its effect. "Where's the Laurance that would take care of me at the orphanage because it appears to me that that roles has been changed. How does that feel, big brother?" He glares at her once more and then quickly sticks his tongue out at Alex to fluster her. "Ugh, you're going to be the reason why I go bald!"
"I thought all the hair dye you put into your hair was going to make you go bald first but now I have a goal to look forward to."
She lets out an annoyed cry. "Do you want to die?"
Vylad tries to bud into their conversation to stop the fight that is bound to happen in a matter of only seconds, but he is saved the trouble, and the possible punch, once Leo opens the door with his key and throws a pair of pants towards Laurance's face with force.
"You better squeeze your flat butt in those pants and hurry up and get into the lobby where your bodyguards are to transport you down the street to the venue of the night," Leo hisses at him and watches the other three of us quickly walk towards the door when I hear Laurance jump forward a few times and fall onto the ground. In the end that means that he was trying to put pants on while trying to run to the lobby. Leo laughs at the site and playfully kicks Laurance's side with a foraged stern tone of voice. "I never said you could lay down. Get up!"
Laurance grabs onto the front of his pant's waistline and sprints as fast as he can down the hallway without tripping over his own two feet. The laughter from in front of me erupts from the small girl holding the red bandana against the top of her head and the messy brown haired boy who already managed to drop a single drumstick on the ground. I stop for a minute and grab it and hand it over to him. Our hands touch for a moment, and Vylad gives me a large smile and thanks me for doing the simple act.
The walk down to the venue for the night wasn't much different from the last one. Each time, especially when it's as early in the day like it is right now, our faces are locked in pictures as our eyes are blinded in camera flashes. The constant screams fill our ears, and Laurance turns around and winks at a nearby girl. I laugh quietly under my breath to myself due to the fact that Laurance had been filled with so much confidence even if a few girls had seen him trying to fix the button on his pants in the lobby when they were surrounding the doors to the hotel. Not to mention, they have pictures of him trying to get his pants on.
We're quickly rushed inside of the building, and the fans are pushed away as I turn back at them and smile and wave my hand around vigorously.
We all have our little movements. Laurance has his flirtatious wink while Vylad has a signature smile he constantly gives to our fans. When it comes to me, I smile oftentimes and give them silly little waves or I reach out to them for a split second and give them a brief hug. Alex however, likes to take after her brother and blows little air kisses that soon turn into small waves where her fingers wiggle and a small giggle slips through her lips. When she doesn't do that, there may be a small giggle but a definite short, and normal, wave as a soft smile is given out. The body guards normally try to get us to our destination in one piece with little pictures and physical contact as possible, so it can be hard for some of these actions to occur.
After being pushed and prodded into sound check, my thirst for water overpowers me and my petite frame is quickly running off for water.
