chapter twenty three
Laurance is like the tail you never knew you had. Almost like a three year old with his constant questions. How was your first day of school? Did you make friends? Bet you missed me, didn't you?
I'm about ready to rip up his high school diploma like he never received one to begin with. If he has to many questions, maybe he should be the one going to high school instead of me.
Leo watches us stretch on the ground. I don't know when we started stretching, but Vylad claims it'll make a good practice to be all 'loosened up.' I think he may just be tired of Laurance complaining that he thinks he pulled a butt muscle.
I lean forward to grab hold of my toes, leaning over slightly in an almost bump like state. I glance up to Laurance to see him watching me. He tries to repeat my actions, but he can't even touch his toes. He sits back up, trying to act as though he meant to do that.
"I've decided that I want you three to also help with the music video," Leo tells us before glancing over at Vylad with a smile. He has a deck of cards in his hand. I glare at it. "Vylad's pictures and videos are wonderful, but it'd be even better for your guys' point of view so Vylad's included." He lets out a breathy chuckle, finding his own comment funny.
"Put the cards down," I say, looking from the cards to Leo, then back to the cards again. "When you played cards last, we were sent back to school."
He looks at me dumbfounded, confused on my words before he slips them into his pocket. He looks to Laurance before looking back at me. "Laurance and I were playing Go Fish earlier," he says. "School was Zianna's idea. Hayden seems pleased with it."
Alex scoffs, "he's pleased because he's waiting for the band to blow up in my face. He doesn't feel this way towards Laurance."
The room falls silent for a moment before Leo sighs. He looks around at our instruments, letting out a hum before announcing the next concert date. This excites me that he doesn't want to leave the band on a hold and instead insists on letting us continue to play.
After this, he insists on having our instruments sent in for a tune up and upgrades. Laurance makes a comment about duck tape being the solution to everything, but Leo stares at him funny. Laurance goes silent before how today went once more.
This man will be the death of me.

"Laurance, I'd like you you to meet Emily Davis."
Laurance turns around to see a new friend of mine. He gives off a charming smile and winks at her. "Nice to meet you, Emily."
She nods her head to signal that she felt the same way, smiling afterwards. She's currently at the studio with us because of a group project the two of us are in together. We need to work on it, and she was dying to see what a rehearsal was like.
I didn't mind because it was one rehearsal, and we would go to my house afterwards to do the project. I'm sure that Leo wouldn't mind because this isn't Aphmau, and Emily is just here for a short practice.
He sits in a seat, her eyes hungry as they take in everything around her. She scans the stage, finding herself standing up and chest tight against the stage. "Woah, Y/N, this is so cool!"
I look around and shrug. This is so normal to me know that practices aren't as exciting as concerts are.
Laurance invites her up, and she happily obliges. Slowly she walks around, walking in circles to take everything in.
This causes a conversation to commence of musical talents. Laurance invites her to strum a few notes on his guitar before she admits that she plays bass.
I lift an eyebrow, intrigued by this before looking around for Alex. Her bass is here, but she's no where in sight. I glance to Laurance, and we both lock eyes. They're a mutual agreement on what should happen.
Laurance goes over to her bass, Emily and myself following in toe before he picks it up. He gives it to Emily, telling her to play something.
She plays a few cords and pleases Laurance. He runs over to his guitar, picking it up and playing a little tune. "Try adding onto this," he says, watching as she gives it a moment before getting the feel of what he was repeatedly playing and tries something of her own. It mixes well, and I try to add my own little twist on it through my own guitar.
Soon the love birds come out from backstage and stop. Alex eyes is skeptically before she says something. "'Kay. . ." She slowly, and hesitantly, says before glancing back at Vylad.
Emily stops and puts down the bass before apologizing. Laurance stops her from doing this and has us take the blame instead.
Alex slowly shakes her head before sighing, saying that it'd be best to start the practice.
