Folks, I'm very disappointed that this was yet another dead end story, because this was an awesome read.  I will go straight to the end though, and point out that it ended with romance in bloom.  Let me remind everyone that a lot of Wattpad writers are young, and need to experience life more before they can actually start writing about it.  And the author of this story admitted she only does this in her free time, so this is a writer that has her own private life outside of Wattpad, with her own set of priorities.  We all need to learn to accept that, especially when reading through thousands of stories on a site free of charge.

Anyway, meet Kayla.  First chapter, Kayla is just a child.  She has an adorable puppy, and then one day when her parents take them out for ice-cream, there is an alien invasion and her mother dies.....Or so she thought.  Imagine her surprise in the next chapter when she finds out she is still alive, after she and the dog grow up on a military base to become killers of the Xantian race that is. 

There is an alien she manages to befriend, Ergo, who sort of takes the roll of her big brother.  She likes him despite they are on enemy lines, and he has a very calming demeanor about him, even as she begins to worry that he might be getting sick.  She is very attracted to Prince Kilian, and the animosity as well as the attraction is very mutual to the both of them. 

There are things that Kayla was unaware of but managed to piece together, that her mother was actually a Xante rather than a human as she thought, making her a "halfling."  This knowledge haunts Kayla.  Even though she still can't quite out-run the Xante, or not as strong as they are, she more than makes up with her fiery spirit and out-smarts them at many a moment, if only she weren't so impatient and would take the time to think things through. 

This story has a very good set-up:  Love, hatred, anger, betrayal, lies.... Though I have said quite a lot, anyone that would actually read this tale will be bound to say "I did not see that coming" at some point or another. 

The story ends (so far) with Kayla getting reunited with her dog, and Kilian coming to terms that he cares about her, like it or not.  I would have to add as a conclusion to my blog of this tale, in my own personal experiences, I can see some complications unfolding for the characters story.  For one thing, Kilian has an older brother.  It will be very likely that it could cause some complications as in many cultures, the older sibling marries first.  There are also issues with both Kayla and Kilian's mothers, but I will allow the readers to find out what they are for themselves.

Pros:  Very easy to put yourself in Kayla's shoes.

Cons:  Some blood and violence

Overall:  Great read.
