Sarah has had a very rough time.  Her grandmother falls ill, she has to give up her job to take care of her, she loses her anyway, and then she also loses the lease on her apartment.  The home of her grandmother is the only place she has left to go.  But there are some strange things about it.

On the one hand, it's a beautiful manner, and all she has to do is oversee it.  She will get a monthly salary for living there to cover her expenses, and any bills it takes to make repairs will not be taken from her.  Of course, that kind of puts a damper on things when the manner house is owned by a reclusive vampire and he has family that covets the house and would go so far to kill her to take it from him.  On the upside, she also does have a very close resemblance to the said vampire's former lover, a mortal woman that was murdered in that very home.

The over all tone of the story, dark, bittersweet, undertones of anxiety and fear for your life, but also an overwhelming amount of curiosity to find answers to so many question.  Sarah wonders about the origins, and what is going on with the peculiar accidents, and why does it always feel like someone is watching her?

It's a mysterious world that unfolds before your eyes, of silent predators with super powers yet to be revealed.  And also, a brand new hope that loved ones will be revealed.  There's also a red-headed hippy girl as a friend of Sarah's that I'm very fond of.  I hope she gets to live.
