Nameless

Nameless is the name of our main character for the longest part of this story, so don't mind me if I refer to her as "our girl." First of all, our girl is an only child raised with her mom. They move around a lot. You can feel that the two of them are close, but our girl had to move around a whole lot, and as a result never really got to set down roots and make some lasting friendships. The result is a girl who spent the biggest part of her life adjusting, and never really gets a chance to see how bright she can shine.
Back to the present, she is introduced to a couple of students, and they are friendly enough. And our girl clings to them like a vine because they allow her too. Then she meets Ari.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a teenage story of self-discovery, so if you have a problem about teenagers trying to figure out about themselves, and have nothing to offer to the conversations in this book but vice, then please scroll on along; but, our girl finds Ari attractive all along, even as she is figuring out things.
Ari is one of those "perfect" girls that people either love or hate. She's beautiful, smart, friendly, and practically excells at everything. You are either a fan of her, or you hate her because of pett jealousy. I can't help but note though the similarities between Ari and our girl. In essence, they are the same, but the way they were nurtured and raised is where their similarities in. Our girl is a late bloomer, like dandelion seed floating in the wind, still waiting for the right conditions to take root and thrive. Ari has been able to set roots, but she faces a lot of neglect and abuse. Ari has a rich family and can afford anything she wants, but she is really seeking out attention. So she makes up for it with reckless behavior, be it shredding on her skateboard or getting over indulgent with alcohol. She also reveals what she sees in the mirror when she looks at herself, and her reflection is not what you would expect at all.
There is some sex in this story, but it's not entirely x-rated. Even people that aren't into romance that much shouldn't feel too uncomfortable with it. There are some moments when things go terribly wrong, but I've seen much worse in real life, so I don't believe there will be any trigger warnings necessary, but our writer does take precautions just in case.
I've talked about this story with friends, our lovely writer, Izzy among them. This is more of a story of self-discovery than romance in my opinion. It centers more on our girl and romance just happens to be there, rather than the center of the tale. It's a story of friendship and loyalty, and standing by one another, even as "the shit hits the ceiling." All in all, great story and I hope you read it.
