"Morton Gets a Dragon" is a children's tale.  A children's tale written especially for the LGBT community.  As a mother myself, it kind of irks me to put a child 12 an under in the homosexuality or heterosexuality bracket.  Let's face it, at certain ages, it's more like WHATsexuality?  As in they are too young for that to begin with.  But Morton, this is not about him.  This is about a boy who doesn't feel he has a normal family because "normal families" all get to have a pet.  And when he gets a pet, what does he get?  A dragon? 

In this case, this is a story where Morton's Moms happen to be gay.  Sometimes the best way to accept something that is so obviously "different," is by not pointing out the obvious at all.  Two moms.  That's it.  La dee dah dah dah.  Go on about your day.  And you do.  Morton is loved and that is all that matters, and meanwhile he learns to love his dragon too.

I would recommend reading this to your child, because it shows by example how to treat another human being as a human being, and just accepting everyone as they are.
