Meet Kiara Williams.  Kiara is a no-nonsense kind of girl.  Very street-smart.  She has to be.  No father figure, mother addicted to heroin, Kiara has had nobody but herself to rely on for a very long time.  After her best friend is sexually assaulted by one of their teacher's, Kiara of course has to save the day...and pays for it.

Now Kiara is stuck in modern-day Japan with a father who admits he never wanted her, and if dealing with bullies at school is not bad enough, her father will throw her out of the house, making a minor like herself homeless if she does not "behave."

What sets this story apart and puts it in the fantasy genre, Kiara rescues this cat that is not really a cat at all, but a demi-god, that can shift into the form of a human.  Somewhat anyway.  The human form reminds me a lot like the Japanese manga character, Inuyasha, be honest, but he's a half-demon dog hybrid.

I was a big Inuyasha fan, so finding another character that just reminds me of him brings a smile to my face.  The story dynamics though are all Aaron Ledger's.  I really do hope that I get to see this story finished.

Update:  Aaron had pulled Heartstrings from their published stories list, and many others, assuming because it was not as popular as SleepSong or Because I Love You.
