Masks are for Masquerades
She was sad, but nobody really knew. She had friends, but she felt so detached from them because she knew they didn't care as much as they should. She was there for everyone when they had a problem. She always made sure the ones she cared about were alright. She always checked on them when they showed any signs of feeling an emotion other than happiness. No one ever did that for her. But could she really blame them? After all, she did always have a smile on her face and a pep in her step. What she felt on the inside was the biggest contradiction. She had a frowning heart and legs that were as supportive as stilts. She wanted to sleep all day but when night came her mind decided to poor out its emotions into its own diary. She knew all of her friends secrets but they would never know hers because they would never ask. She knew what was upsetting all of her friends and loved ones but they never knew because they'd never ask. She had good grades even though she couldn't focus on her assignments. She had somewhat of a social life even though she wanted to plug in her head phones and be left alone. She said conceited things even though she hated herself. She helped others even though know one helped her. She acted like she didn't care even though she did. Her behavior seemed to always contradict her mental processes. She acted as though she didn't notice even though she did.
