Episode 2: Mutant Mayhem

"I must've been hallucinating..." Talon growled to himself before he slammed on the gas, and then flew off back to base. He might as well check on himself.

But that's when the computer dinged. Talon rolled his eyes before seeing it was a message from Commander Shard. He tapped on the screen, showing the message. No actual message to him or a letter...but a blueprint in a way.

Three Shades, but they weren't robotic or anything. They were almost chaotic in design, which confused Talon. The one on the far left had four eyes AND four arms, and was orange, and apparently female due to their tail.

The middle one had multiple parts of an insect on her body, a giant 'scorpion' tail sprouting from their back, and claws of a 'mantis'. Earth had strange names for their insects...but it seems Shard took a liking to them if he wanted a Shade to have parts of one.

The final one on the far right had razor sharp horns, claws, and a visible mouth, filled with fangs. And...wings? Wings of an apparent mythical creature that humans called a 'dragon'.

After a bit of scrolling, and when Talon finally arrived back to base, he found a little message from Shard. "These are mutants. I have the subjects ready for you, and I want them to be apart of the army with my specifications. Do not disappoint me, General Talon." Talon read aloud before grinning. "Not a bad idea."

He then headed into the laboratory and kept walking further and further into it before seeing test tubes, all of them holding unconscious Shade inside. Talon grinned before grabbing the blueprint in the form of a hologram.

"Dragon, hybrid of mantis and scorpion, and an arachnid. Simple." Talon said as he grabbed a keypad and then began to rapidly type into it before he pressed one final key.

Orange smoke covered the soon to be spider mutant. Red smoke covered the soon to be dragon mutant. And green smoke covered the soon to be insect hybrid.

Talon grinned before hearing screams of agony and for some reason, it made him jump. He blinked and looked at himself. That was...unusual. He would never JUMP at screams like that, as if he was scared by or hated the sound of them.

The green Slasher shook his head and then looked back at the tubes, watching the gauges go up slowly and fill with their color. All of them were halfway, showing the mutation was almost complete.

"Well, this should go off without a hitch." Talon grinned before he began thinking back to that purple Shade, the traitor...why did it look almost EXACTLY like him? And more importantly, how did he see him if Shard himself killed him? And when Talon killed the traitor with his bare hands, he just disappeared!

Then, a scientist Shade walked in. "Sir? Are you alright?"

"Y-Yes. I'm fine." Talon said before looking from side to side before facing the scientist Shade. "Actually...I had this weird vision while searching for Rebels."

"Weird vision? As in an hallucination?" She asked.

"Yes! And it was...so...so...WEIRD." Talon said. "I saw the traitor. The purple Slasher that Shard killed. You know?"

The scientist nodded, taking out something and typing it down. "Go on."

"So, I was confused. He's dead! But the computer told me he was a rebel, so I attacked him and killed him. But the next second? His corpse disappeared and so did his blood. I went back to the hover car, and it's A.I. said there wasn't even a rebel in the first place!" Talon then growled. "I don't wanna seem like a crazy person in front of Commander Shard."

"Well...I can't really think of an answer to why you had this. But for all we know, it could be an inner desire. Wanting to be in the battlefield!"

"I suppose that's true..." Talon said. "Thanks. Mind watching the mutants Commander Shard wanted?"

"Of course, sir." The scientist nodded as Talon walked out of the room and into the main area of the lab...but it was empty.

"Strange...did everyone go on break?" Talon asked. "No...we don't have breaks." He told himself before continuing to walk around.

But then...he heard footsteps. He turned around to the entrance, figuring it was a scientist. "Okay, at least one of you is here. Now can you tell me why the lab is suddenly-" He then gasped, and instantly took out his blades.

It was a short purple Shade that once again, looked exactly like him. But Talon could actually see his face instead of just the back of his head. And now, the resemblance was undeniable. The traitor cracked his neck before showing their own blades, which were purple.

Talon growled. "Oh, who am I kidding? You're not real! I have NOTHING to fear." Talon began to laugh as he retracted his blades. "I'm just going crazy. I'll just punch myself and wake up-"

But then the traitor lunged at Talon and punched him in the face, sending him across the laboratory.

Talon groaned in pain as he picked himself up, and then growled, taking out his blades. "OH, NOW YOU'RE GONNA WISH YOU STAYED DEAD!!!" He roared, and lunging at the traitor, swinging his green blades at the traitor.

The traitor only expertly dodged, his body moving as fast as the wind before swinging at Talon, his purple blade clashing with his green blade. Sparks flew from the clash as the two blades of steel clashed and fought, but then the battle was broken and started to slide through the air, clashing over and over as they were swung.

Talon roared before thrusting his other blade towards the traitor, but the traitor backflipped into the air, dodging the attack.

The traitor then attacked Talon again, swinging his blades rapidly at him before both of their blades were stuck in a clash.

"WHO ARE YOU?!?!" Talon roared, getting the fact that this definitely wasn't just him hallucinating.

The traitor didn't respond, their white eyes only turned purple and he broke the clash, spun around and kicked Talon in the gut, sending him crashing into a computer screen.

Talon groaned before he once again lifted himself up. He then cracked his neck before spinning around into a green twister, zooming at the traitor.

The traitor crossed his arms, retracting his blades. "Who are you?"

Talon stopped spinning, confused, but that's when the traitor grabbed him and punched him in the face, knocking him out cold.

"Sir? Sir?! SIR!!!" A voice screamed.

Talon groaned before sitting up and seeing the lab trashed, slash marks all across the room. Talon then stood. "Where is he?! I want a rematch!!"

"Where is WHO, sir?!" The scientist he had talked too earlier screamed. "You just randomly started attacking the air! You scared everyone half to death! You're lucky they're too scared of you to tell Commander Shard!"

"I...I what?" Talon asked, facing her.

The scientist grabbed a tablet and then showed Talon his fight...but he wasn't fighting anyone. The fight played out like when the traitor was there, but there was no traitor and the other scientists were actually there, but had ran away when Talon took out his blades.

"I...I did that?" Talon asked.

"And then you flung yourself across the room, like someone had punched you!" The scientist exclaimed. "It was like you were possessed or something, like in those Earth horror films."

"This...This does NOT leave this room." Talon commanded, his voice shaky. He was trying with all of his might to NOT freak out.

The scientist nodded slowly. "D-Did you see the traitor again?"

"Y-Yeah...but he actually ATTACKED me." Talon said. "And when I asked who he was, he asked me 'Who are you?'" Talon repeated. "I think I'm going crazy that I'm fighting a ghost or something!"

"This is more serious than I thought, sir." The scientist said.

"No. No. I'll be fine. I just gotta get my mind clear." Talon said. "Shard CANNOT know. Where are the mutants?"

"T-They're ready for deployment." The scientist said as she lead Talon deeper into the lab and then inside the room they were in earlier.

Talon narrowed his eyes and then slammed his fist onto a button, opening the tubes.

All three tubes opened in unison. First stepped out the orange spider Shade, who growled as her tail swung back and forth.

The next was the insect, who was a very dark green. Her scorpion tail then SHOT out into the air, as if she was trying to sting what wasn't there.

The final was the dragon, who spread his wings and growled. All three of them saw Talon and bowed.

"You know your mission." Talon said before his eyes went green. "FIND THE REBELS."

"S-Sir, are you sure that's what Shard-"

"DO NOT QUESTION ME!" Talon shouted, his voice still shaky.

Despite Talon's outburst, the mutants only nodded before they all walked out of the lab, ready for their mission.

(Well!! What a twist! Maybe. Was it a twist? XDD

Anyway! I hope you enjoyed Episode 2, and the mutant characters belong to my friend

Thanks for letting me use the mutants, Drmixer! And if I'm saying your name twice, it's because Wattpad won't let me give you a mention or I'm not doing something right.)
