Chapter Three- The Graylands
POV: Scar
I just stared at her. It must have looked rude, me staring like that.
"Uh, you okay there, darling? Why are you staring at me?" She said.
I managed to stutter a "y-yeah. im okay. uhhh..."
She looked at me, her expression softening. "You're not from here, I get it. Must be strange for a newcomer." She said in a soft voice, reaching out her hand. "Im Viper. This is the Graylands, my home sweet home."
I shook her hand. "Scar," I replied. "My name is scar. The portal," I pointed to the gray portal. "just appeared." She was just a bit shorter than me. She was skinny, wore an oversized dark red sweatshirt with black sweatpants. How wasn't she hot here? Her hair, covering some of the left side of her face, was a dark-ish brown, going past her shoulders. The brown of her eyes matched her hair.
"Well, yeah, the portal tends to pop up sometimes. Where are you from, Scar?"
"Well, Im from a place called HermitCraft. Its awesome! Its big and there are like 25 of us! Everything is colorful, and we build cool stuff!" I exclaimed. I felt bad for Viper, living in a world with no color. Oh, she was holding something. What was it?
"That sounds really cool, Scar. Much better than the Graylands." She laughed. "Well, at least I get to hang out with my animals here. Oh, I havent introduced you to them yet, have I? How rude of me!" She led me over to the... creatures. Pointing to the kangaroo with wolf-like features and green paws, she explained, "well, this is Sylvester. And Archer, the angel-cat, you must have met him already. He loves visitors." She pointed to all of the rest of the 5 creatures, telling me their names. It was strange.
Finally I asked: "Hey, Viper? What... What are you holding?"
She looked at me, confused. "Well, its my flute, darling... Oh, you must have never seen one before. Ah, you must have heard the music. Well, this is what helps me make the music."
I looked at her. "Oh. We use noteblocks in HermitCraft to make music. But we dont use it often." I explained. She gripped her 'flute' tighter. I wondered why. Then, she held it up to her mouth. She drew in a deep breath, flexing her fingers. Then, something amazing happened. She breather in to it, moving her fingers swiftly. She made music, like we do with noteblocks. But with a.. pipe. Every time she moved her fingers, it made it sound different. Then, she stopped.
"That was really cool," I gasped.
She laughed. "Sylvester!" She called. The kangaroo-wolf bounced up and look the flute from her. He happily bounced away with it. She chuckled again.
"Well, Scar, I see you have a pair of wings. Is that how you got all the way over here? Or did you walk? It must have been a far walk." She said, picking up Archer.
"Yeah, I walked. How do you know bout the elytra? Do you have one?" He asked her.
"Well, i have an 'elytra' as you call it, yes." She opened a pair of wings that just magically appeared on her back. But, there was something wrong with them. The silvery-white wings were bandaged in some places, clearly broken in others. Blood stained some of the feathers.
"They're just a bit.. ah... broken." She said, folding them against her back. Then they were gone.
"Can you even fly?" I stuttered, amazed. You cant break your wings like that in HermitCraft. They just ran out of durability and broke.
"Well, no." She answered. Her eyes lit up a bit. "But i dont need to fly! I can do something else really cool! Ready?" She asked. I nodded in response. Suddenly she was gone. In her place, a black viper with red eyes. My jay dropped. she was a SNAKE. A SNAKE!
"uh..wh.." I stuttered. She morphed back into the female standing before me a few seconds ago.
"I can morph into a snake..." She stuttered, rubbing the back of her neck, embarrassed.
"Thats really cool... but strange. We dont have snakes in HermitCraft." I explained.
Maybe she should come check out HermitCraft... just for a few moments... I thought. I felt bad for Viper, she only had a bit of color in her life.
"Hey, you should come back with me, just for a few moments. To see HermitCraft!"
She sighed. "Alright Scar... let me say goodbye to my animals and we'll go. But only for a few moments."
I nodded. "Just a few moments."

I stepped out of the portal, back in the dig spot, Viper emerging from the portal behind me. She looked amazed. Her jaw dropped.
"woahhh"
I chucked. "Well, Viper, welcome to HermitCraft." I said. I told her about how this was the work site for my newest project.
"This is super cool, Scar! There's color everywhere!" She said, louder than she needed to.
I led her over to the whimsical village. It was a really long walk, but she couldn't fly. It would have to work for now.
She was amazed at everything. The village, the huge tree looming in the distance, the giant shadow of G's mansion. Jellie was sitting on the roof of one of the village houses, and climbed down to meet me. I petted her. "This is Jellie! Shes my cat." I say to Viper. She bends down nect to Jellie and pets her. "Nice to meet you Jellie!" She says to my cat.
"Scar, I think this has been enough fun for today. I think I should head home now." She told me. I nodded and we started the walk back.

The portal wasn't there. THE PORTAL. WASN'T THERE.
"Scar! Where did the portal go!?" Viper exclaimed, fear in her voice.
"I dont know! It was there a few minutes ago when we left!" I stuttered.
I should get X. He can help! I pulled out my phone, texting X. "X! GET OVER HERE!" I texted him.
Viper looked around, fear in her eyes. "Scar! I have to go home! What did you do?!" She shouted.
"X is on his way! Dont worry! We'll get you home!"
