Chapter 9- Hot Chocolate and Tape

POV: Xisuma

While Stress and Scar raced up the stairs, I darted off to the right towards where Viper fell. Running with a shulker in your arms is harder than I thought it would be. Stress and Scar, being two of three healers on the server, had shulkers packed for emergencies. Im glad they did.

How did she even manage to fall of the staircase? Did she not know the ledge was right there? I thought upon as I was nearing her. She was sitting up, so my surprise, broken wings surrounding her like a blanket. She was shaking, holding her head and hissing. I wondered if Doc could hiss. He was part creeper- Yes, he could. I'd heard him before.

No time now-

Finally reaching her, she looked up at me and managed a weak smile.

"Hey, Ruvio! New sweatshirt? Yellow, bold choice..." She muttered, holding her arms tighter with her hands. "Did ya bring Shard? I dont see them-"

I was confused, who were Ruvio and Shard? Probably people from the Graylands. No time to ask right now. I sat down across from Viper, quickly opening the shulker and taking out the supplies inside.

"Viper, i'm not Ruvio. Its me, X, okay?" I tell her as she watched me take the shulkers remains.

"Oh. Yeah, yeah... you dont have ginger hair..." She stuttered quietly. I was starting to unwrap the bandages, scooting closer to her and started wrapping the wound on her wrist. To my surprise, she screamed and hissed at me. I stopped what I was doing and just stared at her. Finally, I handed her the bandages.

"You want to do it yourself? Alright." She took the bandages with a nod, and started to hum.

"Im sorry for hissing at you. I dont like it when people touch me..." She said quietly and continued to hum. I nodded. She had done what she could by now, wrapping the wounds on her arms but not on her legs. Scar was heading towards us now, Stress and Tango probably still up on the staircase. He looked worried, still holding his shulker. By the time he reached us, Viper needed more bandages. Where had the ones I had given her gone? I saw her wings and realized she started to (somehow) wrap up parts of the left one.

"Hey, Viper, how you feeling?" Scar asked her as he sat down.

"Cold." She told him, wrapping her wings tighter around her body.

"Anything else?" Scar was already taking more bandages out. Viper took them from him and starting wrapping parts of her right wing.

"Well, I mean yeah. I have a splitting headache, im nauseous, dont wanna stand up, and feel like I could sleep for ages. What, you mean this doesn't happen when you get cold?" She asked, looked from me to Scar. We shook our heads.

"Scar, the sun is starting to set. We should start going back, your village is closest." I tell him. He nods. I started packing the unused stuff back in the shulker as Viper, to our surprise, got up on her own. She didn't break anything from the fall. Strange, it was really high up...

I knew she wasn't going to make it back on her own. But I also know she didn't want help. Well, she didn't want to be touched. Scar nodded to me and started going the direction he came, and I saw Stress and Tango standing there. Viper started to slowly walk over there, limping a bit, but otherwise managed it just fine. Once again, surprising me.

The five of us slowly made it back to Scar's village, and Viper walked over to the tree where her flute and sweatshirt were. She picked them up. We headed inside one of the larger houses in Scar's village, Scar having to shoo the villagers out. Viper sat down on the floor instead of the couch, which now sat Tango and Stress. Scar and I each sat down in a chair. The room was silent, before Viper got up a few minutes later and went into the bathroom. She emerged wearing one of Scar's t-shirts, which was too big for her, and a pair of his shorts.

"Eh, hi-" She muttered as she noticed everyone staring at her. She walked over to her sweatshirt and slipped it on. Stress got up and started a fire in the houses little fireplace, the warmth immediately flooding the house. Viper scooted over to it, getting as close as she could without touching the fire.

"Aha!" Viper yelled, fishing around her sweatshirt pocket. Stress, Tango, and Scar looked just as confused as I was. She pulled out a roll of blue masking tape, and starting doing something I dont think any of us expected. She started wrapping her fingers in the tape, her left hand first, and then struggled to wrap the fingers on her right hand. Scar let out a little laugh, Stress and I doing the same. She finally managed to successfully wrap all of her fingers. She looked at Scar and smirked, throwing the tape at him.

"You should try wrapping up your fingers. Its fun-" She told us. Shrugging, Scar took the tape and started wrapping the blue tape around his fingers. But, unlike Viper, he only did one hand. Viper nodded and looked at Stress.

"Fine," Stress laughed and began wrapping her fingers. She managed to do her left hand and two of the fingers on her right before giving up, and threw the tape over to me. I knew I had to, but I didnt really want to. So, reluctantly, I started wrapping up my fingers, and when I was done, both of my hands had blue fingers. So I threw the tape over to Tango. He laughed a little bit and also, to our surprise, wrapped his fingers in tape. Like me, he taped all 10 of them. Then, when she was satisfied, Viper began fishing through her sweatshirt pocket once again. She smiled and walked into the small kitchen in another room.

She emerged 5 minutes later with four mugs. She smiled, handing them to Stress, Tango, Scar and I.

"Hot chocolate!" Viper exclaimed before going back and emerging with another mug for herself. I sipped it, preparing for it to be hot. And, oh, it was hot. I had to wait a bit before drinking it, careful not to burn my tongue, and the others did the same. But not Viper. She sipped it contently. Before long, Tango and Stress were asleep, still holding their mugs, fingers still wrapped in blue tape. Then I realized Scar looked worried. He looked over to me and whispered only one word, but one that made me realize something had to have gone wrong.

"Grian-" He whispered.
