Chapter 13- Running

Thank you all for almost 500 reads! Didn't expect to come this far tbh- now on with the chapter!

Third Person POV

It had been two days since Tango and Vipers 'scuffle', and Tango had gone back to his base yesterday. Viper had continued to live in Scar's village. Tango was at his base, accompanied by Xisuma.

"Hey X, do you, uh, think maybe I should tell Impulse and Zed?" He asks, seemingly quite embarrassed.

"Well, I don't see why not..." X replies, as Tango pulls out his communicator. "But you might as well introduce them to Viper while your at it-" He tells the blonde cautiously. Tango shakes his head. "What if something happens to them, like me?" He asks, staring at X.

"It won't," He replies, turning away. "You can tell them today, but meet me and Scar at his village when your done." Tango nods as X walks out of his base and shoots out of sight, into the sky. Tango sighs, sending a message to Impulse and Zed.

TangoTek: Hey, can you guys meet me at my base?

ZedaphPlays: Sure, i'll be there soon.

ImpulseSV: On my way-

TangoTek: Thanks guys

Tango anxiously awaited his two friends arrivals. Zed and Impulse arrived at the same time, touching down on the ground just ahead of Tango.

"Hey Tango, whats up?" Zed asks, confused.

"Uh, I have something to tell you guys..." Zed and Impulse nod. "So, erm, I kinda can turn into a lizard-" He tells his friends, running his hands through his hair, embarrassed. Zed and Impulse look confused, but not angry. More like sad.

"But how?" Impulse asks, which causes Tango to indulge in the long story (im too lazy to write all of it)

At the end, Zed and Impulse nod. They both look slightly heated, now knowing what this 'Viper' had done.

"Xisuma said to go to Scar's village after I told you..." Tango says, looking at Zed and Impulse. They nod.

"Will we meet this 'Viper'?" Impulse asks.

"Im not sure," Tango replies. He really wasn't sure, Viper was a mystery. So the three friends shot off into the sky, heading towards Scar's village.

They saw Xisuma and Scar talking quietly, landing a few feet away from them. Scar waved, said hello, and headed off.

"Hey, how'd it go?" Xisuma asked Tango.

"Uh, good, I guess." He responds. Impulse and Zed hadn't said anything. The four just stood there in an awkward silence, none knowing what to say. It had been like his for a few minutes when Scar returned. Behind him, was Viper. She noticed everyone staring, and waved with a warm smile.

"Hey, im Viper," She introduces herself, receiving a growl from Impulse and a disapproving look from Zed. She must have realized they weren't fond of her, which these days, who was, and her smile faded. She gripped the flute in her left hand harder, before sighing.

"Are we just going to stand here and look at me like im a disgrace?" She asks, looking at Zed, Impulse, and Tango. "Cause I get those looks a lot," She says before sighing again.

"Why would you do that?!" Impulse finally yells at her. She doesn't look offended. Scar, however, looks a little bit worried.

"Hey, maybe ya'll sh-" Scar says softly before he was interrupted by Tango.

"Shut up, Scar!" He growls, looking at the wizard. Viper mutters something under her breath, nobody able to catch what it was. Scar looked hurt, and he huffed and walked away.

"Well?! Why?!" Impulse shouts again.

"Self defense," She replied calmly. But on the inside she was full of fear. She pulled the sleeved of her sweatshirt down, covering her hands, but still gripping her flute.

"Thats some form of self defense you got yourself!" Zed exclaimed, not yelling like Impulse, but his voice raised. "You turned him into a- a lizard! Who's next?!"

Viper's eyes widened. She looked scared. Truly scared. Then Tango decided he wanted his fair share of the yelling.

"Well, are you going to tell them?! Go on, I dare you!" He yelled at her. Her response was barely audible, a soft whisper.

"Grian," She whispered. "I hurt Grian-"

Impulse seemed to anger even more. X tried to stop him, but his sword was already out.

"Impulse, calm down!" X pleaded, gripping one of his wrists. He shrugged X off. Viper backed up a little. Tango did nothing to try and stop Impulse from what he did next. Zed didn't do anything, either.

Impulse swung his sword at Viper, missing. Because she had shifted milliseconds before she would have been hit by the blade. In the spot where she was moments before, lay only her flute. However much she didn't want to, she did what Tango was scared of. She bit Impulse.

He stumbled back, letting out a scream of pain. She shifted back, and put a hand over her mouth, trying not to yell or cry. She didn't mean to, it just happened-

Xisuma pulling out a potion and smashed it on the ground. The screaming stopped. Viper picked up her flute, and ran. An all out sprint.

"Im sorry!" She yelled before running off.

She was aware someone was chasing her, not knowing who, but it didnt last long because they turned and ran back. She approached Scar's nether portal, and ducked in. She warped onto the nether roof, not knowing which way to go. The red fog was thick, just as she remembered it. She chose to go in a random direction and just ran.

"Why do I have to be so dangerous?! Why cant i just go home!" She whispered, starting to cry. But she ran on until her legs wanted to go no further. She saw no traces of any nether portals, and sat down, hugging her knees. She gripped her flute, not ever wanting to let it go.

She knew she was venomous. But not like a normal venom-wielding snake. No, because nothing was normal. She wasnt normal. Why couldn't she just be normal?

She was nothing special back at home, but this wasn't home. She wanted to go home. Back home she couldnt hurt anyone. Not like she could here-

Why did she have to keep hurting people? Why did she agree to come with Scar?

Oh, right. Because it was beautiful here. Everything had color. Not just the people and the animals. The trees, the grass, everything. Brilliant shades of green swarmed the jungle.

But here it was red and plain. Bedrock covered the ground, untouched. The red fog swarmed the Nether. It was warm. Thats why she liked it here. Dark red was her favorite color, just like the fog of the Nether. It was warm, like the Graylands. Home.

But it was plain. Barren. Like home. Like the plain gray fields that made up some of the Graylands. Where she and Ruvio would play tag for hours on end when she was young.

So she got up and continued to run. Taking random lefts and rights, not caring where she ended up. But then, to her surprise, she approached a swirling purple portal. It was labeled 'JoeHills'. She sighed, ducking in. She was met with the dogs she had petted just a few days before. She picked up a brown one, the only one. Brown among the swarm of white.

"Joe?" She whispered, half wishing he wasn't here. Alas, he was. Holding her flute in one hand and the dog in her arms, she walked toward Joe's winery where he was working.

"Joe?" She says, louder this time. He turned and saw her, and a surprised look crept onto his face.

"Well, hey Viper, you alright?" He asks, his southern accent strong.

"I hurt him," She whimpered. "I didnt mean to-" The grip on her flute softened.

"Hey, its alright. Who was it?" He asks softly.

"They called h- him Impulse-" She sniffs. He nods. He signals for her to follow him and they go inside the winery. They head into one of the rooms, and Viper sits down on the floor, not talking. She set her flute down, petting the dog.

"He'll be fine, you know." Joe finally says, rummaging through one of the chests.

"Yeah, I guess-" She says, letting the dog gnaw on one of her fingers. "I just feel really bad about it."

(And this is where I decided to go heat up a cup of chocolate milk to see if it would almost be like hot chocolate- it was not. it was actually pretty terrible)

WC: 1423

Im deciding to end it here because im quite disappointing in my chocolate milk experiment. Nah, im just joking, but I had absolutely no clue what Joe was supposed to say and no clue what was going to happen so y e a h, thats why im ending this chapter here. hopefully i'll manage to get another one done today.

Do ya'll like the Third Person POV or the 1st person POV more? Idk which one I like more, i'll probably continue to do both. this chapter, originally, was supposed to be so different, but bleh, whatever.

im not trying to make anyone look like bad people btw. I watch Tango and know hes not like that, but its just for fun. Its not that I hate Impulse so im making him look bad, its just because I kinda wanted to. Also i cant nail every hermits personality, since I dont watch all of them. So some of them may seem different.
