Paper Hearts
The Paper Prince
Of the Valley of Ink
Was a writer searching
For the perfect story
Only then could he become
The Paper King
It was a role that prized
Battle scars as glory
So one day he called
For a Paper Smith
For a better sword
Forged from Paper breath
But the Paper Smith said
It was all in vain
For the Paper Dragons
Were only a myth
Were only a myth
Were only a myth
Let us wish upon a star
Why must I wish upon a star?
Why not wish upon the earth I see
Than a notion ridiculously far
No, that's not it
So the Paper Prince
Journeyed to wordy mountains
A fairytale is undoubtedly
Some form of vague truth
Hoping he would find a Paper Dragon
That would give him an edge
Over his fellow paper troops
He would never admit it
The Paper Truth.
That his Paper Power
Wasn't good enough
A Prince, the inky citizens
Would never choose
He couldn't hold it
The ink would go right through
I wish upon the moon
Why, I wish upon the dew
I wish I wish I wish I wish
As though my wishes all come true
That's not it either
So the Paper Prince
Folded up his Paper Heart
Squeezed it into a bottle
And threw it towards the Paper Stars
Coming back down it hit his Paper Head
Which was blank all this time
Blinking once, twice
Blinking, no, it could be the Sun in his eyes
Thinking, 'What in the paper planet am I'
Seeing? Are you okay?
He looks for his Paper Glasses
Remembers they're not see through
After all this isn't a paper world
At all
At all
At all
I wish I could see the truth
Just as clearly as I see the lie
As it replays over and over
Poisoning my mind
I wish I could see the truth
My condition desperately tries to hide
I'm not insane, Mr Physician
I'm just in a war on the losing side
I'd love nothing more than to stay and chat
No, no that would just be a lie
I'm losing but it's fiiinnnne
I'm losing but it's fine
I'm losing but it's fi..
He used to say that every time.
