: ) A Christmas Surprise
By the time I made it back home, my entire body ached, my mind was foggy, and all I wanted was to collapse in bed. Pulling the hood of my oversized jacket tighter against the cold, I trudged up the steps to my door.
That's when I noticed it—a package sitting innocently on my doorstep.
"Great," I muttered to myself. "I didn't order anything. Please tell me this isn't another prank from Hawks."
I picked it up, instantly regretting the decision when I nearly dropped it. "What the—why is this so heavy?"
Dragging the box inside, I set it on my kitchen table and stared at it like it was a bomb. For all I knew, it might be. But curiosity got the better of me.
With a deep breath, I tore open the wrapping paper, revealing a sleek black box underneath. A single note was taped to the top.
Merry Christmas, Deku Claus.
I froze.
No way.
Ripping the tape off, I unfolded the letter. It wasn't just any generic Christmas card—it was from Nezu.
Nezu's Letter
Dear Deku the bunny or would you prefer Usagi as some villains call you (or should I say, Izuku?),
You didn't think I wouldn't figure it out, did you? The subtle breadcrumbs you left behind during your little escapades—it was too easy. Perhaps next time, you'll try harder to stay anonymous.
I have to say, I'm impressed.
Despite your... unconventional methods, you've managed to maintain a surprisingly high moral standard. I wish you wouldn't have decided to drop out of UA and stayed. One day you would have become one of the best heroes out there. That I am sure of.
Consider this my gift to you. Think of it as a token of appreciation and encouragement to keep walking your unique path and not to go astray.
Merry Christmas.
- Nezu
P.S. Let's play another game of chess soon. This time, the stakes will be much higher.
I stared at the letter for a moment, then burst into laughter. It started as a small chuckle and grew into full-blown cackling.
"Of course, he knew," I said between gasps. "Why wouldn't he? Nezu probably had my life story on file before I even left UA."
The absurdity of it all hit me like a brick. Here I was, the kid who had been All Might's prodigy, who had given up One for All to someone more deserving. The same kid who had gone from hero-in-training to vigilante hacker, balancing on the edge of crime for the greater good.
And Nezu knew.
The whole time.
I shook my head, still laughing as I turned my attention to the rest of the box.
Inside, neatly organized and packed with the precision only Nezu could manage, was a treasure trove:
A new suit:
Sleek, lightweight, and clearly designed with my vigilante activities in mind. It was similar to my Santa costume but streamlined and adaptable for year-round use. The fabric shimmered faintly, a clear sign of high-tech upgrades.
Gadgets galore:
Grappling hooks, smoke bombs, a compact scanner, and even a mini drone.
Food and tea:
Enough to last me a month, including an expensive-looking tin of green tea that probably cost more than my entire apartment.
I held up the suit, marveling at its craftsmanship. "Okay, Nezu, you've outdone yourself this time."
Sitting back in my chair, I sipped one of the teas Nezu had sent. For the first time in what felt like forever, I allowed myself a moment to breathe.
I thought about everything that had led me to this point—dropping out of UA, passing One for All to Mirio, choosing a path that wasn't traditional but was undeniably mine.
Life as just Deku wasn't easy, but it was fulfilling in ways I hadn't expected. And now, with Nezu's gift, it felt like a strange kind of validation.
As the clock struck midnight, I leaned back and looked at the pile of gadgets and the new suit.
Unbeknown to the rat... I had also given him a gift as a thank you for all the donations... it was some fine wine from the LOV that aged well and is quite rare as well.
"Merry Christmas to you too, Nezu," I said with a grin. "Merry Christmas to you too you all!"
