Backstory: Song used to had a happy childhood, with her sister, Swan and with her mother and father. But due to bankruptcy her father lost his job, which was Amelia's (Song's mother) family business, and blamed it all on Song. She was four years old at the time when he started to become abusive, but he was never able to hurt her due to Swan's and their mother's protection. Her mother is a retired singer and music player, but when she had started to give birth to Swan she immediately retired, thinking that it would be for the best. Oh how wrong she was, if she had just thought clearer then maybe she wouldn't had to lose to much money and be foodless due to her husbands new drinking habits.
It was then her mother tried to secretly collect money so she and her children could run away forever, but however Song made the biggest mistake that will haunt her for the rest of her life. She was always told that if dad was ever upset or if he looked upset she would had to stay away from him and never come out of her room. And always sneak into the kitchen and never bother her, if she does see him in the kitchen then she has to run back into her room and wait until he is done. But Song thought that maybe if she could sing to her father with her mother's harp, then she would be able to make him happy! Right?
Wrong.
He only got angry, and started to scream at her for being such a bother and that she was making too much noise and that she was a awful singer just like her good for nothing mother. Using a wine bottle he was drinking with he used it to smash it over her daughter's right eye, over and over again not even caring that the child was screaming.
Amelia came home right a few minutes, the horrible man that was Song's father still hitting the four year old with the wine bottle. The man shouting at the women who shouts back at him to leave her alone, Swan quickly running in and crying, holding Song close to her as the two argued.
The purplnette was still crying in pain, holding both hands over her right eye, screaming and crying in pain. The oldest was trying hard to calm her sister down, tears of her own flooding down her face. She had no idea what to do to make the pain stop no matter what she did Song kept shouting that it still hurts, that she couldn't stop crying.
The two then hear their mother shout and quickly go over and call 911, but before she could they see their father bring out a gun and shot her in the head, the two of them scream in fear seeing their mother drop to the ground when she brought out the phone, just when she was about to dial in the number.
Song tried to rush over to her mother, crying her eyes out but suddenly she heard a click, when she sees her father point the gun at her age froze in horror and shuts her eye in fear, the gun was shot, but... Nothing came.
Opening her eye she froze in horror seeing her sister on the ground, she had shield her twin sister from the attack, taking a bullet to the forehead, just like her mother.
(Update: feb 13 2022)
After her incident, Song was completely closed off from everyone, she just couldn't trust a single person in fear of her getting hurt, and in fear of them getting hurt themselves by her father who somehow seemed to have managed to keep her by her side just after she had been released from hospital to repair her damaged left eye that she now kept hidden over her bangs.
By the time she turned sixteen she started going to high school, and there she ended up meeting a girl that actually became the first ever friend Song has gained in years. Her full name is Malayasia Frina. But she preferred to be called by Mala for short. How they met you asked?
Well it was somewhat of a... interesting first meeting. Mala was actually a new student who is already eighteen. So by the time it would be the end of the school year she would graduate. It was already lunch period but suddenly she heard music in the music room even though no one should be inside. So she decided to take a peak and inside when she noticed that the door wasn't even closed completely.
When she looked inside she was in complete awe to see Song sitting in a chair, playing her mother's Lyre. Blissfully unaware of her presence and just focusing on the melancholy sounded music with her single eye closed, her fingers fluttering over the silver string and strumming them, so fast that it would make one think a pianist would be as fast as her with how they use their fingers to play the piano.
Mala wasn't able to take her eyes off how Song play... So in awe that she accidentally triped over her own feet when she tried to get closer and fell to the ground, causing the door to open, and immediately at the same time make Song stop and turn her head towards where Mala was and look at her in shock and fear at what on earth suddenly happened. But when she saw that someone had came in spying on her she frowned as she looked at the girl who nervously smiled and laughed as she waved at her.
"Is that always how you greet people? Because to be honest it's rude." Were the first words Song says to Mala, in a very cold tone with a frown on her face as she looked at Mala like she was a sudden menace to her. But she surprised Song when she had laughed, got up on her feet while dusting off her salmon colored burlap skirt as she said back to her with a smile.
"No, not really. Sorry I interuppted you like that. I couldn't help but listen to your music. What's your name?"
... Was she serious?
Those were the first words thought about her, and immediately she left the music room. Mala had tried to stop her, but it lead to Song immediately leaving the music room more quickly.
And ever since that day, Mala just somehow seemed attracted to her. Not in a sexual way or anything of the sort, she just couldn't stop staring at the purplnette whenever she sees her come around her point of view, wither it's in class or at lunch. Mala though would be concerned whenever she heard someone talk about Song since it piratically seemed like everyone in her school avoids her.
"Hey. Did you know? Her father's a murderer."
"Ehh? Seriously? And she still lives with him? What a freak!"
"I heard that it was her fault that he killed her mom and sister, do you think it's true?"
"Maybe. She never speaks up about how old she was when it happened. Most people make assumptions that she probably did recently or maybe years ago, but now most days they think she did cause their deaths."
"How long ago did her father kill them?"
"Twelve years ago, I think."
At those rumors, one would think it would be best to stay away from Song, but however Mala was different.
She instead decided to try and become more closer to Song, just to try and understand her better. She wanted to actual know if those rumors were real, but she didn't want to ask Song directly since of course it would be completely rude. But with her walls being up a lot, it was hard to get anything out of the poor girl. So everyday she decided to hang out with her, talk with her, and get to know her.
"Why do you always hang out with me?" Song asks one day as they talk out in the lunchroom together with a raised brow, and that, Mala shows her a huge grin.
"Because your really interesting, that's why. Plus... You look like you need to have someone to chat with ya, maybe even look after ya too. I mean.. You piratically fell asleep completely for a whole period in math class."
"Yeah, but no one cares. Not even the teacher cared enough to wake me up. They'll only wake me up when Principal Rex does his usual hall and classroom checks just to check up on us students to see if we're working properly."
"Well I do. You seem like you wanted to do your best to stay up earlier. How about I help ya out with your math work?"
"I can do it myself."
"Yeah, but you don't know the problems. You can't figure the questions out without asking the teacher right? And as far as I can tell you don't really ask any of our teachers for help... You only seem to like it when you try to figure things out yourself. I think you should stop trying to be hard on yourself and try to accept some help. So it's either you let me help you or I'll nab your back myself and bring your work out myself."
At that, Song decided to willingly give up and let Mala help her with the homework, and from there the two slowly got along with one another.
It took about a month to try and get her walls down, but it was worth the wait, but... Mala still never asked about the rumors, because... well, she forgot to since it was so much fun to spend time with Song. Even if the situations lead to good things or bad things.
Though, one day in lunch Mala was in for a shock when she had arrived. A couple of older students that were in the same grade as her had dumped milk over Song's head when she had been trying to work, shocking the purplnette into silence as her work gets completely messed up. As everyone in lunch laugh, the main jerk that decided to do what she did named Mimi, let out a loud laugh.
"Whoops~! My bad!" She says, laughing louder with her friends.
Growling darkly, Song had gotten up, pushed Mimi out of the way and rushed off away out of the cafeteria, glaring at Mimi Mala had asked her in a serious voice.
"Why did you do that to her?!"
"Because she's a freak! Her father's a murderer! She's probably gonna have her dad kill you next before ya even know it!"
Not even wanting to hear anymore of those rumors again, Mala decided to leave before Mimi could say anything to her again. She decided to look around for Song, worried about her safety since she was known for actually running out of the school sometimes like an escape artist. But she was surprised to hear whimpering in the janitor's closet. When she looked she was shocked to see Song with her knees hiding her face as sh hugged them close to her chest. Her hair and clothes soaked from the milk Mimi had dumped on her.
"...Go away." Song says, but her voice sounded weak and broken, which made Mala at the sound, she didn't like it, she never heard Song sound like that before and it honestly scared her to bits. But her body moved on it's own and steps closer towards her until she knelt down in front of Song.
"You okay?"
"Do I look okay to you?"
"... Sorry, shouldn't have asked that... But to be honest, this really isn't really like you. Normally you would brush off whatever people say to you. Especially Mimi..."
"... Sometimes I do it just because I don't want them to see how weak I am. I hate crying in front of people like a baby. And like Hell I'm gonna cry like one in front of everyone else in that cafeteria. Besides, I'm used to Mimi being ass with me ever since I first came to this school."
"... Here, let me get that for-"
A loud smack echoed the room, and Mala yelped holding her hand when Song smacked it, she looked at her with a threatening stare, her eye wide and looking at her with a crazy look, but Mala knew Song long enough to know that she was only making that expression just to make her stay away.
"Don't touch me!"
"Okay, I won't." Mala says in a gentle tone, looking at Song with a regretful smile. "Sorry... I forgot you don't like it when someone tries to touch your head... Here." She says, moving her pink handkerchief towards Song where it was reachable for the purplnette to grab. "I know this isn't much but it should be able to dry your face off at least."
At this Song moved her hand and used it to wipe her face off, sniffling slightly as she wipes away the tears from her eye aggressively before she hands the soft object back to Mala. Who placed it back in her pocket despite it being dirty and damp.
"... You good now?"
"... Not really."
"... Hey, it's okay to cry you know. Keeping those bottled up isn't really healthy for ya."
"... I just hate it when people see me cry."
"I'm not gonna make fun of you for it if you think that's gonna be the case."
"No it's not. It's just... It makes me feel weak. I don't wanna be weak."
"... Even if its the case. I'm not gonna say a word about it. Not a peep. And I won't even tell Principal Rex if that makes you feel better."
".... Still, I don't-"
"I know it's hard to let it out, but I think it would be good for you. Espechally for me." Mala suddenly says cutting Song off with a smile. "We're friends right? Friends should trust each other. And they need a shoulder to cry on too, right?"
Song looked up wide eyed, and stared at Mala quietly as she took in her expression.
Song could see Mala stare at her with a huge grin on her face, it was soft, gentle and kind. Her hair long and straight. The color of hair a warm pink color. Her blue eyes that Song always seem to end up seeing for most of her days now made her realize they were the same color as the sky. On the side of her Song could see that Mala had taken of her red top hat with a white bow staying on the ground. Song never seen Mala take it off her head before, but that wasn't what really shocked her.
A steam punk vest in a salmon color with a pastel pink long sleeve shirt with ruffled wrist cuffs and pink vertical pinstripes, along with her salmon colored burlap skirt that goes to her knees, white stockings, and brown boots with a bunch of gold buckles on them.
The soft, serious look in Mala's eyes instantly turned into concern as she looked at Song's pure white eye. "What? Did I say something wrong again?"
"Did you mean it?" Song asks, suddenly ignoring Mala's first question.
"Mean what?"
"That... You think of us as friends?"
"... Are we not? I mean.. Of course we are! To me we are at least but-"
"But why? Why be friends with me? If you stick with me people will probably make fun of you or even worse... They might as well make your life here completely miserable."
"Aren't they already doing that to you? To be honest I think it's fine if they treat me like that... Because if that what it means to be friends with you then that's fine by me." Mala's face color face smiles more as she gets up, and holds out a hand towards Song, who blinks as she stared at it before looking up at Mala with tears she thought she'd never shed in front of anyone else again. "Come on, lets get ya over to the principal's office. We should really explain to him what had happened here today in the cafeteria. He'll probably know what to do with Mimi."
For a moment, Song couldn't help but stare in disbelief at what was in front of her right now. The light behind Mala made it seem like she was glowing. Slowly, Song reached out a hand towards Mala's with one thought in her mind.
'Mom... I actually made friends with someone... Are you happy?'
Eventually over time, Song finally starts to open up, and gets used to Mala holding her hand and unexpectedly hugging her all the time. Song doesn't still lose her sass, but it wasn't as rude or cold as it was before. It was somewhat joking and more of a teasing slight way, but it would get like that if she was in a really bad mode or if she got really tired after working for such a long period of class if her mind just felt like shutting off to sleep.
One day, Mala showed her to the cafe she and her mother own and worked at together. It just so happened that, shockingly enough to Song and Mala, that Kotone Frina knew Song's mother as a long time friend from high school.
"You... Know my mom?" Song asks wide eyed at Kotone who nods her head, looking very teary eyed and couldn't help herself but hug Song tightly.
"When I heard that Amelia died... I thought that he had killed both you and your sister."
At this point, Song wasn't sure if Mala meeting her was fate, she didn't know fate could even exist at all, but Mala said to her that she believed. Her mother told her one time that fate does work in mysterious ways, so maybe, just maybe... She might as well consider this fate as well.
Eventually Song deicided to work in the cafe as well after Kotone had heard that she didn't really have much money thanks to her father who always seems to drink and give her dry bread almost every night for dinner and just throw a bottle of warm water at her face. Since then every night, Mala would come at twelve just to grab Song from her house to take her to the cafe so she could get some proper food to eat. The first time she did, Song thought that she was crazy and was really scared that her father would come to get her at any moment.
But after a minute of arguing, Song heard her stomach growl at the thought of the tasty food and decided to follow Mala to the cafe to get something to eat.
The money that Kotone gives her was actually the reason why Song now had better clothes that she could wear that fit her rather than normally tight and slightly dirty clothes she would have to find and clean by hand. Since Song wasn't that experienced with technology because of her father keeping her mostly indoors, Mala and Kotone do the best she can in teaching her, and Mala even managed to buy her a phone as well and made sure that everything was set up right as well much to Song's dismay since she wanted to try and buy a phone herself and honestly felt a little bad that Mala would buy her one.
"Hey, you deserve to have a phone on hand. Besides how am I gonna chat with ya in the night to make sure your alright?"
And at that Song's complaints when quiet at the second part of Mala's sentence when she had the concern and worry tone.
Everyday Song always stayed by Mala's side, and in return Mala stayed by Song's side. The two were piratically inseparable like sisters, but they were just very close friends that like to stay by each other's sides to support one another no matter what.
However... One night, at the day before the new year started, Song's fears have came alive again.
Song wanted to talk with Mala far in a meeting spot. Right behind the cafe, the two of them staying side by side as they chat with one another talking about random things, until Song suddenly brought up a topic that came to mind.
"Hey Mala... When I graduate from high school... Do you think my dad will kick me out?"
"If he does kick ya out then you can just stay with me and mom. The cafe is piratically your home now too. I mean... We have a separate house to it that's piratically your room now too."
"But I don't wanna be a burden... You and Kotone have done so much for me already."
"You aren't a burden Song and you'll never be one. Honestly, I really should knock some sense into your head not to be so negative about yourself..." Mala says then grins before sitting up and then looks at the night sky, stars twinkling and shining brightly. ".... Hey, how about this," She says, looking over at Song who blinks and looks back at Mala as she decided to move and rest her head in her lap to use as a pillow, which is what she usually does whenever they are in Song's favorite spot behind her family's house in a area where her mother had taken her and her sister as a child, which was a get away spot where not even her father knows about.
"How about when we end up getting enough money, we leave and move to London!"
"London? Are you serious?"
"Yeah! London is a really cool place right? Not only that the city is really big too, there are big fields and I heard they have good merch there as well for Herrison Porter! Like a chocolate lizard keychain! Those are really hard to find here in Japan and I always wanted to buy one!"
"Pfft, I honestly feel like that's the only reason why you wanna move there."
"Oh come on! I'm serious here!" Mala says while Song snickers at the sight of the older girl pouting at her.
"But really, in all honesty... I really wanna have you come to London with us if you really can leave your father. And when you do, we can go to London and live there together and find a place to open up the cafe at, with you me, and mom. All three of us together." Mala says with a huge grin on her face. "There are a lot of places in London I wanna see there. It's piratically a small dream I have."
Song stared at Mala's face then goes quiet for a while before moving to sit up and sighs softly, making Mala look over at her in concern as she spoke. "I don't know... Will I really be able to fit in there?"
"Of course you will!" Mala says getting up to her feet and moves to get in front of Song with a smile. "You'll have a lot of fun if you stay with me by my side! You trust me with this, right?"
Song goes quiet, thinking for a moment before imagning it, her life in London having fun with Mala, going around site seeing in London, looking at large buildings, going through the libraries to read books one another, look at video games, watch movies and eat amazing food there while serving some at the cafe with Kotone.
To Song... It actually felt like a dream she wanted to. So she opens her eye and moves to grab Mala's hand.
But all of a sudden, Mala let out a scream. Song's eyes going wide as gun shots echoed in her ears as they ring loudly. In seconds she sees Mala on the ground, her knees completely bleeding where she sat unable to move. Before Song could move she suddenly felt something sharp hit her neck like a needle, pulling it out she saw that it was a dart full of anesthesia, causing her to feel her vision become blurry, but she fights it as she quickly moves and turns her head in fear to see men in black coats wearing masks. With her vision too blurry Song couldn't tell who the men were and what they look like, but she knows they were wearing mask, they had to be since they obviously didn't want them to know who they.
"Take her. Leave that other one behind." The leader who shot Mala said, and nothing more as the group move.
"N-No! Leave her alone!" Song shouts, with her body moving slugishly she moved and knocked down the one that held the gun, punching him hard in the face, causing him to cry out, when she felt one grab her by the shoulders she quickly used her leg and kicked him in the shin as hard as she could, causing him to cry out. She pushed him away and quickly moved and held Mala close.
"S-Song..." The purplnette could barely understand her words, the drug seeping into her as she was feeling her conciousness fading but Song was doing her best to fight it back. "You... Run..."
"I'm not leaving!" Song shouts, not realizing she was crying, gasping as Mala was suddenly replaced by her mother's dead body.
At this sight Song was distracted and was suddenly kicked hard in the head, causing her to get knocked away from Mala and felt her stomach get kicked, causing her to gasp and cough in pain.
"NO! LEAVE HER ALONE!!! LET ME GO!!!" Song could hear Mala scream, she weakly turns her head as blood formed on the side of her head as dark dots appeared.
The last thing she sees was Mala's voice call her name, suddenly sounding far away as she falls into unconsciousness.
When Song woke up, all that she could find was blood, and the sight of Mala's top hat, leaving her heart to shatter and her dream she thought she could reach for disappear and fade right before she could grasp it.
"... Why?"
Moving out weakly to hug the hat close to her chest, tears stream down her Song's cheek as she cried without sobbing or letting out breath. Her heart beating wildly against her chest as she spoke in a broken voice as her heart continues to shatter in pieces like it did when she first saw her Mom and Sister lying in the living room floor covered in their blood.
"Why... Couldn't it be me...? Why didn't they take me...? What did Mala do...? W-Where did they take her...? M-Mala... W-Where are you...?"
A few hours later, Song had ran back to the cafe, crying into Kotone's arms who cried as well, calling the police and sending Song to the hospital straight away to get her checked out and get the drug system out of her body quickly.
A day, she was released and Song was back to how she used to be. Her walls guarded up even more than before, she usually goes to cafe but she could barely look at Kotone in the eye now. Feeling like it was her fault for Mala's disappearance despite the kind women saying that she had no fault in that horrible situation. This hadn't change for the year she remained by herself, with dark thoughts always on her mind of self blame as her belief of harming others lived on within her. Hatred of herself growing and growing as she lived on.
Just as she fell asleep at the beginning of the new year, she had waken up in what looks like a large courtroom, wearing new clothes and staring at seven people who look back at her. The one in the red uniform spoke with a jolly looking smile on his face.
"Welcome to the Devildom, Song."
