Promises...

Isn't the world a beautiful place?

...

A place filled with people, love, life, and laughter.

Isn't life about being happy and succeeding in reaching all of your goals?

For some people, this is not the case. Let's picture the reality of the world we live in honestly;

...

Isn't the world a ghastly place?

Where around the corner there is one crude judgment after another?

Isn't life about reaching other people's goals instead of your own?

I guess for some people life isn't what it seems to be

and in some cases a huge disappointment.

... Okay

What can I say, life's a bitch.

......

As she looks out of her small window to the view of the shimmering full moon eloping over her little village she can't help but whisper "why couldn't it have been me?"

She silently whimpers into the worn fabric of her mother's musty green woolen jumper, her scent still slightly lingers. Her bright blue eyes crystal over, and in its place are a set of dark empty eyes and burning salty tears. A shell with no soul, no emotion. All she had now was her brother.

Suddenly the door creaks open and a shabby slightly handsome guy with the same worn bright blue eyes looks over at her from a distance. He can't help but feel shame, disappointment. He couldn't help but feel like what he's doing is not enough, he felt like a let-down. But he cannot change the past now, can he?

He walks over to her and wraps her in his strong comforting embrace without saying a word. They didn't need to speak to know what was going through their heads.

"moping around won't bring them back Alex" he whispers muffling into her soft silky blonde hair.

" I know, but what can we do. I-ii don't think I can do this any longer matt"

She squeaks subconsciously.

"well, your gonna have to try, if not for me if not for them..."

"promise me, Alex, please?"

He slightly begs.

"Okay, I'll try..."

He sighs in relief.

"good. I need to go now, will you be okay?"

He worries.

She doesn't reply but silently nods at him looking away.

"okay Alexis, I'll be back soon I promise"

She just looks out the window until he eventually sighed and left.

She hated it when people promise things, promises are like empty lies.

She starts to laugh awkwardly.

"I promise" we're the last words that came out of her parent's mouths. But how can somebody promise something when they know nothing of the future?

...

Positive thinking is what gets you killed, and every time you get your hopes up you get let down. And every time you get let down it breaks you more until there is eventually nothing more to break. Promises always mess with a person's heart and that's why she doesn't believe in them. Broken promises kill you inside and out, especially when they greatly impact your life. Her parents pretty much lied... For they never returned...
