Woven threads twisted around like a web as soon as her very first breath on Earth. The Fates had wronged her with the life she lives now— an orphan who saw her other half, her twin sister, in an attempt to desperately grasp at a life that was no longer there. She saw her, and many others, that no one else could see, and that is what separates her from the others in Camp Half-Blood.

Secrets have always been apart of Astoria, even as she was a mere child, before her innocence was stolen, before her twin died, before her grandmother went mad— before her father thought she was one of the monsters she ran and hid from. There are skeletons in the closet in Astoria's mortal bloodline, skeletons Isaiah Cross wants to keep in the closet, hidden, out of sight. When Astoria unintentionally threatened to expose those secrets after her grandmother's descent into madness, he knew what he had to do— put his last living child into Greenshaw Behavioral Health Clinic and forget she ever existed.

Astoria had stopped being a child long before she ever got to Camp Half-Blood, before Greenshaw, even. She's formed into a weapon, one for gods to wield and use them as they like, fighting their own battles with children. It's the only life she's ever known, always the pawn in someone else's mess. And eventually, she will be the next in line to fall.
