Love: A Razor

He said he loved her, but never showed her light,

A mirage in the desert, a promise without sight.
He claimed to see the world in her, but it was a lie,
A flower left to wither, a heart that's dry.

Love was a razor, cutting deep with every strike,
A venom that poisoned her soul, a toxic elixir that made her heart go dry.
A storm raged inside, a tempest that left her shattered and cold,
A cage that trapped her in a life she didn't choose, a heavy chain that bound her to a fate she couldn't refuse.

She grew up knowing all of it, with blank eyes and a face pale as stone,
Void of emotions, a heart frozen in a loveless winter, forever alone.
She learned to live with no mistakes, a robot in a human's mold,
A puppet on strings, with a heart that's grown old and grey as the wings.

Married off to a man who claimed to love her with all his might,
A master who held her tight, a slave to his every command, day and night.
She knew the love, and how it was, a never-ending, toxic fight,
A war that left her scarred and blind, with no end in sight.

She knew she had to obey, or face the sword that hung above her head,
A constant threat, a danger zone,
where mistakes were not allowed, and love was dead.
And yet he said he loved her, but it was all a disguise,
A mask that hid his true face, a façade that concealed his lies.

She was a living corpse, with no emotions to share,
A ghost that haunted her own life, with no one to care.
He loved a body without soul, a heart that's lost its fire,
A flame that's burned out, a shadow of a life, a mere outline, a heart that's lost its desire.

Yet he claimed to love her, when he couldn't see her demise,
A shipwreck that sank to the bottom of the sea, with no survivors, no goodbyes.
He couldn't see that she was dead, with a heart that's compromised,
A heart that's lost its way, a soul that's gone astray, with no escape, no paradise.
