Now What?

When she finally arrived in Atlanta it was pitch black outside and there was no moon out. Everyone that was staying had rides waiting on them and she was quickly deserted, except for the ticket seller and the gift shop lady. It was the kind of thing nightmares are made of.
She hadn't really thought about where she'd go once she got here. With the long bus ride it should've crossed her mind, especially since she'd had time to look on her phone. She didn't want anyone to know she was standing around alone so she went to the bathroom. She locked herself in a stall and stared at her phone trying to decide what to do. Then, lightbulb.

Atlanta had a subway/train type deal called Marta that went all over the city, her friend Bethany had told her a tale one time about her and her friends riding on it. If you were careful enough, you could get on without a ticket with relatively no problem. You were supposed to scan your ticket then a gate opened and you hurried through to the train thing. But, if your were quick, a bit sneaky, and had a little bit of luck all you had to do was pretend to scan a ticket and quickly follow the other person through the gate. Once you were on you could basically ride it forever, each ticket was for one trip it didn't matter how long the trip was.
Lily decided this might be a good place to start. They'd probably have maps of the city at  each station and according to her friend there were pretty much stations every where. It would definitely beat walking. Now all she had to do was find one.
She didn't really want to talk to the ticket lady because she actually seemed kinda creepy but she didn't really have a choice. So she slowly shuffled her way up to the ticket booth.

“Um, hi. I was wondering where the nearest Marta station is?” she rushed out before she could loose her nerve.
After a minute the woman pulled her eyes away from the book she was reading, it had taken her long enough Lily had started to think she wasn't gonna answer.
    “What'd you say dear?”
"Uh, do you know how far the nearest marta station is?" She asked again.
"That rack over there has some pamphlets with stuff like that on it," the woman answered with a bored point of her finger.
" Oh, thanks," she shyly responded, then headed over to them as the woman returned to her book with a nod.

She quickly scanned the rack, there were lots to chose from. There were ones for hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, parks, city maps, and there it was marta stations. She grabbed several that she thought she would need and stuffed all but the one for the marta into her bag. Lily opened the pamphlet and which revealed a map with marta stations marked on it with little green buses. Now she knew where the nearest one was and how to get there, but she had no idea how far it might actually be. Well only one way to find out.
She left the bus station hoping no one would notice her and the fact that she didn't have a ride. Honestly she wasn't that odd, people came to the city by bus all the time and half of them didn't have a ride once they arrived, but she didn't know that. She glanced around at her surrounding and then back down at her little map. Well apparently she had to walk down this kinda desolate paved road that seemed a little sketchy. There were only a couple of houses and the street lights were widely spaced, at least it had street lights though. She definitely couldn't see the marta station from here, but she could see the city lights and what might have been a gas station a little ways from her.

Lily adjusted her pack, gritted her teeth, and started walking. She really wanted to listen to music but she needed to be able to hear any approaching cars. She had decided if a car came she would hide in the trees that went far from the road, but she could only do that discretely if she left the road before the headlights hit her. So the only thing she could do was trudge on in boredom with only the crunch of gravel and the sounds of the night to accompany her.
Five trips to the woods and half a mile later she made it to the gas station. She walked inside and asked the guy behind the counter how far the marta station was, he informed her she had at least another mile to go. So she went outside and sat on the curb to take a short break and drink a little water. She sat there for about thirty minutes then headed back out to the road and continued her long, long, walk.

About fifteen minutes after passing the gas station, the trees thinned out along the side of the road and a side walk appeared. There were also several more houses and stores. Hopefully that deceased the chances of her getting mugged or kidnapped or something.
Another twenty minutes and she could finally see the Marta station, but once she got inside she realized there weren't many people getting on them at night, or at least not this one. So now she would have to either pay for a ticket or wait on someone to come along. She was pretty tired so she decided to just pay for a ticket. She walked over to a machine and punched a couple keys and payed three dollars and fifty cents for her ticket, which wasn't that much but would get pricey if she used this often.
She quickly boreded the subway and curled up on the seat with her book bag as a pillow. She spotted a camera pointed her way, which gave her a slight sense of safety, right before she closed her eyes.
