The weather had cleared up over the week, the sun had finally reared its head, wisps of cloud lazily drifted across the sky. Carlos was laying on his stomach, hand under his chin as he scrawled across another piece of parchment.
Over the last couple of days they had not had a safe opportunity to visit the restricted section of the library again. Despite this, they had not paused their effort of researching. Between the two of them (Lewis didn’t want anything to do with the physical part of their sketchy dealings, instead creating possible escape routes for every possible scenario they could run into whilst sneaking about. Charles, they had decided, couldn’t be trusted to keep his mouth shut; the last thing they needed was half the school knowing what they were up to), they had raided the library and inconspicuously questioned every professor possible.
Carlos had finally come across something that may be useful for them and was painstakingly translating it for Lando, until he was interrupted.
“Sainz.”
He looked up, rolling his eyes when he saw who it was. “Piastri. What do you want, mi amigo ?” They were certainly not friends, they had fought many times during their time at Hogwarts both in lessons, on the Quidditch pitch and off the grounds. However, Carlos had noticed Oscar had started to become friendlier, if he could call it that. He reckoned it had something to do with Lando, he had probably grown more than fed up over his friends arguing all the time.
“Lando asked me to tell you to meet him in the Great Hall as soon as possible. Wouldn’t tell me why, but that it was urgent,” Oscar shrugged, expression indifferent, hands stuffed in his trouser pockets.
“Bieno, gracias.” He stayed put, returning to his notes, waiting for the Hufflepuff to leave, sighing when the shadow never left.
“I said okay, mate. You can go now.”
“Did you miss the part where I said it’s ‘urgent’?”
“I'm aware of what Lando needs me for and in the next half an hour or so I'll go find him. Did you forget the part where you said ‘as soon as possible’? Right now is not possible, he'll understand,” Carlos dipped his quill into his ink.
“You're so arrogant, I don't know what everyone sees in you, I really don't.” Oscar shook his head and walked away, most likely to go off and rant to Logan over how much he hates him; Carlos didn't care.
True to his word, he came to the Grand Hall to find Lando surrounded by books, multiple people including the professors narrowing their eyes at them in suspicion. They were known for the trouble they caused around the ancient school, granted, but they actually did study. Occasionally. Lando looked up when he heard the approaching footsteps.
“Finally mate, where’ve you been? I think I've had some sort of breakthrough. I asked Oscar to go find you, I'm assuming he did.”
“You could say that. I also had a- what did you call it… breakthrough? Sí. I need to translate it for you though otherwise I would have been here earlier. I told Piastri you'd understand but he got rather annoyed with me when I sent him away.” He shrugged, taking a seat at the bench opposite.
“I- right, I'll speak to him I guess? But anyway, basically I managed to get a small bit of info out of Professor Jenson. He doesn't believe a word, but he did say that the chamber entrance is said to appear once every full moon.”
“Sí, that makes sense. I asked Nando if he knew anything and he sent me on my way with a permission slip to the restricted section, which I went to. He said if I had any questions don't come to him and that he doesn't want anything more to do with it, but yeah.” Carlos grinned, as he rummaged around for his handwritten notes.
“Didn't I say your friendship with Professor Alonso would come in handy. He loves you, must be the Español blood. Why don't I have that with the others?”
Lando skimmed across the notes. “Wow mate, I feel guilty. I do need to start learning languages. So if this is all real, which I shall continue to assume it is, we now have a few more clues to go off of.”
“It is progress, Sí. But we still don't know where it is."
"Yeah, that is a problem."
