Chapter 44

"Are we in trouble Kevin?" Ricky asked turning to Kevin "No, we didn't do anything wrong." Kevin told him as he looked away. "Do you think Joaquin is actually gone?" Ricky asked tilting his head. "I guess it's what you believe Ricky." Kevin put his hands in his pockets as he looked down.

"I miss him too Kevin." Ricky broke the silence "he's gone now, we have to move on, we have to forget about him. He wouldn't want us to be upset about his death."

"But there's no rule that says we have to forget about him and we shouldn't bottle up emotions either." Ricky frowned "what was your favorite memory of him?" Kevin asked the other boy.

Ricky laughed "after he returned home one night he took me to Pop's and we got milkshakes then he introduced me to everyone in the Serpents. Even if we didn't have the same views I still loved him. He was my brother after all. What was your favorite memory of him" Ricky asked the taller boy.

"When I had first met him. I went out to the drive in to see some movie with Veronica and Cheryl and Joaquin caught my eye. He was with his group sitting on a motorcycle. I got up to refill my popcorn and next thing I new I was dragged by the collar of my shirt and pushed into the gate. Our eyes had met. I saw his sky blue eyes looking into my darker blue eyes. He told me his name waa Joaquin and just like that lust and feeling we made out. Shortly after he grabbed my phone and gave me his number." Kevin smiled blurry eyed at the memory.

"It sounds like you loved him" Ricky responded "I do- I did." Kevin shook his head muttering under his breath "stupid tears" he sniffled wiping fiercely at them. "He loved you too Kevin. He really did, he wanted to keep you safe and got his life taken instead." Kevin sniffled nodding "Ricky?" He questioned. "Yeah?" Ricky asked "do you want to go visit him?" Kevin offered. Ricky nodded taking Kevin's hand as the two walked in the direction of the farm.
