Chapter 18

Betty walked into the deep oak wood forest she looked at her empty surroundings. Trees littered through out the forest. As she walked fallen twigs from tree branches crunched softly under her feet. "Ricky" she called out her voice kind and caring as she searched for the small boy. She stopped in front of the 'abondon house or whatever it was' she though. She stepped quietly to the entrance of the shelter. "Ricky, can we talk" she called out softly. When she heard no response she walked slowly into the shelter. "Ricky, come out please" Betty called out.  "I'm not coming out you'll take me back to foster care." Ricky shouted but his voice cracked as he talked.

"Ricky, please come out. I won't take you back to foster care I promise." Betty told him as she walked slowly towards his voice.

"That's what Archie said then he called them. I don't want to go back." Ricky pleaded his voice shaking from fear. "I won't let them take you Ricky just come out of the dark and lets talk."

"You'll take me back I won't risk it" Ricky refused. "I won't I promise. Listen," Betty grabbed a chair that was laying out, she sat down. "I was sent to the sisters of quiet mercy I told myself I didn't belong there. I kept trying to escape but I was being held back from doing so. I understand how badly you just want to get away. You probably feel like you are being imprisoned with all these people after you and you feel like you have no way out. I truly do understand that Ricky. But everyone misses you. Joaquin, gosh he's your brother. Probably all you think you have left. Shouldn't you have a bond with him rather than separate yourself from him. You have Jughead, me, Veronica, Cheryl, Toni, Sweet Pea, why go after someone new when you already have so many people that want you to come back. Why change for one person who doesn't even know what he's talking about. I'm not saying you have to come home, but just think about it Ricky. If not for you think about the friends you have consider them family." Betty slowly got up and began to grab her things to leave.

"Wait. Betty? Is it true? Do they all really miss me?" Ricky asked showing himself as he walked out of the darkness. "They do Ricky. They haven't seen you in years." Betty responded biting her bottom lip nervous about what Ricky's reaction.

"Can I... see them again?" He asked his eyes meeting Betty's blue ones. "Of course you can Ricky" Betty smiled lightly.
