Chapter 60

Despite various POVs, the events will be taking place simultaneously.

Eveleen

"Hello pet," his voice made my skin shiver. It sounded like Deimos but I knew in my heart it wasn't. I felt his hand trail against my shoulder and I whimpered. When I turned and our eyes met, I felt my heart break. He looked exactly like him. Even the tattoo on his chest was real. Then again, it was his body, just not his soul. No, the soul before me was dark, perverse, and I'd be damned if I let him hurt me or my family ever again.

Gabriel

I was just as shocked as little wolf when Odin insisted my son come with me on this trip. The air felt stale as we appeared next to the same cells Loki and I had been held in for years.

I must have shivered because Michael put his hand on my shoulder and asked, "Dad, you okay?"

I looked into his eyes and nodded, "Yeah, I'm good, son. Just a bad memory."

"Yeah, I can only imagine," he muttered, looking around the room. "What the fuck is that?" he asked, pointing to a black mass on the ground.

"If I had to guess, I'd say that's Erebus or at least his shell. Don't get too close," I told him as we began to follow North. It was as if he could sense Brandon and he moved with purpose as we stayed on high alert.

"Well, my my my, look what the cat dragged in," Kaylie's voice came from the darkness, "Or should I say, look what the cat will be dragging out." Her psychotic laughter was drowned out by a fierce roar as a large creature emerged from the shadows, its eyes trained on us. Kaylie came forward following it, her hand stroking its fur. "Meet my son, boys. Maybe he can have a playdate with yours, Gabe," she snorted.

"Keep that thing away from him unless you want to clean its guts off the walls, bitch," I growled back.

Found him, I heard North say. He's safe. Can you draw that thing so I can get close to her?

Got it. I straightened up. "I think you've missed a few memos, Kaylie. You're on the losing team. Fuck, Sean already killed Sang, and you, well you are just a bitter soulless harpy now. Oh, and your kid smells like fucking kitty litter."

She screamed as the creature roared and lunged. Everything moved so quickly. I felt a heavy weight on my chest as the thing pounced and blasted it back, then I heard Kaylie screaming no and a horrible snapping sound followed by Michael's scream and gurgling sounds.

"Gabe!" I heard Brandon scream and looked to see him cradling my son's bloody body in his arms. North stared, Kaylie's head and spine in his hands, and then we both raced toward them.

"Michael, please, fuck, son answer me!" I screamed as his eyes seemed to be fixed on a distant spot. "No, no, no, you can't. Odin!" I threw my head back and roared, the walls shaking.

"It is time, son of the Aesir," a woman's voice spoke. I looked up to see two tall women with golden wings standing before us. One knelt down to Michael. "He does not suffer, son of Odin."

"Don't touch my fucking son," I shouted, cradling him closer. "You can't take him."

"This is his destiny, Gabriel," one of them said. She reached out and gripped his wrist as the other woman did and suddenly all three of them were bathed in a golden light and Michael sucked in a sharp breath.

"Fuck that hurt," he swore, then "Woah," he muttered as he looked between the two women. "Wait, you're my...I'm your..."

"Soulmates," the two women said at the exact same time.

North and Brandon snickered. I glared at them and North shrugged, "Apparently, near-death experiences and mating run in the family, Gabe. Look at it this way, you can soften the blow of telling Queen he got hurt by introducing her to his two mates."

I groaned, "She's going to fucking kill both of us you know." I looked at Michael who blanched for only a moment, then again became lost in the gazes of his two mates. We stood to our feet, "Well, welcome to the family, um..."

"Hrist," the taller one answered.

"Mist," the second one said.

I rubbed my neck thinking I was going to kick Odin's ass when he suddenly appeared. "Ahh, good, I missed the screaming part." I shot him a glare. "You know I couldn't tell you. Hell, Morpheus all but spelled it out for you at Owen's coronation, Gabe." He slapped Michael on the shoulder, "Welcome to the family, son!" Michael chuckled and then his eyes widened when Odin placed a golden apple in his hands.

"Wait, for me? But I'm not," he started to say.

"Your father didn't think he was either. How about you trust your grandpa on this one? Eat the apple and then go have a bit of alone time with your Valkyries, boy. I have it on good authority that the side effects are rather, um, interesting." Odin's cheeks flushed red as he snickered.

"Dad?" Michael asked me hesitantly.

I rolled my eyes and pulled him into a hug. "Go, do what new soulmates do, just come home soon so your mother doesn't worry too much, okay?"

"Sure thing, Dad," he laughed, then pulled back and bit the apple. When he'd finished it, a golden glow again settled over him. He laughed and took the girls' hands before winking at me and vanishing.

"You know they aren't coming back any time soon, right?" Odin smirked.

I rolled my eyes, "You're starting to sound way too much like Loki, old man," I teased him. "We need to get back and make sure Eveleen is safe. Do we know anything about Deimos?"

"Morpheus showed up just before I snapped back. Is she really pregnant with his kid?" Brandon asked.

All our expressions fell, "Yeah. This isn't going to be easy for her. She's going to need all of us," I said.

Author's Notes:  Hmmm... Gabriel's son is also a god...

Okay, so the next chapter is also happening at the same time as this one.  Only a handful of chapters left, my lovelies!
