Chapter 32
Victor
"You need to explain what happened to you as well, Victor," Typhon said, giving me a supportive look.
Jewel gripped my hand and squeezed gently. She had already seen my transformation when our bond reformed and she still loved and accepted me. I took a deep breath and began.
"When Typhon and Gaia managed to locate the pocket dimension and free me, there was a price. I too had to enter the Void and accept my new destiny." I lifted her hand and kissed it. "It seems the fates decided there weren't quite enough titans in the world and added my name to the roster. The sons she carries will also be dark gods. However, what I think Typhon is most concerned about is he wants you to be aware that both Eveleen and I possess shadow magic now as will my son. Erebus infected her while in captivity, and that is one of the reasons the Void imbued me with the same magic. She needs someone who will understand and share her new powers."
Her eyes glistened with tears as she leaned against my arm. I saw a mischievous smirk lift at the corner of her mouth. Does that mean I can tie you up with shadows, mo dhragún? She batted her eyelashes innocently.
Naughty little Jewel, I growled, Just remember I can restrain you as well.
Looking forward to it, love. I about choked on my thoughts. I really wanted to drag her away right now and fuck her until her voice stopped working.
"Okay, so you're both gods, now what?" Nyx asked. "What of the others?"
"Where's North?" Jewel asked quickly standing. "I need to see him now."
"Eveleen, it hasn't been long enough," Nyx tried to explain. "He's not strong enough, yet."
"I want to see my husband now!" she roared as the ground shook. Shadows swirled around her and I quickly pulled her into my arms.
"Jewel, calm down. You're still new to your powers, love. Now focus for me," I said in her ear as the others looked on with concern. "If you want to see him, you only need to focus and bring him here."
She closed her eyes, her body relaxing against mine, and whispered, "North, mo chosantóir." A clear glass-like coffin appeared beside her that made me think of Snow White, and she smiled softly. His body was in vampire form, but it looked drawn, almost mummified. Sensing her concern, I pushed my strength and control at her. Taking a deep breath, she ran her hand over the glass as it vanished.
"Eveleen, don't!" Nyx warned, but Jewel ignored her and ran a nail down her own arm, then held the bleeding wound over North's face, allowing the droplets to cover his face and lips first, then she pushed her magic into his heart, pushing away the toxic blood.
"Drink my love, drink deep," she said as she pressed her arm to his mouth. Like something out of a horror movie, his hands gripped her arm and he drank greedily as she swayed slightly. When I sensed her becoming weak, I pulled her away and gave him my arm instead. His body responded quickly and soon his eyes were open and locked on her.
"Queen," he rasped.
"Hello, mo chosantóir, I've missed you," she cried, helping him sit up.
He placed a hand on her stomach and grinned, then ran his hand over her hair, "What have I missed, I mean obviously a lot." We all chuckled slightly, but then she frowned and wrapped her arms around him.
"They're all gone - captured, North. Deimos and Erebus took them all, but we're going to get them back, I promise." He let out a ragged breath and nodded as he clung to her.
Eveleen
Jace had gotten more blood for North as we continued to discuss what we knew and how best to move forward.
"Well, you can't go battle them right now, Queen. You have two sons to think of," North grouched.
"You're awake less than four hours and already getting bossy," Victor laughed. "That might be a new record, North." He glowered at him.
"If we go about this correctly, the fighting won't be direct, mo chosantóir. First, we need to focus on finding the others. I think Owen will be the easiest since he and I have a bond still. Besides, his magic is far stronger than before," I explained. "And the longer I'm here, the stronger I can feel Loki and Gabriel's bonds as if they aren't broken."
"It's because they aren't, ástvinur," Loki's voice came from the end of the table. I immediately jumped up and ran into his arms. I sobbed as he held me tightly. "By the Norns, Eveleen, I have missed you so, my beloved," he cried against my cheek then kissed me deeply. He pulled back, gazing into my eyes, "Goddesshood looks good on you," he said with a smirk. My cheeks flushed.
"Little wolf," Gabriel whispered from behind Loki. He reached for me and I fell into his arms, finally feeling like my soul was beginning to reform. "Fuck, Eveleen," he moaned as he pressed his lips against my head. "Absolutely grounded," he muttered as he kissed me, our mouths hungry for one another.
"Ahem," Victor's voice came from behind me and Gabriel froze. His gaze lifted from mine to his as fresh tears sprang to his eyes. "Victor," his voice was shaky, "Is that really you?" I gently pushed m'anam toward him and they quickly embraced, lost in their own fiery exchange.
"Well at this rate, we're going to need soundproof rooms for them," Odin snorted, making Gabriel and Victor blush.
"Since when did you get so sassy old man," Loki taunted.
"Someone had to take up the slack while you were gone, trickster," Odin grinned. "Turns out I'm a natural."
"Oh good grief, don't get him started," Cailleach rolled her eyes. "I feel like I've been babysitting since you lot left." Phil just patted her hand and grinned.
"So where do we start?" I asked.
A shaft of flames erupted and there stood Morpheus. "You start with Owen, little star. Sang's anger toward him is becoming erratic."
"Sean?" Brigid asked.
"No m'lady, as I'm sure you've already been informed, Sean is taking a backseat these days. He was kind enough to allow me to use him as a vessel. I realize this is also not the form some are used to, but nonetheless, I am Morpheus."
Nyx eyed him cautiously, "Why does the God of Dreams need a human vessel? What else are you planning?"
"Ahh, Nyx, goddess of night and mother of vampires...your reputation precedes you as I'm assuming mine does as well. I bear your company no ill will, nor do I wish to see our newest goddess harmed. When the light bearer lost all hope, I simply offered my assistance. He was not obligated to accept, and as for the terms of our agreement, those stay between myself and Dr. Green." He turned toward me and held out his hand. I stepped forward, without hesitation and took it. He chuckled, "Yes, he said you would be fearless, little star. He also says you are rash, occasionally reckless, and stubborn to a fault."
Gabriel snorted, "Yep, that's her alright." I gave him a harsh glare, but he only chuckled.
Morpheus smiled and cupped my hands in his, "Do not fear, Eveleen. My powers will not harm you or your children. I need you to use your new gifts, to see beyond. Once you find Owen, you will need to break the tether Sang has placed upon him. His patron managed to pierce it the day you conceived, but it is not gone entirely yet."
The more he spoke, the more I felt drawn into his green eyes and everything else faded away. That's it, little star. Let your magic take you to him, Morpheus whispered in my mind as everything went black.
Sean
It was like being on the other side of a mirror as I watched my form hold her hands but listened to Morpheus guide her to the in-between. I was terrified I wasn't strong enough for what was to come next, but I had to try - not just for her, but for Owen.
Author's Notes: Hmmm...what to do with Sean...and Morpheus...
