Waking up

Author's note: I'm sorry people that I left ya hanging so please accept this mediocre chapter in Anthony's point of view.

"You didn't know?", Trey asked, shocked at this revelation.

"She was not present for class today?!", I repeated to myself, but Trey answered it anyway.

"Yeah dude. Maybe she's sick or something...Are you seriously telling me you did not notice your girlfriend was missing?"

"1. She's not my girlfriend." At least not yet, I muttered. "2. No. I obviously did not notice. Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"I don't see why you're making a big deal about this. People miss class all the time...", Trey trailed off seeing that I was about to speak again.

"Trey, I'm telling you that girl for the past few months she's been here has perfect attendance. She once told me nothing could prevent her from going to school and learning. Something must have happened for her not to come today.", I surmised.

Suddenly, a strange woman ran up to our group of friends and gasped out of breath when she finally stopped before the curb.

"Now...which...one...of...you...goes...by the name of Anthony?", the Southern-accented woman breathed out each word, clearly wheezing and not used to strenuous exercise.

"Who are you?", Trey inquired.

"Danica's godmother, Aunt Fleur. Do you know my godchild, Danica?", she squinted at Trey as if trying to sense something.

"He doesn't, but I do. I'm Anthony. Now, how I can help you Ms.?", I replied.

"So you're the one that the one I consider a daughter raves constantly about? She's right when she described you as tall, attractive and to the point when responding to inquiries."

"Your goddaughter...Danica talks about me?", my heart swelled when I heard that.

"Oh, I read her diary to see if she had any friends who would care enough about her. You were the person most mentioned out of all of them and she definitely...had plenty of things to say about you."

Trey raised his eyebrows at the lady.

"All Good things.", she answered. "I quote, 'He's the guy that I wish would be my boyfriend, but will never be more than a friend with.' After this is all over, I will have to have a talk with you, young man! She also said you're pretty brave and reliable and I need that right now."

"What happened to her?" I was now concerned for Danica. My elation at the fact she wanted to be his girlfriend had to take a back burner to the fact that her godmother, Aunt Fleur as she had called herself, had not come here to have a friendly chat. There was something a brewing and I was about to find out.

"DANICA'S BEEN TAKEN!", Aunt Fleur shrieked and then collapsed to the floor in sobs.

There were two responses from that duo at that moment. One yelled, "What?" and the other adolescent male asked, "How?"

"How was she kidnapped?", I inquired. My hands started to get sweaty and spots swirled in his eyes. My worry for her turned into frustration and became a determination to find her no matter what.

"Well...that's a long story...", Aunt Fleur began.

"The only way we'll find her is if we figure out who had motive to take her so please tell us.", he implored.

"Hmmm...The short of it is Danica's a princess, she was cursed as a baby, I casted a temporary illusion to make her visible, she debuted to the royals, the witch found out and now she's invisible again and in the midst of the chaos...we lost her.", she squeaked out the last bit.

"Her curse is invisibility?", Trey commented.

I digested the information and deliberated there was something missing.

"Have you tried looking for her in her favorite places?"

"I already checked all the usual places...even the places where she goes to cry that she will never be kissed...", Aunt Fleur lamented.

I thought, I better fix that when I see her again.

"Her mother...and father", she grunted, "are also distressed at this. They wanted me to find a champion to seek her out. Although, traditionally, the champion is a noble or prince, none of the candidates volunteered to fight a lady that might have a dragon and harnesses magic at the touch of her fingertips..."

"Well, my mother was princess of Lesotho. I guess that makes me a prince. I qualify, right?"

"Wait, you're the son of Princess Amelia!!!! And you've been in America this whole time!", she screamed and hugged him at the same time.

Guess I'm famous somewhere, I thought.

"Please help me find her. I'm worried sick, everyone who cares for her is heartbroken. With her being invisible again, it will be even harder to track her..."

"There's more than one way to track. I'll use my ears since I can't use my eyes.", I responded.

Trey finally spoke up.

"Wait, dude. You're a prince this whole time and you never told me! I thought we were bros!"

"I just found out this Saturday actually when my dad told me. I was about to tell you when, may I call you Aunt Fleur?"

"Yes dear.", she responded.

"...when she showed up and told us that Danica is gone. Now, tell me Aunt Fleur, who do you think could have taken Danica?"

"There are two options", she said.

"Its either the witch who cursed her or the fairy kingdom representatives...but I'm willing to bet they had nothing to do with it. They don't like to mess with curses a lot."

"What would the fairy kingdom have to do with...", I started and Aunt Fleur interrupted him, "She's currently arranged to be married to the fairy prince."

"FAIRIES EXIST?", Trey yelled as he placed his hands above his head.

"Trey, I know this all new and exciting, it is to me too, but could you be quiet for a bit...thanks."

"What do we now?", I asked.

"We make you a champion. Prince Anthony of Lesotho, you are henceforth our champion. From now on, you will help us find our precious Danica."

I kneeled and accepted her blessing.

Danica would be found.
