-PROLOGUE-
Third person's pov:
1966
"Ugh, I am so tired!" a small squeaky voice of a six year old was heard. The two adults chuckled at the little girl's antics "We just used a port key child, there is nothing that could have caused you that tiredness" spoke the beautiful woman, clad in a silver silk saree and gold jewellery. The girl dressed in a pretty pink dress huffed and rolled her eyes as she descended down her father's shoulders "I don't even understand why we had to come here, we were doing just fine back home". The tall man with a broad shoulders sighed while rubbing his beard "We have talked about this Samaira, we came here to broaden our influence in the wizarding world, besides staying here will give you exposure to more people like us, people who our pure- which would have been rather difficult back home as the number of purebloods who actually cared about their purity were decreasing" the man droned on and on about stuff that was too complicated for her little mind.
The girl, Samaira, only understood the part about purebloods since her whole family would constantly teach her about it, so without even trying to pretend that she was listening, the girl ran away looking around and peeking inside each room. The parents of the little girl, Sameer Kapoor and Shanaya Kapoor just sighed at their daughter's behaviour and decided to let her be for a while as they settled in their new mansion. Once everything was in place and organized, it was already nighttime. The family of three sat on the the dining table eating quietly when the little girl who had barely touched the food spoke up "I miss dadi and baba" she mumbled with small pout, making her parents sigh "We know sweety, but don't worry you'll get used to it and it's not like we won't visit them, we'll visit them during summer" Shanaya reassured her daughter with a small smile and caressed her cheek which did lift the girl's mood a bit.
"And if it makes you feel better, you won't be lonely at all as we have been invited by the Blacks to attend a ball they're hosting and through which we'll make our first public appearance" her father, Sameer said as he sipped wine "How does that concern me?" she asked, the man chuckled at her nonchalant behaviour "Well you will meet many children there, many of them would be your age so try and make friends with them" Samaira's eyes lit up at the thought of forging friendships with kids her age, back in India she only had three friends since they were the only real purebloods, the others were just traitors and dirty bloods in the playschool she used to attend. She smiled brightly, her previous depressed expression vanishing swiftly as she excitedly chattered about how happy she was to finally make a lot of friends.
The rest of the night was a blur and before Samaira knew, she being put in a fluffy yet elegant black dress and her hair was being detangled by the house elves. "I am so excited!" she squealed as the house elves smiled at the little girl "Sumi, Cristy I can't wait to make friends, I'll introduce you both to them too!" the girl continued talking to the elves who were getting her ready, that's when her mother walked in and gave her a disapproving and hard stare "I have told you so many times Samaira, do not talk to these elves as if they are your friends, their only purpose is to serve you nothing else" she scolded in a harsh tone which made Samaira pout and become all sad to which Shanaya paid no heed. "Come child, we have to leave before it's too late, we cannot be late for our first appearance in British society" the older woman ushered Samaira out who grumbled a little but walked out "Are you sure we have come to the right place mum? America would've been a better choice. The British had colonized us after all" the girl blabbered about what she had once overheard from a half blood in her playschool.
Shanaya huffed at her daughter's words, silently trying to decipher that how in the names of Gods did she have so much things in her small pea sized brain "Where ever you heard that- it doesn't matter to us, it was the stupid muggles who did it and in no ways were we harmed. So you don't have to worry about it" The mother and daughter duo walked down to the hall where Sameer was standing, waiting impatiently. "Finally you both are here! We cannot be late- we need to make connections with the families there so remember Samaira, you have to be polite to the elders ok? And make friends with their children" the girl nodded, determined to please her father. The three held hands and then apparated, the twisting in her stomach made her want to puke, she never like apparating. In a matter of seconds she stood in front of a dark and eerie looking building that made her skin crawl. "The house is....terrifying" the shook in her boots, her comment earned her a smack on the head and a glare from her mother "behave and do not say such things inside" she hissed "Okay mum" the girl mumbled.
The family knocked at the door and it wasn't a minute late before the door was opened by a man who looked a little older than her own father. He had his black hair slicked back and he smiled at he father "Sameer!" he exclaimed 'He has a weird accent' Samaira thought but kept her opinion to herself when she saw her father hugged Sameer who happily returned it "Orion! It's so good to see you again! Thank you for inviting us" he said and then with a smile introduced his wife and daughter "Meet my wife Shanaya and this little one is my daughter Samaira" Orion bowed his head to Shanaya and looked down at Samaira with a smile, which seemed a bit forced in her opinion. "Samaira dear, go upstairs and go to the third room in the right you'll find all the kids there" the girl looked at her mother for permission who nodded and then she happily rushed upstairs.
That day Samaira met people with whom she thought that she would spend her future years happily and cherish them forever....or so she hoped.
