The late autumn sunlight filtered through the tall windows of the Transfiguration classroom, casting a warm glow on the wooden desks and the collection of peculiar objects scattered across them. Professor Weasley's stern voice echoed through the room as she explained the intricacies of turning hedgehogs into pincushions.
"Remember, precision is key," she emphasized, her eyes scanning the room to ensure we were all paying attention. "A slight mistake, and you could end up with a very disgruntled hedgehog."
I sat next to Sebastian, our desks pushed together in the crowded classroom. Ominis was on Sebastian's other side, his wand tapping rhythmically against the table as he listened intently. Sebastian's eyes met mine, a mischievous glint dancing in them.
"Think you can manage not to turn your pincushion into a porcupine, Snape?" he whispered, a playful smirk tugging at his lips.
I rolled my eyes, trying to suppress a grin. "I'll have you know, Sallow, that my Transfiguration skills are top-notch. I've been practicing. Just watch and learn."
Sebastian chuckled softly, leaning closer. "I am watching. Closely."
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks at his comment, but I quickly turned my attention to the hedgehog in front of me. "Let's see if you can back up that talk," I challenged, focusing on the task at hand.
With a flick of my wand, I muttered the incantation, "Vera Verto." The hedgehog quivered, then began to transform, its spines retracting and its shape shifting. I watched in satisfaction as it turned into a perfectly normal pincushion.
"Not bad," Sebastian said, genuinely impressed. "But let's see if you can do it twice in a row."
He turned to his own hedgehog, his wand moving with practiced ease. "Vera Verto," he intoned, and his hedgehog followed suit, morphing into a pincushion as well.
"Looks like I can," he said smugly, turning to me with a triumphant grin.
I laughed, nudging him playfully with my elbow. "Alright, alright, you win this round. But there's always next time."
Ominis, who had been following our exchange with a bemused expression, finally spoke up. "You two are completely oblivious, you know that?" he said, shaking his head.
I glanced at him, puzzled. "Oblivious to what?"
"To the fact that you're flirting," he said matter-of-factly. "It's painfully obvious to everyone but you two."
Sebastian and I exchanged a look, both of us momentarily taken aback. "Flirting? Us?" I said, my voice rising slightly in surprise.
Ominis sighed, his expression one of exasperated patience. "Yes, flirting. The teasing, the compliments, the constant need to one-up each other. It's like watching a pair of first-years discover they have a crush."
Sebastian laughed, a hint of nervousness in his voice. "Ominis, you're seeing things. We're just... friends."
"Friends who flirt," Ominis corrected, a knowing smile on his face. "But don't mind me. Just try not to turn your pincushions into pineapples, alright?"
I shook my head, trying to brush off Ominis's comments, but his words lingered in my mind. Was it true? Were Sebastian and I really flirting without realizing it?
We continued with our Transfiguration practice, the atmosphere now tinged with a new awareness. Sebastian seemed more focused, his teasing remarks now carrying a subtle edge that made my heart race. I found myself responding in kind, our exchanges becoming more playful, more charged with an energy I hadn't noticed before.
"Let's see if you can manage three in a row," I challenged, holding up my third hedgehog.
"You're on," Sebastian replied, his eyes locked on mine. "Vera Verto."
His hedgehog transformed flawlessly, and I couldn't help but smile at his success. "Alright, you win this time. But don't get too cocky."
"I wouldn't dream of it," he said, his voice low and teasing.
Ominis cleared his throat, drawing our attention back to him. "Professor Weasley is coming this way. Better make sure those pincushions are perfect."
We hastily adjusted our work, making sure everything was in order as Professor Weasley approached. She inspected our pincushions, nodding in approval.
"Well done, Miss Snape, Mr. Sallow," she said, her sharp gaze softening slightly. "And Mr. Gaunt, excellent work as always."
"Thank you, Professor," Ominis replied, his tone respectful.
As she moved on to the next group, I let out a breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding. "That was close."
"Too close," Sebastian agreed, his eyes meeting mine again.
Ominis shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "Honestly, you two. Just admit you like each other already and spare the rest of us."
I blushed, looking away to hide my embarrassment. "Let's just focus on the next task, alright?"
Sebastian chuckled, but didn't push the subject. "Sure, let's do that."
The rest of the lesson passed in a blur of spells and laughter, the tension between Sebastian and me easing into a comfortable rhythm. By the time class ended, I felt lighter, more at ease than I had in a long time.
As we gathered our things and prepared to leave, Sebastian nudged me gently. "Hey, Lila. How about we practice some more Transfiguration together later? I could use a partner."
I smiled, my heart fluttering at the thought. "I'd like that, Sebastian. I'll see you later."
As we walked out of the classroom, I couldn't help but glance back at Ominis. He raised an eyebrow, his expression amused.
"See? Completely oblivious," he muttered, but there was a fondness in his voice that made me smile.
Maybe he was right. Maybe Sebastian and I were more than just friends. But for now, I was content to take things one step at a time, enjoying the moments we shared and the way he made me feel.
The rest of the day passed by in a haze of classes and casual conversations. By the time dinner rolled around, I was feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Sebastian had asked me to meet him in the Undercroft after dinner to practice Transfiguration spells, and I couldn't help but wonder if there was more to his invitation than just study time.
After a hurried dinner in the Great Hall, I made my way to the Undercroft. The secret room had become a sanctuary for the three of us, a place where we could escape from the pressures and dangers that seemed to follow us everywhere.
Sebastian was already there when I arrived, setting up a few practice items. He looked up and smiled when he saw me, and I felt a familiar flutter in my chest.
"Hey, Lila," he greeted, his voice warm and inviting. "Ready to tackle some more Transfiguration?"
"Absolutely," I replied, walking over to join him. "What do you have in mind?"
"I thought we could try some more advanced transformations," he said, his eyes glinting with excitement. "Something a bit more challenging than hedgehogs and pincushions."
I nodded, feeling the thrill of a new challenge. "Sounds perfect. Let's do it."
We spent the next hour working through various spells, transforming objects into increasingly complex shapes. I found myself getting lost in the rhythm of casting and correcting, the familiar dance of magic that had always brought me a sense of peace.
"You're getting really good at this," Sebastian remarked as I successfully turned a teapot into a tortoise.
"Thanks," I said, a smile tugging at my lips. "You've been a great teacher."

The next morning, as the first rays of sunlight filtered through the heavy drapes of the Slytherin dormitory, I woke to the sound of rustling wings. Blinking the sleep from my eyes, I saw an owl perched on the windowsill, a letter tied to its leg.
I recognized the owl immediately—it was Poppy's. Excitement and curiosity stirred within me as I quickly untied the letter and opened it.
Lila,
Can you meet me by the Care of Magical Creatures classroom as soon as you can? I've heard about a hippogriff that needs to be rescued from poachers.
- Poppy
A thrill of anticipation shot through me. Poachers were a serious threat to magical creatures, and any opportunity to thwart their plans was one I couldn't ignore. I dressed quickly and headed out, leaving a note for Sebastian and Ominis so they wouldn't worry about my sudden disappearance.
The corridors of Hogwarts were quiet this early in the morning, and I made my way to the Care of Magical Creatures classroom without encountering many students. Poppy was waiting for me outside, her face lit with determination and urgency.
"Morning, Poppy," I greeted her. "What's this about a hippogriff?"
Poppy's eyes shone with a mix of excitement and concern. "Morning, Lila. One of my contacts in the Forbidden Forest told me that a group of poachers has captured a young hippogriff. They're planning to sell it on the black market."
My heart sank at the thought of such a majestic creature in the hands of poachers. "Do we know where they're holding it?"
She nodded. "Yes, they've set up camp in a secluded part of the forest. I was hoping you'd come with me to rescue it."
"Of course," I said without hesitation. "Let's go."
We quickly made our way to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, the early morning mist still lingering among the trees. The forest was eerily quiet, the only sounds being the occasional rustle of leaves and distant bird calls. Poppy led the way, her familiarity with the terrain evident in her confident strides.
After what felt like an eternity of navigating through dense underbrush and over twisted roots, we finally reached a small clearing. Hidden among the trees was a makeshift camp, and in the center, tethered and struggling, was a beautiful young hippogriff.
"Poor thing," Poppy whispered, her voice filled with empathy. "We have to act fast."
We crept closer, keeping low to avoid being seen. The poachers were gathered around a fire, talking loudly and clearly not expecting any interruptions. Poppy and I exchanged a determined glance and readied our wands.
"On three," I mouthed to Poppy, and she nodded in agreement.
"One, two, three."
"Stupefy!" I cast, my wand pointed at the nearest poacher.
"Expelliarmus!" Poppy followed up, disarming another.
The clearing erupted into chaos as the remaining poachers scrambled to grab their wands and defend themselves. I dodged a hex aimed at me and retaliated with "Petrificus Totalus," successfully immobilizing another poacher.
Poppy was holding her own, expertly casting "Impedimenta" to slow down a charging poacher before hitting him with a "Stupefy." The poachers were clearly not expecting resistance and their disorganization worked to our advantage.
"Protego!" I shouted, deflecting a curse that came dangerously close. "We need to free the hippogriff!"
Poppy nodded, keeping the poachers at bay with a series of stunning spells. "Go, I'll cover you!"
I darted towards the hippogriff, using "Reducto" to break the chains that bound it. The creature looked at me with large, frightened eyes, but I gently stroked its beak, trying to calm it down.
"It's okay, we're here to help," I murmured, keeping one eye on the ongoing battle.
With the chains broken, the hippogriff stretched its wings, ready to take flight. I cast a quick "Revelio" to ensure there were no lingering enchantments that might hurt it.
"Go, you're free," I urged, stepping back.
The hippogriff let out a grateful screech and took off, its powerful wings beating the air as it soared above the treetops and disappeared into the sky.
Poppy joined me, slightly out of breath but smiling triumphantly. "We did it!"
I nodded, feeling a surge of satisfaction. "We sure did."
We left the poachers stunned and disarmed, knowing that they wouldn't be a threat for a while. As we made our way back through the forest, the adrenaline slowly faded, replaced by a sense of accomplishment.
Once we reached the edge of the forest, Poppy turned to me with a grateful smile. "Thanks for coming with me, Lila. I couldn't have done it without you."
"Anytime," I replied, genuinely meaning it. "And hey, if you ever need help with anything else, just let me know."
After the adrenaline of our mission had finally subsided, Poppy and I decided to treat ourselves to a butterbeer in Hogsmeade. The crisp autumn air was refreshing, and the picturesque village provided a welcome contrast to the harrowing events of the morning.
The streets of Hogsmeade were bustling with students and villagers, all enjoying the weekend. The cheerful chatter and laughter were a stark reminder of the normalcy we often took for granted. As we approached The Three Broomsticks, the warm, inviting glow from the windows beckoned us inside.
"Two butterbeers, please," I said to Madam Rosmerta as we entered the pub. The familiar, sweet aroma of the drink filled the air, and we found a cozy table near the back.
As we sat down, Poppy leaned back in her chair, looking more relaxed than she had in weeks. "This was a great idea, Lila. We needed this after today."
I nodded, taking a sip of my butterbeer. "Definitely. It's nice to unwind for a bit."
We chatted amiably about our classes, the upcoming Quidditch season, and other light-hearted topics. However, our sense of tranquility was shattered when a group of unfamiliar wizards entered the pub. My heart sank as I recognized one of them from the poachers' camp.
I nudged Poppy, my voice barely a whisper. "Look who's here."
Her eyes widened as she followed my gaze. The poacher who had recognized us approached our table, his expression smug and confident. He slid into the seat beside me, his presence exuding menace.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Poppy Sweeting," he drawled, his voice low and threatening. "Your meddling cost us a valuable asset today."
Poppy's face paled, but she maintained her composure. "We were just doing what was right. You have no right to harm those creatures."
The poacher chuckled darkly. "You're just like your grandmother, always sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. What would your parents think?" He leaned in closer, his voice dripping with malice. "It would be a shame if something happened to your dear grandmother because of your actions."
My blood ran cold at his words. I glanced around the pub, hoping to see someone who could help, but the other patrons were blissfully unaware of the tension at our table.
"Leave her alone," I said firmly, trying to muster as much authority as I could. "You've done enough harm."
The poacher's eyes flicked to me, a sneer forming on his lips. "And who might you be? Another little hero, ready to save the day?"
Before I could respond, Poppy intervened. "This isn't over. You and your friends will pay for what you've done."
The poacher smirked. "We'll see about that, won't we?" He stood up, his gaze lingering on Poppy. "Remember, Sweeting, accidents happen all the time."
With that, he sauntered out of the pub, leaving a trail of fear in his wake. Poppy and I sat in stunned silence, the gravity of the threat weighing heavily on us.
"What are we going to do?" Poppy whispered, her eyes wide with fear.
"You've got to go check on your grandmother." I say. "I'll cover for you at school."
Poppy quickly stood up from our table and pulled me in for a hug. "Oh thank you Lila."
Poppy left The Three Broomsticks in a hurry, the threat to her grandmother weighing heavily on her mind. She took the Floo Network, assuring me she'd get home quickly and check on her grandmother.
"Are you sure you'll be alright walking back to the castle?" she asked, her worry evident in her eyes.
I smiled, trying to ease her concern. "I'll be fine, Poppy. It's not that far, and I can handle myself."
Reluctantly, she nodded and stepped into the fireplace, disappearing in a swirl of green flames. I took another sip of my butterbeer, letting the warmth of the drink chase away the chill of the poacher's threat. After finishing, I paid Sirona and stepped out into the crisp evening air.
The walk back to Hogwarts always felt peaceful, but tonight there was an unsettling undercurrent. The sun had dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows over the path. As I walked, a sense of unease began to creep over me. Every rustle of leaves, every snap of a twig seemed magnified in the quiet night.
About halfway to the castle, the feeling intensified. I stopped and glanced over my shoulder, my heart pounding. The road was empty, but the shadows seemed to shift ominously.
I quickened my pace, my wand slipping into my hand almost unconsciously. The sensation of being watched was growing stronger with each step. I forced myself to stay calm, my mind racing with possible spells to use if someone attacked.
Suddenly, a familiar voice broke the silence, sending a shiver down my spine.
"Well, if it isn't little Lila Snape, wandering alone in the dark."
I spun around, my wand at the ready. Marvolo Gaunt stepped out from the shadows, his sneer illuminated by the dim light of the moon.
"What do you want, Marvolo?" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady.
He took a step closer, his wand pointed casually at the ground but his eyes locked on mine. "Just a little chat. It's dangerous out here, you know. Wouldn't want anything to happen to you."
I took a step back, my grip tightening on my wand. "I'm not afraid of you."
His smirk widened. "Oh, I think you are. You see, I know a lot about fear. It's a powerful tool. And I think you're full of it."
Without warning, he raised his wand. "Expelliarmus!"
I barely had time to react, managing to block his spell with a hastily cast Protego. The force of it pushed me back a few steps, but I held my ground.
"Is that all you've got?" I shot back, trying to mask my fear with bravado.
Marvolo laughed, a sound devoid of any warmth. "Oh, I'm just getting started."
He flicked his wand again. "Stupefy!"
I dodged, the spell narrowly missing me and hitting a nearby tree, causing it to splinter. I retaliated with "Petrificus Totalus," but he deflected it effortlessly.
"Impedimenta!" he yelled, sending a powerful force my way.
I barely had time to counter with "Protego," but the impact still sent me staggering. He was strong, stronger than I had anticipated.
"Why are you doing this?" I shouted, trying to buy time to think.
Marvolo shrugged, his expression cold. "Because I can. Because I enjoy it. And because you and your friends are always meddling where you shouldn't."
His words stung, but I refused to let him see my fear. "You're pathetic, Marvolo. Hiding in the shadows, attacking people when they're alone. You're nothing but a coward."
His eyes flashed with anger. "You'll regret that."
He raised his wand again, but before he could cast another spell, I shouted, "Incarcerous!"
Ropes shot out from my wand, wrapping around him and binding his arms to his sides. For a moment, I thought I had him, but with a flick of his wand, he burned through the ropes with ease.
"Nice try," he sneered, "but not good enough." He took a step back and for a split second I thought he was leaving and I lowered my gaurd. "Petrificus Totalus!" He shouts.
I was helpless as Marvolo Gaunt's spell held me rigid. The night air was cool against my skin, the distant sounds of Hogsmeade fading into an eerie silence. Marvolo's grin widened as he flicked his wand, levitating me off the ground. My heart pounded in my chest, the fear almost suffocating.
"Let's take a little walk," he said with a chilling smile.
Marvolo guided my immobilized body away from the path and into the dense foliage of the Forbidden Forest. The shadows grew darker, the trees closing in around us. Every rustle of leaves and snap of twigs seemed amplified in the silence, creating a symphony of fear. My mind raced, desperately trying to think of a way out, but Marvolo's grip on his wand was firm.
Every rustle of leaves and snap of twigs seemed to echo loudly in the dark silence of the forest. Marvolo moved with a chilling confidence, his grip on his wand firm and unyielding. I could see no way to escape as he led me further into the darkness.
After what felt like an eternity, we reached the entrance to a cave, hidden deep within the forest. The cave's mouth yawned open like a dark, ominous portal. Marvolo lowered me to the ground, releasing the spell just enough for me to regain some movement. My muscles ached from the forced rigidity, but fear kept me from collapsing.
"Get up," Marvolo commanded, his voice low and menacing.
I struggled to my feet, my legs trembling. With a rough shove, he pushed me into the cave. The darkness inside was suffocating, and the cold, damp air sent shivers down my spine. Marvolo lit his wand, the dim light casting eerie shadows on the cave walls.
"Why are you doing this?" I managed to ask, my voice quivering.
Marvolo smirked, his eyes glinting with malevolent amusement. "Because I can. And because it's fun to watch you squirm."
The cave walls were rough and uneven, offering no clear escape route. My heart pounded in my chest as Marvolo stepped closer, his presence overwhelming.
"You really should have stayed with your little friends," he sneered. "Now, you're all alone."
Desperation surged through me. I still had my wand, but Marvolo was too close, his grip on my arm tightening painfully. Summoning every ounce of courage, I discreetly reached for it, hoping he wouldn't notice.
But he did. His hand shot out, grabbing my wrist with a vice-like grip. "Ah, ah, ah," he chided, twisting my arm painfully. "You're not going anywhere." He says as he threw my wand against the cave wall opposite of us.
My mind raced, trying to think of a way to defend myself. But Marvolo was too strong, his cruel grin sending waves of terror through me. He forced me further into the cave, his grip like iron.
"Please, let me go," I begged, my voice shaking. "You don't have to do this."
Marvolo laughed, the sound echoing off the cave walls. "Begging won't help you, Snape. But you're welcome to beg, I enjoy it."
Tears of fear and frustration blurred my vision as he cast another spell, this time a binding charm that wrapped around my arms and legs, immobilizing me completely. I was utterly at his mercy, my heart pounding in my chest as I struggled against the magical restraints.
Marvolo's face twisted with cruel delight as he knelt down beside me, his wand still pointed at my chest. "Let's see how much fun we can have before someone finds you," he whispered, his voice a cold, chilling promise.
The darkness of the cave enveloped me, and my heart pounded with a mix of fear and despair. Marvolo Gaunt's menacing presence loomed over me, his wand still pointed at my chest. I struggled against the magical restraints, but they held me firmly in place, rendering me utterly powerless.
Marvolo's cold laughter echoed off the cave walls, sending shivers down my spine. His dark eyes gleamed with malice as he leaned closer, his breath hot against my skin. Fear clenched my throat, making it difficult to breathe as I searched desperately for any sign of hope.
"Please," I whispered, my voice barely audible over the sound of my racing heart. "Don't hurt me."
But Marvolo only sneered, his expression twisted with cruel delight. "Hurt you?" he taunted, his voice dripping with malice. "Oh, my dear, that would be too easy."
With a flick of his wand, he cast another spell, sending a wave of darkness crashing over me. I cried out as tendrils of black energy wrapped around me, squeezing the air from my lungs and sending waves of agony coursing through my body. It felt like I was being consumed by darkness, swallowed whole by the malevolent power of Marvolo's magic.
I struggled against the darkness, trying to summon the strength to fight back, but it was futile. Marvolo's laughter echoed in my ears, mocking my feeble attempts at resistance. I closed my eyes, tears streaming down my face as I braced myself for whatever horrors he had in store.
But just as I felt myself slipping into oblivion, a sudden burst of light filled the cave. I blinked in surprise, struggling to focus through the haze of pain and fear. Marvolo had released the spell.
"Now for the fun part," He says with a wicked grin. He seemed to have released the binding spell that was holding me as I sunk to the ground.
"Reducto," he shouted, and I somehow managed to roll myself over just in time, the curse striking the ground beside me, shattering the stone into pieces. "Levioso! Depulso!"
Heaved from the ground and then slammed down, my head smashed into the ground. Blood was pooling underneath me, dampening my robes, and I'm not even sure where it was coming from. Everything hurt.
A hand grabbed me by the collar of my dress and lifted me up, cutting off my air supply. "You've never been more beautiful," Marvolo murmured in my ear, and the shiver that shot down my spine was instant. "Covered in blood and screaming in agony; you're absolutely radiant."
He tossed me to the ground, and he joined me, bracing himself up on his arms as he looked down at me. He smelled like iron and whiskey, the odor filling my nose and it made me gag. My body was twitching still, my pulse too high for someone who was losing blood. Fingers trailed up my stomach, and I felt my robes being ripped open. A sob left me as I reached up to push him away, only for the back of his hand to connect with my face. My mouth filled with blood – I had bit my cheek. "You'll lie there and take it, you filthy halfbreed whore." His spit hit my in the face, and I have never felt lower.
The disgusting sensation of my dress and bra being torn, pulled off of me leaving my chest exposed, made me gag again. The panic was threatening to drive me into hysterics, clawing its way up my throat and suffocating me. A strangled sob left me as I felt his sickeningly cold hands grab my right breast in a bruising grip, his fingers twisting my nipple painfully. He was working with his other hand to relieve me of my dress entirely, and I could feel the shame, anger, and pain stirring the magic beneath my skin. The buzzing sensation filling me with a sense of hope. Wandless magic. I have done it once before, when Sebastian had fallen off of his broom.
Marvolo's lips were on my neck, sucking painfully and biting along my collarbone. I felt his teeth sinking into my skin, and I cried out. This was not his to take. My body was not his to touch, and he had no right to be trying to take something that did not belong to him. As his teeth left my skin, I reached up with my hands and with the strength of everything I had left I tried to push him away.
It was no use. I hit him, and clawed, I kicked and screamed but he only laughed at my effort. "Please," I sobbed, "don't do this."
In a final effort I bit his hand that was holding me down. He winced and I saw his eyes darken in anger. "You little bitch!" He shouts at me. He takes his wand back out. "I hadn't wanted to resort to this, although it will still be fun." He says before pointing his wand at me. "Imperio!"
I cry as the spell hits me. "Stay still." He commands. I try to fight it, but it seems that my body didn't want to obey me. My arms that were once trying to push him away dropped to my sides. My legs that have been kicking him fell to the ground. There was nothing I could do now.
He might have been in control of my body but I still screamed out when his hand still touches my body. He seemed to grow annoyed with the amount of clothes I had on. "Evenesco." He says vanishing my clothes.
My very first instinct was to cover myself but I couldn't move. It was like my arms and legs weighed a million pounds. I couldn't even move my head. I was either forced to look up at him or to close my eyes. I chose the latter.
Tears streamed down my face as I felt his hungry gaze look over my body. "Open your eyes, Lila." He commanded. I tried to hard to resist the urge to obey him but my eyes opened and I saw him hovering over me. "You know, I'm feeling a bit generous." He says as he leans back and begins to unbuckle his belt. I tear my eyes away from him as I hear the rustle of his jeans hitting the cave floor. In an instant he is back on top of me, his shirt is still on but I can't bring myself to look lower. "You can move now." He says and instantly I start struggling. I claw at him and push him. I bring my legs up to try to throw him off. "I love it when they try to fight back."
Tears blurred my vision as I felt him reach down. He lined himself up with me and I sobbed even harder. "No, please don't do this!" I screamed at him.
He only smiled down at me, "Keep on begging me, darling. I love it." He says.
There's a sharp pain as he pushes himself fully inside. I scream out so loud that I pray someone will hear and come to my rescue. It feels like I am being split in two. I try to kick at him but it's not use, he just continues to thrust himself in me. "Please, stop," I beg him once more. "It hurts."
He grins down wickedly at me as if he is enjoying my pain. I reach my hand up and claw his check from his eye down to his jaw. I leave scratches on his face. He glares down at me angrily as he still inside of me. "Bitch!" He says before slapping me hard across the face. "Can't even do as you're told." He leans down so that his face is right above mine. Tears fall down my face. "Stay still and shut the hell up!" He commands me. Once again my arms and legs fall down and my mouth closes as silent tears fall down the sides of my face. "Honestly you're annoying with all the screaming."
He then continues his movements and I lay there unmoving. From the inside I'm screaming. It's like I'm pounding on the glass, trying to break my way out but it won't break. On the outside I'm just laying there, completely silent as tears flow from my eyes.
Everything hurts.
Was I naive to think that this would actually be a good year? I'm starting to think so. It was foolish of me to think that the past few weeks where I was actually happy for once would stay. Nothing is okay anymore. Everything is broken. All because I'm not strong enough to protect myself. I couldn't even best Sebastian in a duel.
He is the best duelist in the school though.
Perhaps I deserve this because I'm not strong enough. I seem to disassociate from myself as if in a way to protect me. I think about Sebastian and Ominis instead of the vile person above me. They were talking about something when I went to meet Poppy, something about a scriptorium.
I imagine what would have happened if I went with Poppy to check on her grandmother rather to than stay behind. Or if I never agreed to help her in the first place. Would this still have happened?
I must have closed my eyes again because I hear him say, "Keep your eyes open." I fight it. It becomes physically painful as I struggle with myself to not obey the command. I squeeze my eyes shut tighter hoping that it would lessen the effects but it doesn't. Everything in my body is screaming at me to just open my eyes, and so I do.
He seems to have enjoyed my fight to resist him as he smiles down at me. I refuse to stare at him though, instead I shift my gaze to the ceiling above. I don't want to listen to the sounds he makes so I try to think of anything else to take me away from this moment.
I think of one happy moment towards the beginning of this year.
The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm, golden glow over the grounds of Hogwarts. We had decided to spend the evening by the Black Lake, away from the stresses and dangers that seemed to follow us lately. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the gentle lapping of the water against the shore created a serene backdrop.
Sebastian, Ominis, and I had brought a picnic with us, determined to enjoy a peaceful evening. We spread out a large blanket on the grass and sat down, the basket filled with treats from the kitchens waiting to be devoured.
"This was a great idea," Sebastian said, lying back and propping himself up on his elbows. "We needed a break."
Ominis nodded, a rare smile on his face. "Agreed. It feels good to just relax for once."
I looked around at the beautiful scenery, the water reflecting the colors of the sunset. "I can't remember the last time we did something like this."
"Too long," Sebastian said, reaching for a pumpkin pasty. "We've been so focused on everything else, it's easy to forget to just... enjoy life."
We ate and chatted, the conversation light and filled with laughter. Sebastian and Ominis shared stories from their childhoods, and I told them about some of the pranks I had pulled on my own.
We continued to reminisce, the worries and fears of the past few months fading away in the warmth of our friendship. As the sky darkened, the first stars began to twinkle above us, and the lake shimmered under the moonlight.
"I love nights like this," I said softly, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me.
"Me too," Ominis agreed, his usually serious demeanor softened. "It's nice to just be ourselves for a while."
Sebastian nodded, his expression thoughtful. "We've been through a lot, but I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything."
I felt a swell of emotion at his words, realizing how much our bond meant to me. "Neither would I."
We sat in companionable silence for a while, simply enjoying the peaceful night. Eventually, Sebastian sat up and reached into his bag, pulling out a small package.
"I almost forgot," he said, handing it to me. "I got you something."
I took the package, surprised. "What's this for?"
"Just because," he said with a shrug. "Open it."
Curious, I unwrapped the package to reveal a beautiful silver bracelet, delicate and intricately designed. "Sebastian, it's lovely."
He smiled, looking pleased with himself. "I thought it would suit you."
I put it on, admiring how it caught the light. "Thank you, Sebastian. I love it."
Ominis cleared his throat, a teasing smile on his face. "Looks like someone's trying to get on your good side."
Sebastian rolled his eyes, but his grin betrayed his amusement. "Just being a good friend."
We laughed, the playful banter a testament to the strong bond we shared. As the night wore on, we continued to talk and laugh, the worries of the world far from our minds.
For that one evening, we were just three friends enjoying each other's company, and it was perfect. The darkness and danger that usually overshadowed our lives were momentarily forgotten, replaced by the simple joy of friendship and the beauty of the night.
As we finally packed up and headed back to the castle, I couldn't help but feel grateful for moments like these. They reminded me that no matter what challenges we faced, we would always have each other. And that, more than anything, gave me hope for the future.
More tears fall down my face as I remember that moment. How happy all of us were for the first time in a long while. We didn't think about the dark wizards that are after me, or about the evil Guant's that still tried to control Ominis, and in that moment no matter how selfish it was, we didn't think about Anne or her condition. We simply all lived that that moment not worrying about the past or present.
It had felt nice, refreshing even.
But then that moment ended. And I somehow found myself here where I feel like all the happiness has been sucked out of me.
I'm brought back to reality when I feel Marvolo pull out and then finishes on my stomach. "Can't have you corrupting the family line, now can we?"
Although I can't move, I feel my face scrunch up in disgust. He quickly pulls his jeans back on before he turns back to me. He crouches down where I still lay unmoving. His head directly over mine so that I can see him. "If you breathe a word of what happened here tonight, I will know." He whispers to me. "And unlike my pathetic excuse of a brother, I'm not afraid of the unforgivables as you have seen. If you speak to anyone about this then I might just have to use the other two on you."
He then whispers something I can't quite make out. "But of course, even if you tried you wouldn't be able to. I put a jinx on you so that if you speak of this you will die." He threatens before he smiles down at me. He runs a hand through my hair and I want to shy away from his touch but I can't. "Well, this has been fun. We should do it again sometime."
He then stands up and begins to walk out of the cave. I begin to panic as he hasn't released me from the spell and I still can't move or speak. "The spell will wear off in an hour," I hear him call out. "I do hope no one tries to take advantage of you," he says with a laugh and then he's gone and I can do absolutely nothing until the spell wears off.
Now that everything is over, I feel all of the pain come rushing back to me. I scream on the inside as the pain tears through me. But only tears escape my eyes on the outside.
The hour seems to drag along, or Marvolo lied about it wearing off then and it would actually take longer. I wasn't sure but it felt like it had been hours.
When I could finally move again, I screamed out in pain. I didn't even want to look down at see what damage was caused to make me feel like this. Instead I rolled onto my side and brought my knees up to my chest. I buried my head in my knees as I wrapped my arms around my legs and I cried.
I felt so useless and pathetic. And then a thought hit me and it caused just about as much pain as I felt before. No one would love me now. I've been tainted, I'm not pure anymore.
What would my mother think if she were to find out. I hope that she would understand that it wasn't my choice. Would Sebastian and Ominis still accept me as their friend. I would hope so.
My first instinct is to tell someone, but his threats replayed in my mind. I wasn't ready to die yet and he had threatened the killing curse. I would have taken the torture curse to tell someone. A part of me didn't believe he actually put a jinx on me but I didn't actually wanna test that theory.
I don't know how long I laid there on the dirty cave floor. But after I have cried all my tears, I sit up and see my wand lying against the rock wall. I stand up and wince when it hurts. Ignoring the pain, I grab my wand and quickly cast Scourgify, hoping that it would make me feel better to be clean but it didn't. I still felt dirty.
I quickly conjure my clothes, a clean pair, and put them on. I could only hope that I didn't look like I have been crying for hours when I walk out into the cold night air. My heart hammers in my chest as I make my way to the castle wanting nothing more than to take a bath to scrub away everything that has happened.
It's well past curfew and I'm almost positive that Marvolo planned this so that he could catch me out. I don't even want to know what he would do, because something's telling me it wouldn't just be a detention or take away house points.
I walk through the empty corridors of the castle towards the dungeons. I don't really pay attention as I am too busy trying to block out memories that keep trying to replay in my head. I make it to the common room door and am just about to say the password when I hear my name being called.
"Lila!" Sebastian shouts from the other end of the hall. "There you are, I've been looking everywhere for you."
I give him a weak smile as he walks up to me. "Sorry," I say quietly. "I've been with Poppy most of the day." It wasn't a complete lie I was with her. He just stares at me and I begin to worry if he can see through my lies.
"Well, I've finally managed to talk Ominis into taking us to the scriptorium." Sebastian says excitedly.
I feel my heart sink. I really didn't want to go, I didn't want to do anything but take a bath and maybe obliviate my memories from today. "Tonight?" I ask. Sebastian nods his head. I put on my best smile that I can muster, "Well, then lead the way." He again stares at me as if he knows I'm hiding something. Maybe my smile isn't as convincing as I hoped.
I'm thankful that Sebastian is walking in front of me, because I am still sore and because of it I find myself walking with a limp. This is going to be a long night.
