Just a walk in the park
As soon as I heard Dan and Niamh fall asleep I got up and went downstairs to Hyde and vamp. I guess it was their time of a month tonight as they were both sleeping on the couch. I walked back up and just sat on my bed.
I heard someone stir in their sleep then they slowly sat up.
"So I guess you couldn't sleep either." Said the sweet but tired voice. I knew it was Niamh.
"Nope. Why did you wake up?" I asked hoping I didn't wake her.
"More like why couldn't I get to sleep. I've been awake watching you."
I gave a small chuckle.
"But I've been watching you sleep." I laughed.
"You were wrong. I think I might sleep better with you." Niamh said with a smirk. I shifted aside gesturing her to come over. She stood up and sat next to me.
"Are you going to sleep sitting up?" I asked making her blush.
"No." She said sounding slightly shy as slowly lay down and put her head next to mine. I felt her breath on me. It was warm. Very warm. I just smiled to myself.

The birds were singing outside in the early morning light. Today was a great day for me. There were many clouds but it looked warm.
Me being a vampire meant I only sleep once a month so I could get up. Well I could but due to the sleeping Niamh on me I found it very hard. I decided to stay put so I wouldn't wake her.
Niamh hasn't moved in a while so I knew she was in a deep sleep. I was hoping she was having a good dream. A dream about things she likes or maybe even a dream about me. I doubt it though.
"Have you two been like that all night?" Asked a very surprised Daniel after awhile of me just laying there thinking.
"No. She couldn't sleep so came with me." Dan just smiled happily but then slowly frowned.
"So are you going to tell her today?" He asked me.
"Yep."
"How?"
"A walk in the park."
"What about a meal. It doesn't look too nice today."
"Just a walk in the park. Nothing else. I want something nice. Somewhere quiet. Somewhere alone." I said smiling.
We talked for awhile. Well a long time. I was planning to get up soon but Niamh was still asleep on me. As nice as it was it got quite annoying.
"Just get up. It's fine if you wake her. It's late." Said Daniel. I nodded and got up vampire speed. It was unsuccessful. Very unsuccessful.
Her head hit the pillow at some speed waking her up.
"Sorry." I said trying not to laugh. Dan couldn't hold it in and was laughing so hard he was rolling around on my bed.
"It's fine. Did you sleep well?" Niamh asked yawning.
I didn't answer. Instead I ran vampire speed out and down stairs. I could tell by her emotions she was amazed but confused. I just laughed to myself.
She came down about ten minuets later showered and dressed.
"Are you going to have a shower or are you going to stink?" Asked Niamh playfully. I walked up to her trying to look all buff but failed miserably.
"I smell wonderful." I said.
"Really?"
"Smell." I said opening my arms. She cautiously leaned forward and smelt me.
"Wow." She said.
That's another thing about vampires. They smell different to every person. To their enemies they smell horrible while to their loved ones they smell their favourite smell.
"You smell like strawberries." Said Niamh. I just smiled.
"What!?" She asked.
"I'll tell you later." I promised.
For breakfast we had smoothies. I had a blood one while the other two had strawberries and raspberries. We all finished around the same time. Daniel had a red beard. I couldn't help but laugh.
"What!?" He asked angrily. I pointed to the top of his lip and he got it. He went almost as red as the leftovers on his top lip as he wiped it off.
"Better?"
"Better." I replied.
"So Niamh I was wondering if we could go for a walk today. We need to talk."
"Sure. Where?"
"Just a walk in the park."
"But won't it rain?" She suddenly asked.
"Then it'll be better. Just trust me." I said. She nodded.
****
It was raining and Niamh looked very cold.
"Hey Niamh do you need my coat?" I asked.
"No. Then you'll get cold."
"I won't. Trust me." I said smiling as I took off my jumper.
I saw a bench in the middle of the park.
"I know this may sound insane but we need to sit on the bench." I said.
"That is insane." Niamh laughed as she walked next to me.
"Okay. You need to listen to me. I'm going to ask you some questions and you need to answer truthfully and if you don't I'll know." She nodded. I took a deep breath and started.
"What would you do if I told you what I really am?"
"I would listen close."
"Would you promise not to tell anyone?"
"Not a soul unless you want me too." She said truthfully.
I sighed and started again.
"You saw me run fast right?"
"Yes." She said shifting uncomfortably.
"And remember how I smelt nice? Like strawberries. Your favourite smell."
"Yes. Wait! How did you know that's my favourite smell?" She asked. I smiled to myself.
"You saw how fast I ate?"
"Yes."
"Remember that time I ran away when the sun came out?"
"Yeah. That was strange." I laughed. She really was quiet funny.
"Last one. Remember when we first met you hit me across the face and my eye turned yellow. Well it never healed."
"Oh! I'm sooooo sorry but why?"
"You'll see. Now I want you to put all those together and what do you get?" I asked her.
I sat in the rain watching her think for awhile until she finally got an answer. Well sort of.
"The answers points to one answer."
"Yeah?"
"What ever you are you're not human." She said playfully. I just smiled at her doubting herself.
"Almost there. You're right I'm not human."
"Then who are you? What are you?" She asked.
"I'm a vampire."
"A v-vampire?" She stuttered.
"You don't believe me do you?"
"Um? No. Not really." I sighed.
"Think about it. I ran away when the sun came out. I have no shadow. I ran at vampire speed this morning. I smelt like strawberries because it's your favourite thing to smell. And the eye well a vampire always gets a mark when they first interact with their one true love. It's like a memory you can always see. It's called a memory mark." I looked at her in the eye as I told her.
"So? It's real. I'm in love. In love with a vampire?"
