Magic

Dusk

Red.  It spills down my leg onto my hoof, the dim light making my head hurt. It doesn't matter, pain, no matter the type, I'm used to it. Since...that day...it's one of the few things that keep me grounded.
"I thought you couldn't handle pain, Dusk," a voice mocks. I try to turn but magic is suddenly binding me down, my body shifting from being a pony to a human, leaving me even more defenseless. I struggle against the binds, tears threatening to run down my cheeks, his smirk deepening.

"Dusk! Wake up!"

I frown- the voice is familiar but it's not his. This...is this actually real?
"Who cares if I'm real?" he says, the voice getting more echoey and distant by the second. "You are still scared of me."

I wake up just as he swings the knife at my throat.

"Are...you OK? I came in to get you for breakfast and it looked like you were having a nightmare?" Raph asks.
"I'm fine," I murmur, tiredly. "It's hardy...uncommon for me to have nightmares. Though it has been happening more and more lately." Oops. I didn't mean to say that last bit...
"How come?" Raph asks. I hesitate. "Talking about it can help." I've heard that; I've just never had anyone to talk about it to so, really, I've got used to it. Still. If I don't talk about the dream itself then that may be true. Besides, I'm not a great liar.

"Most likely because there's less to...distract myself with. Back in Equestria I had distractions...a job...medi-" I don't finish the last bit. I don't think I can admit it- not yet. Unfortunately I don't have to.
"Medication? For what?" Raph asks. I just shake my head.
"It doesn't matter," I mutter. Then i sigh. "A lot of stuff."

                                     -----------------------

We're all outside again: sitting by the portal, Sunset writing in the book which they're all hoping can still be used to communicate with Princess Twilght and Garrett.

Dear Princess Twilight,
She reads
We got your letter about why the portal is closed from Dusk- we're seeing if at least the book works. Sombra got through - we're not entirely sure what to do.

Is there a way to reopen the portal? Please write back to us.
Your friend Sunset Shimmer

"I really hope this works..." she mutters. "Did you shut the portal or the connection between the two worlds..?"
"I don't know," I reply. "I haven't done it before. Still. If there's still a connection I'll work on reopening it...if I have magic."
"And we'll work on stopping Sombra,"Sunset adds.
"Interesting, you're ignoring my warning," a cold voice states. Sombra. Again. A blast wizzes at my chest- a crystal like shield goes in front of me before it hits.

A blast of a gold colour flies out Sunset's hands- unfortunately Sombra catches it, shrinking it to nothing.
"Finally. This world has worthy opponents," he hisses, yet again dissapearing.

The book starts glowing and ringing.
