Chapter 2 - Wheat

"Goldenheart? Who's this?" Blizzardkit asked, eyeing the strange tom. The gray tom purred, smiling. "I'm Stonepelt, your father." He rumbled in his deep voice. The she-kit went blank, thinking. "But..why haven't I seen you before?" She asked. "You could't see, then, and I'm busy as the clan's deputy." Stonepelt replied, grinning proudly. His kit was going to be a fine warrior, you could see it. Blizzardkit nodded and went over to Lizardtail's nest, to find Twigkit gone. "Out with his father, Blizzardkit. How about I tell you a story until he comes back?" Lizardtail asked, smiling. Blizzardkit nodded eagerly and sat down. "A long, long then ago..

There was a small kit, the only surviving kit of his litter, a little tabby. His father was the leader of the clan, his mother one of the best warriors. You could see he was destined for greatness. But, once his father left for the soft life of a kittypet, his fate changed. He became dark and cruel, and try to kill his Leader, but only fail and exiled, to find his dream come true in Shadowclan. Tigerstar cheated his way to the top, and formed Tigerclan, merging his clan, Bloodclan, and Riverclan. But, the newest leader of Thunderclan, Firestar, convinced Tallstar and Leopardstar to join Lionclan to defeat Tigerstar. They-" Lizardtail stopped, staring intently at the entrance. Blizzardkit turned around to see Twigkit, and smiled. "Another time, eh?" Lizardtail called as Blizzardkit tackled Twigkit and rolled out of the nursery. "Where've you been?" She shouted, pummeling his ear. He chuckled lightly. "Why, miss me? I've been with my father. By the way, do you know who yours is?" Twigkit took her by surprise and kicked her off.
"Of course, none other than the clan deputy!" She shrieked, flying off him.
"Clan deputy, eh?" He asked cheekily, then murmuring just below his breath, out of earshot from Blizzardkit, "He'll be a hard one to win over.."

Golden flower was humming something gently as Stonepelt came sauntering into the nursery. "My love~" He said in his velvet-like voice, and added-much to Blizzardkit's dismay, "It's Twigkit's ceremony~~Oh, won't you join meee~" Stonepelt sang, leading Goldenflower out by his tail, Blizzardkit trailing behind. Soon, they were outside and sitting down inside the crowd of colorful and dull pelts.
"Twigkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Twigpaw. Your mentor will be Swirledfire. I hope Swirledfire will pass down all he knows on to you." Blackstar called, grinning at the tomkit.
Blackstar continued. "Swirledfire, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from Crushedneedle, and you have shown yourself to be resilient and a good judge of character. You will be the mentor of Twigpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Twigpaw." Swirledfire nodded eagerly and stepped forward to touch noses with Twigpaw, who was grinning madly. "Your training will start tomorrow, Twigpaw. Get some rest." Swirledfire said, nodding towards his mother, Lizardtail, his father, Brackenheart, and his sister, Spottedpaw. But, as soon as the young Tom left, Twigpaw came straight to Blizzardkit. "Congratulations." Purred her mother, smiling widely. My father had nodded sternly, but soon left to accompany Blackstar. Goldenheart winked at him, making him blush, and left. "So, you're old, huh, Twigpaw?" The dappled gray mischievously giggled, a slight blush on her face as well. "Not that old, Blizzardkit. Soon you'll be an apprentice as well." He replied, shrugging. Twigpaw was hiding his face, she could tell. "You wanna take a walk with me?" Twigpaw asked, smiling uncertainly. Blizzardkit was shaken, her eyes wide with shock, but a hidden layer of excitement. "Ye-wait, I'm not allowed out of camp." She said, looking back at a golden presence behind her. "Don't worry, I'll vouch for you, Blizzardkit." Goldenheart smiled, pushing me up suddenly. And so, we were off. The already-broad shouldered brown tabby padded ahead, ducking under roots and low-hanging branches. "I wanted to show you something, Blizzardkit." He said, coming to an abrupt stop in the entrance of a small clearing. She stepped out from behind him and gasped. Fresh wild wheat swayed like golden sunrays on an ocean, the soft stems making way for the two cats. "It's beautiful." Blizzardkit breathed, looking around. Twigpaw grinned, pressing closer to me. Blizzardkit couldn't guess why, it was the middle of green leaf, and was hot out. But, she let him and felt a tingle where he touched. For a second, she thought Twigpaw had sniffed the top of her head, Blizzardkit stifled a laugh, grinning. "Come on, let's head back."
