You were patiently waiting for Shadow when suddenly, you saw him limping in the field.

"Shadow!"

Shadow lifted his head slowly as he saw you running towards him.

"Y-Y/N?"

He soon fainted and turned back to normal as he was losing some blood.

You quickly arrived by his side and shouted for help. A few hours later, Shadow woke up with bandages on his leg and waist.

He hissed in pain as he tried to move.

"Gah!"

"Easy there. You need to be careful."

Shadow turned his head and saw his friends.

"Are you ok dude?" Silver asked.

"Where am I?" Shadow asked.

"You're back at your tent. You were unconscious and losing a lot of blood."
Knuckles said.

Shadow looked around at his surroundings and then at his bandages.

"Unfortunately, you won't be able to shapeshift for awhile until you're healed." Sonic said.

"Thanks guys." Shadow said.

"Don't thank us." Blaze said as she pointed at you.

"Hmm?" Shadow looked at you as you gave him a soft smile.

"Y/N? You helped me get back home?"

"Yeah. I couldn't just let you die."

Shadow sighed and said,

"I'm sorry for how I've been treating you. I really thought you were like the other outsiders that just wants to hurt us but you really proved me wrong."

"But what exactly happened?" Amy asked.

"When I was training Y/N how to hunt, I spotted the Non-Shapeshifters from afar. They seemed to be looking for something so I went to go see what they were up to."

"Suddenly, some creature ran past me and got the Outsiders attention by making me the new target."

"What was it that ran off?" Blaze asked.

"I don't know. It was to fast to tell."

"Must of been a normal animal." Silver said.

"Is the Shapeshifting Games still going?" Shadow asked.

"Well... actually Shadow, it ended about 2 hours ago. It's like dark outside." Silver said as he pointed outside.

Shadow looked outside and noticed that it was indeed dark.

"Y/N was a pretty good gamer though. She did a couple of them and did pretty well." Knuckles said.

"I'm surprised that I'm still alive." Y/N said as everyone laughed.

"We should get some sleep." Sonic said as everyone agreed.

They all said goodnight to Shadow and left his home. Sonic noticed that you were still next to him.

"You coming Y/N?"

"I'm gonna stay with Shadow."

Sonic looked at Shadow as he just shrugged.

"Alright then. Goodnight Y/N."

"Goodnight Sonic."

Sonic went home as Shadow looked at you.

"Why are you staying here?"

"I want to keep you company. I should of been there to help you."

"It's not your fault. You don't have to worry about me."

"Just in case though." You decided to get yourself comfortable and went to bed next to Shadow.

"Goodnight Shadow."

Shadow took awhile to respond as he finally said,

"Goodnight Y/N."

He closed his eyes and went to sleep.

The next day, Shadow sat next to you while you and the others were eating breakfast.

"So Y/N, what's your world like?" Sonic asked.

"Well...It's nothing much. The children go to school while the adults work for money."

"That's cool." Silver said.

"It's not as easy as it sounds but you guys have it easy. You get to do whatever you want and be free."

"Not exactly. We have plenty of things to do here and the animals are not the only prey here. We have a full time job of protecting everyone in our home." Blaze said.

"I guess that makes sense."

"Well we're happy to have you here Y/N but I do have a question." Shadow said.

"What is it?"

"Do you think you would ever go back to your homeland?"

You froze as you didn't know how to respond. Everyone else stayed quiet, waiting patiently for your answer.

"Honestly, I don't know. I mean I do like it here but it can be tough learning how to survive in the wild."

"Well either way, you'll still be family." Shadow said.

Everyone was surprised to hear him say this.

"Thank you Shadow."

"Mhm."

You both smiled at each other, knowing you finally made another friend.
