Fighting Machine
"I told myself I would do this. I told myself over and over I would do this." She said, sadly. That triggered something in me... Possibly a memory from my future? Had I said that in my future? I felt as if I've said that before.
I sat down onto the soft snow, not minding the nip of the coldness. "I understand. Whenever you are ready, I'll be here." I said, looking at her. Of course, she was still looking down. I wasn't judging her, I would do the same thing.
She took a deep breath. She fidgeted with her paws once more, and I think she finally felt ready.
"Alright... Okay... I can do this." She said, and she looked off into the distance.
"It all began before I found you. You see, I was apart of a sled racing... Or... Erm... Sled dog team. I was the runt of the whole team, and I was in the middle of pulling the sled. Everyone hated me... I was the runt, I couldn't do anything. What did I expect? To be praised? Nope. I would never be praised to be the runt. I was the failure of the group, the mistake, I was the one who was pulling them down instead of forward. The runt was the smallest, tiniest, and weakest. You see, there was a reason why I wasn't in the back...
When I first started out as a puppy, I was a runt of one of the litters. They didn't have any other dogs to use or replace me with, so they just chose me to do sled racing. It was against my will, too. I got used to it, though. I learned to like it....
When I first started out, I was put in the back of the team because I was one of the weakest. And, oh boy, was that a great decision." Looka began her story.
