Falling Into Line
"Okay then." Echo looked nervous, but he was going to follow whatever we were going to do.
"Let's go!" I took off, taking the lead with no plan. The others followed one by one.
We made our way to the first doghouse, and I noticed how they were all gated so that the dog couldn't freely get in and out...
'Welp. Time to fix that.' I had thought to myself.
I had yet another idea... What if Athena burned down the doghouses? 'Wait. Too dangerous, Shadow. Let's not get carried away.'
I looked at the gate, and I tried to imagine getting it open. The dog that was inside had finally noticed our presence, and had perked up. They whimpered, and clawed at the gate.
I nodded, looking down at the gate. I then, without a plan, and without much thought, had punched the gate with my paw.
I didn't realize what might happen on my part for the outcome... The great pain that had came from me punching the wood was scorching. It felt like I had felt fire, and had let my paw just set there... Burning in the fire. My paw throbbed with pain, but I kept it inside.
I looked at my paw, and I saw a bruise coming, but then, all of a sudden, the bruise just disappeared and I felt no pain whatsoever....
'Canine healing? Was that what it was?' I questioned in my mind. I had assumed that had been what I had experienced... I didn't think much of it, though.
I looked at the wood gate, and I saw that I had made a hole straight through the wood. 'Eh. Worth the pain.' I thought to myself.
The dog had finally enough space to claw the rest of the way out, and that only took a matter of seconds. This dog had been practicing their whole life of clawing their way out because they were trying to claw their way out from the beginning, but had no start.
